Primaries in New Mexico and South Dakota

New Mexico and South Dakota vote in Republican primaries today.

New Mexico will be sending a total of 32 delegates to the GOP National Convention.

29 of these delegates are proportionally allocated to the presidential contenders based on today’s statewide Presidential primary vote. The actual delegates will be elected at the New Mexico State Republican Convention on June 14, 2008.

South Dakota will be sending a total of 27 delegates to the GOP National Convention.

24 of these delegates are proportionally allocated to the presidential contenders based on today’s statewide Presidential primary vote. A 20% threshold is required for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at the statewide level. The actual delegates will be elected at the South Dakota State Republican Convention on June 19, 2008.

Ron Paul and John McCain are the only Republicans left in the race.
