Ron Paul: Happy 4th of July!

Ron Paul: I’d like to take a minute and wish all the friends of freedom a happy 4th of July. This is a very important day in our history, and some days I wish we would remember more of what the 4th of July is all about. But it is a great day and the spirit is always upbeat. On 4th of July we’ll be attending a big parade in the district. But after that I want to take a little bit time off and spend some time at a family barbeque and at home. And I know a lot of you will those same types of festivities on this particular day.

But always remember, the 4th of July is when we did make a declaration. We made a declaration of independence. And it is interesting to note that if you go back and look at what the Declaration of Independence actually says, and if you stand up and support those views today, you’re liable to be put on a subversive list.

So we have our job cut out for ourselves. So we should think about the overall picture of where our country has been, where it is going and how difficult the task is and what a great job has been done and should be done with the continuation of the campaign for liberty.

More than 2,000 tea parties from coast to coast attracted hundreds of thousands tax and Big Government protesters on Independence Day – perhaps the biggest July 4 political event in America since the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence.

From Washington and New York on the East Coast to Los Angeles and Monterey on the West Coast and all points between, Americans had their say yesterday about bailouts, cap-and-trade bills and new federal spending programs that they believe are mortgaging their children’s futures and robbing them of personal freedom.

Nearly 5,000 people turned out in Oklahoma City at the state Capitol building. That protest was one of 32 in Oklahoma alone.

In San Antonio, Texas, between 3,000 and 4,000 gathered in intense heat throughout the day at the Rio Cibolo Ranch.

In Washington, D.C., the center of expanding federal powers, about 2,000 small-government advocates rallied to express their outrage at the trillion-dollar “stimulus” plans.

At Miller Park in Marietta, Georgia the Cobb Independence Day Tea Party continued yesterday into a second day with more than 2,000 people in attendance. Hundreds also rallied in Atlanta.

Some 2,000 people gathered in Morristown, N.J., to mark the nation’s birth with and protest the growing size of government. Another dozen rallies were planned yesterday in New Jersey.

    Louisville, Ky., 1,500 turned out.

In Olympia, Wash., about 1,500 turned out for a rally on the Capitol campus.

In Montgomery, Ala., some 500 protesters gathered at Overlook Park

In Reno, Nev., organizer Debbie Landis put the crowd at 3,000.

About 300 turned out in Asheville, N.C.

More than 2,000 turned out in Yuma, Arizona.

Nearly 2,000 turned out in Tyler, Texas.

    300 in Omaha, Nebraska

700 turned out in Altoona, Wis.

About 1,500 turned out in Columbia, S.C

    Del Rio, Texas -300

    Norwich, Connecticut – 500

Close to 3000 gathered in Ventura County, California

I am compiling figures for another 60+ cities and towns.
Please post something from your hometown with a link to news or video for confirmation.

Exciting times, Folks. I’ll think take a week off before I start preparations for September 12th.

    God Save Our Republic

I just got back from a TEA party here in Charleston SC. The turn out was ok but I don’t believe enough people were aware they were going on today. At least there was the local channel 5 news taking video, however you have to wonder about what kind of spin their producers put on these things…

    • jacob

The problem with today’s Tea Parties is that the FOX news didn’t promote them. While there are still numerous people like us that support a truly limited gov’t, the tea parties on Tax day (at least here in Ohio) were full of the ‘bandwagon’ libertarians who support the PATRIOT ACT and had never heard of Ayn Rand until Nov. 2008.

Independence day, we truly have reaped what they have sowed. However we have also flushed it down the toilette. Maybe before i die i will actually get to see this country experience true independence again.

  • Sean is a fool.

Allow me to prove why Sean is a fool.

First of all the war was fought for Israel and to re-make the region stronger for Israel, stealing their resources for power and pure greed.,4273,4493638,00.html

Second of all we all know that the Federal Reserve controls everything in each branch, and they covered this up, and they know why it was covered up.

So yeah…I do not think so Sean, your friend Bernanke is calling

    • Ross

Sean is no ordinary fool,he is the resident village idiot who is pushing his own agenda of parasitic priviledge along with the Fed.Sean will argue that black is white just to distract people from the real issues.

Without the Fed creating counterfeit money, the share market would not be able expand into this unsustainable bubble whereby the few,can screw the many who create the real productivity.

The bubble economy has now separated from the real economy, starving the real economy of the capacity to produce.Obama has not a clue, instigating more regulation and giving more power to the Fed.Obama has put the foxes in charge of the hen house.

The US is currently losing almost half a million jobs per month. This means that real businesses are going to the wall taking jobs with them. The Obamination of the US economy must soon end.
