With all these issues regarding identification theft and such, in addition to the illegal immigration issues, who's to say National ID would stop it? We've heard already about big companies having their databases compromised by glitches and hackers, with sensitive information falling into the wrong hands. Goodness, the implications for a nation wide ID are incredibly terrifying! Add that with the privacy issues, and it truly proves itself to be a seriously unsound system.
