Hey — you made it look like my Rep (Hensarling) is from GA, when he’s actually from TX. I’ve already sent him my deep thanks for standing firm on this huge issue.
On the other side, I have sent my regrets to Sen. Hutchison and Sen. Cornyn that I will not be able to vote for them next time.
This is ridiculous, and as most have said, we need to SHOW THEM what a bad decision this thing really was. Vote ‘em out.
Too bad we couldn’t have a Paul/Palin ticket this year; now THAT would be a thing of beauty.
Shelley Moore Capito (R) from the 2nd District here in West Virginia voted “no” both times. She even said Bush called her and asked her why she didn’t vote for it and she said, “Because this Bill is not what the people of West Virginia want”. She also went on to mention how much pork spending in it and that other options weren’t even allowed to be discussed. She’s a keeper.
When I say ,”WE THE PEOPLE ” ,I mean “WE” ,those who actually pay the bills & salaries & policies. The salaries of those who are out to break us, & now keep us working till death so they do not have to replace the SSI monies they stole…..401K ????I already paid for their follish pleasures & give away programs..TRAITORS to freedom ,pure & simple….
I am DONE voting after 40 years of trust, that finally went up in smoke..NO more donations or considerations ….Until A viable third party is pooled I am: OUT…They proved that they do not listen to me & others like me & could care less…MAIN STREET, they aught to walk it occasionally….I have names & will not forget …THANKS for the brave & true patriots who stood up for the people…I will support those who supported me….
NOW let me get this straight; LIQUIDITY = TAKE monies from Main Street & then; turn around & help Main Street, because Main Street cannot pay their MTG’s..HAUGH ??? Sounds like a fee, salery & commission scam if I ever heard one…Keep the rich in riches they threw away…Don’t change the watchers keep them working in ca’houts …I know they would help me in a jam, ????
I am ashamed of all of the Congressmen from my state. I’m new enough to this politics game to not be guilty of having voted them in, but I had expected better of my respresentatives. How DARE they act like this!
I’ve written their names down. They are NOT getting my vote ever in the future. And I’m closing my bank account ande putting my money either in my house or with a credit union. At least crtedit unions are more likely to be careful with my money.
Thank you, Ron Paul, for speaking so clearly that a novuice like me can see what is happening. I praise you, and you forever have my respect. I’ll defend your honor against everyone who thinks you don’t do anything, because you do EVERYTHING, and you have frequently done it alone.
Maybe the problem is not the politicians, but ourselves. Yes, the majority of us were against the bill, but too easily calmed down by the soft words. And pork barrel spending, let’s face it, most of us like it when OUR state or OUR special interest group gets it, even though we may pretend otherwise.
I do think WE DESERVE THE LEADERS WE ELECT, we don’t protest publicly for the fear of being labeled far-right or far-left “extremists” or “individualists who don’t work well with others” and blacklisted by companies if we apply for jobs (they will find different reasons, of course, for why we are not qualified, to avoid problems with the law). Without being ready to die one cannot live, but many of us (myself included) are not (yet?) ready to die, or even to lose future job opportunities if we protest in the major way required to make any sort of change.
The problem is not that there are only 2 parties, but that the representatives don’t listen to the voters – or their own conscience for that matter, but campaign donors and the party “whips”. Who cares if we have even 50 parties, unless the representatives start representing the people?
After this bill I can’t vote for McCain: “no more pork barrel spending” – like Bush senior “read my lips no more taxes,” I’m sitting this one out. And no, I’m not voting for Baldwin either, he just doesn’t have what it takes (his economic policy of tarriffs to equal domestic production cost will cause even more harm than this disastrous bill).
I’m sitting this one out, had different plans before this bill was passed.

US became the undisputed leader for a time being because Europe had suffered more in the wars, and US economy was more free. Now is the opposite situation…
Dear Mr.Paul,
You just got my vote, again, with your NO,NO,NO vote to this bail-out that was thrown together. Why didn’t the senate take another
vacation…somthing they’re good at…instead of leaving the people with this can of worms. Maybe it’s time for the people to take back their country. I tryed phoning my senator’s office for two days and the line was always busy. I tryed again today and it’s still busy. I can’t believe people were phoning congratulations.
Keep the faith,
Charlie
I am lifelong Republican Conservative a huge fan of the glory days of Ronald Reagan who understood the importance of deregulation. George W. Bush is a disaster and the Republicans who voted for this make me embarrased to be a Republican. We need a third party run in 2008 by Ron Paul in 4 years things will be worse and Ron is the guy people will listen to as things get worse.
Aside from 4 years from now what is our anwswer right now. Is there a list of 3rd party candidates in the House someone could provide, so we can vote out the losers who supported this. I’m in Long Island, NY and Pete King. HClinton and Chuck Schumer all supported this. I am also afraid Graham Long who’s running on the Democratic ticket, supports this too.
What are my options here?
Help!!!
Will in Long Beach.
Passing this bill only prolongs the pain! It just pushes us deeper into “voluntary enslavement”. Those who voted no on the bill had courage. If they continue to vote no, there may be a real leader there. Politicians and diapers need to be changed often and for the same reason! Einstein said doing things in the same way over and over is insanity. This bill is just doing the same thing over again that brought us to this financial crisis. Really important issues are being ignored in this election. Civilization has mined our planet in every conceivable way. Humankind may be the one obstacle our planet (earth) cannot tollerate , alway taking and not giving back to nature. Do you have a plan “B” and a survival kit ?
I already called and emailed my Congressman (Gingrey) to thank him for the Nay vote. I’ll be campaigning for him during this next month (while working hard against Senator Chambliss, who is also up for reelection).
This is sad.
what now, Ron? The only thing I can think of is to make sure that Nader is on the ticket and to encourage everyone to vote for him as clear message that this is was the wrong choice for our government to make.
Anybody has a list of those who changed their minds?
I’m curious about how all the new porks in the bailout bill affect their vote!!!
My only hope is that every incumbent that voted for this mess be ousted in November. This should send a clear message that they work for us and we do not appreciate being flipped “the bird.” Pay off your debt now if you have any because we can’t stave off the inevitable melt down for long.
All those who voted ‘yea’ ought to lose their jobs! They weren’t listening to the American people. Everyone ought to take their money out of the stock market, not purchase anything but the necessities because we’re all going to have to pay interest on this 700 BILLION dollars they are making out of thin air. We won’t be able to afford to purchase anything anyway with this huge debt that we’ll be paying for the rest of our lives, not to mention our great-great grandchildren who will be paying for this huge mistake Congress shoved down our throats today.
So what can we expect to see from here on out?
