The Government and its Allies have agreed to combine their forces and stomp out terrorism, anywhere it may be found, in responding to 9/11. I commend and respect their motive, for this joint decision.

I also recognize 9/11 as our wake up call. I feel a deep sense of compassion, love and sympathy for the families in this Country and around the world for their loss. I also understand that we are responsible for apprehending the people who committed these horrific crimes. I support the President and our Allies in their effort to bring these people to justice. However, with all due respect and support for our President and our Allies, my main concern is the spirit in which the Government and our Allies are responding to this sad event. The whole world has felt the ramification and ripple effect of 9/11and we‘re grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our international community.

It’s interesting that we are all connected to people around the world, mostly by ancestry and relatives, even indigenously. The question is how do you remove a dictator whom the world defines as a tyrant, without destroying its citizens, the innocent ones? This dictator, has oppressed, tormented, even killed his own people, according to reliable sources. We understand that these people [Iraqi citizens] are familiar with terror.

The United States, as we all know, is considered the most powerful country on the globe. In addition to the terror that these people experienced at the hand of Saddam Hussein, can you imagine the immensity of terror and fear the Iraqi people must feel about a likely war with the United States [I’m speaking about the innocent ones]? Our Government along with our Allies would like to surgically remove Saddam Hussein. The mentality and mental-state of our President and Allies are of great importance; they should be of one mind, not animated by hate or revenge, but by their highest sense of justice, in order to succeed in their effort. They must be supersensitive to the patient- [the body], which is Iraqi’s innocent citizens, just like a Doctor, or a surgeon in surgery. When removing a cancer or malignant tumor, he removes the tumor, without killing the patient.  The President along with our Allies has declared war on terrorism. Our weaponry combined with the world’s entire arsenal cannot destroy terrorism; that is absolutely impossible. Terrorism is only the effect, not the cause. We should have the moral courage to consider what’s causing the terrorism, not only abroad, but also here in America. We should go directly to the root of the problem? War is nothing more than a covering; a costly bandage, it’s not a solvent, nor is it a solution for the conflict; no more than when one gets into a fist fight with a sibling or neighbor to solve an argument. What kind of message are we sending out into our international community, about democracy?

The citizens of other countries [according to our news report] are getting the impression that our Government is corrupt.  Is this resolution, the outcome of our Government’s understanding of democracy? Are we bullies? Are we stooping down to the level of a terrorist?  From all the talk shows and the commentators that I’ve listened to, even in the Senate, the root of the problem has never been addressed or even questioned. I only heard reasons why we should or shouldn’t support the President’s resolution. This is not to say that we shouldn’t go after the individuals who committed these atrocities.  Look at what’s going on in Israel today with the war; war on terrorism. They have been fighting it for decades; this war has proven conclusively, that you can’t blow up terrorism.

There’s a wonderful lesson to be learned from Israel’s experience of war on terrorism.  Instead of aiding in bringing peace to Israel, we’ve reconciled to their way of resolve. This act has completely undermined the effort to bring peace to Israel. The fighting in that region is worse than ever before. [Is this hypocritical on our part, or what?]  The Israeli Government is using our Government’s concept to justify their effort in stomping out terrorism. Our actions in this matter aren’t moral and they undermine the stability of our relations with the Allies.  I do support the President in going after Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. However, this effort should be in concert [if possible] with our international community, the United Nations.

The war on drugs is another great example on the use of military force. What about the war on drugs? Are we a drugless country as the result of our effort? [We’ve been fighting it for many years] The answer is no! The cost of this operation is tremendous; the casualties on both sides are tragic. What about the terrorism in our own country? If we can’t handle it here on a small scale, how can we destroy it on a larger scale? . War and killing has never truly solved the problems. One side is defeated with all their resentment and hatred, eventually the so-called enemy; they will rise up again.   We are a great Nation, not because of our arsenal of weapons, but because of our constitution our democratic system, our stance.   Our nation is mostly composed of people who believe in God. In “The Pledge of Allegiance”, one of the lines reads “one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.  Is this Nation of ours, truly under God? What about liberty and justice for all? Is there freedom and fairness for all of our citizens?   On the American dollar [our currency] it reads “In God we trust.” How much do we really trust in God? [My late brother once said,] “We trust in God as far as we can spit” We should pray to God for all of our answers.

It seems to me that God has been taken out of everything. This act has undermined the integrity of the Country and our beliefs.  Former President Kennedy said” Its’ not what your Country can do for you, it’s what you can do for your Country”. Our Government needs the Country’s prayerful support. [Not only in these sad times, but always] The solution to the problem start within us as citizens, through our individual effort to do the right thing, the correct answers will come! Individually and collectively we must make changes in our lives.

There is a great need for unconditional love and support along with understanding, respect, and a great sense of compassion for our fellow beings. Our love and support shouldn’t be exclusive to the United States; it should reach around the world. Do we really think that God only loves people in the United States? When I hear people say” God bless America” [especially when a tragic event materializes in America] it makes me shiver; not because it isn’t true, but the spirit in which it is said.

As a predominantly Christian nation we are humanitarian; we care about everyone in this Country and our world. Success is based upon morality, ethics and excellence.  In proportion as we apply these in our lives, the system will work.  Excellence, [in part] according to Webster’s dictionary means” State of possessing good qualities in an eminent degree; a virtue.” Webster defines morality as “moral quality or character; righteousness; virtue.” From this we understand that excellence is always in proportion to its moral content. Webster also defines the word Economy:  “Theol. A form of divine Government or regulation of human affairs”. What is the moral code that we should live by? The Ten Commandments is our moral code. The Ten Commandments are our guidelines.

After the tragedy on 9/11 people were asking where was God, how could he let this atrocity happen?  With all due respect and compassion for these people, my question to them is- what happens when you break the law in this country? Let’s say you killed someone, we all know that you would land in jail. If we don’t obey the Ten Commandments in our lives we have problems.  For example, if I hate my neighbor for some reason, I’m breaking the Ten Commandments.  To hate someone means to kill; bear in mind that hate is the cause, killing is the effect. [Isn’t the world’s conflict based upon hatred?] Even if you don’t commit the physical act of killing someone, the thought is in your heart.  If this thought is in your mind, you have already committed the crime, simply by entertaining hate in your mind. If you don’t defeat it with in your mind, it will manifest itself in one way or another outside of your mind. Jesus refers to this in the Bible. Matt: 15:19.”For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.” The Ten Commandments came from God, They are His will; they are our protection; they constitute our fundamental beliefs, our prosperity and existence. If we’re not obedient to these Commandments, how can we expect God to protect us? Even in this world, when children disobey their parents or the laws of the land, whether it’s taking prohibited drugs or engaging in any illegal activities the result is, problems with the law.
“You do the crime; you do the time.”

We think because God is love and good [which He is] that we can live our lives the way we want and when we get into trouble, either we call upon Him for help, or blame Him for the problem. The punishment ceases when the immorality stops. We are all held accountable for our actions. We make our own hell by disobedience to God, but when we listen to God and obey his word then we are the manifestation of heaven! The moral aspect is at the heart of our lives; it’s the most important element of our being and is essential to our development, protection, prosperity, and triumph!  The moral aspect makes a big difference in our business world, also the stock market and in our economy, because of a Divine intervention. Allow me to illustrate. Take mathematics and a mathematician; the mathematician understands the science, its’ laws, the principle and rules of mathematics. When he’s confronted with a mathematical problem, there’s neither fear nor doubt; on the contrary, he loves the challenge, it gives him the opportunity to flex his muscles. His resolution however, doesn’t depend upon supporters or adversaries. But, because his resolution is scientific, it proves itself. How does this apply to our worldly problems, you ask? Let’s think about morality, the moral aspect. The mathematician is like the metaphysician. The metaphysician understands divine Science [morality], its’ laws and rules the Principle of all existence.

Just like the mathematician, the metaphysician, when he’s confronted with a problem, financial, physical or worldly, there isn’t any sense of fear or doubt. On the contrary, he loves the challenge; it gives him the opportunity to flex his understanding. His resolution doesn’t depend upon supporters or adversaries as well.  Because it is scientific, it proves itself! Moral values, if practiced would make a big difference in our society. The explosion of materialism- [corruption] that has invaded our industries our schools, the Government, the sports arena, even in our churches would evaporate! We would be putting God back into everything. Our news media, seem to sensationalize negative news, the reporting is very graphic in its coverage, perhaps for the ratings.  This doesn’t help the mental state of our country. Along with the other elements of corruption on television and in our world, it breeds apathy. The lack of love and morality has created a dark cloud over our Country along with the right conditions for the problems that we’re facing.  Our Country is mentally asleep. Have you ever had a dream and thought that you had awakened and in this dream someone was attacking you in your bed and you couldn’t move to defend yourself? In your terror you realized, you were still asleep. Naturally, with courage, you would turn away from the assailant and try to rouse yourself and wake up out of the nightmare. [Note] it was in your terror that you realized, you were asleep. This was your wake up call. 9/11 was our wake up call. In order to wake up we must first recognize that we’re asleep, [asleep to what’s right] We must discover the moral courage within us, then rouse ourselves out of apathy, to be sober and alert to what’s right!

Our biggest conflict is here at home, in our homeland, all the stuff that’s going on in these United States. We need to address it all! Unconditional love and respect should animate our attitude toward our fellow man. We must get back to moral values and put God first in our lives. Then and only then will it make a difference in our homes, our communities our State, the Country and our Government, and finally the world.
