The workers in the third world countries choose to accept the compensation because their alternatives are worse, which is often due to a corrupt government setup where only the politically connected can gain any real wealth. But no company holds a gun to your head and forces you to produce soccer balls or T shirts for 25 cents a day. Jason,

It is impossible to run a business large or small ethically. Being unethical is how all businesses make a profit. What do I mean by that? It is through the exploitation of labor that companies profit. Why else would a company want to manufacture their products in so called "third world countries"? Corporations can make a larger profit if they can exploit the labor of someone in Indonesia or China. Their is nothing ethical about a world capitalist system. All countries, companies, and people compete against one another or kill one another in order to keep profit flowing. International Communism is the only hope for the future of mankind. We own a small business and try to run it ethically. We became behind on some 941 payments and they are now trying to charge us more than we originally owed with assessments and penalties alone.
