For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty

As the 2007-08 presidential campaign cycle offered up the usual slate of Washington insiders, Ron Paul, an obscure Congressman from Texas brought an alternative voice that challenged the political establishment.

Advocating a philosophy of sound money, a non-interventionist foreign policy, strict Constitutionalism, and individual liberty, Dr. Paul inspired a unique grassroots movement unmatched in American history – the repercussions of which continue to reverberate today and into the future of the American psyche.

For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty follows this historic campaign from the perspective of grassroots activists, and showcases the unique, often bizarre, yet groundbreaking projects they undertook as they brushed aside traditional campaign methodology.

The “withered tree” is the perfect way to describe our job market ever since the Libertarians joined forces with the Republican Party.

Eric Mussen, an apiculturist or bee expert at the University of California, Davis, said it costs U.S. beekeepers about $1.40 to make a pound of honey, including colony maintenance, transportation to honey production areas, harvesting and packing. Before tariffs, he said, Chinese honey was coming into the U.S. at about 35 cents per pound.

“Obviously, this is not a ‘level playing field,'” Mussen wrote in an e-mail response to questions.

Mussen said if the antidumping tariffs were lifted, sales of U.S. honey “would probably drop way off, but not necessarily to zero. Many U.S. beekeepers would go out of business.”

Fewer bees also could affect crops like California almonds, which rely on commercial crop pollination services that are carried out by bees, he said. – AP

If Ronny and Randy have their way we will unilaterally eliminate all tariffs and remove all limits and quotas on visas. They will turn us into China. They and thier ilk have already gone a long way toward doing just that. It’s time for Conservatives to be Conservatives.

NO, the Pauls do not stand for unfair and predatory trade policy. They stand up for free market balance without corrupt government cronyism. Our government is deeply engaged in “special favors” for big business. The GOP is so vested in crony politics, they can’t afford Ron Raul because his ethics won’t tolerate this selective special political payoffs.

Ron Paul’s 2008 campaign was exemplary and demonstrated the highest level of political integrity. But the GOP isn’t about integrity, that’s why they nominated John McCain a dyed in the wool RINO. McCain’s voting record is riddled with leftist votes.

We support Ron Paul because LIBERTY means NO COMPROMISE!

      • Dfens

So if you reduce tariffs for the right reason then they won’t have the effect of putting Americans out of jobs like if you reduce them for the wrong reasons? The simple life of a true believer must be so wonderful.

    • Yvonne

      You’re kidding?
The AP is whining because China’s low honey prices could effect America’s bee keepers which they say would cause California’s almond crops to fail if less beekepers create less bees and now their is less cross pollination???
Anise hyssop is just one plant/weed which can sustain and attract bees.
Weeds that attract and sustain bees are very abundent.
Someone should tell the AP that Government intervention is not needed for cross pollination; just a few bee friendly weeds which a five year old could sow in one day.
Oh and maybe the bee keepers in America could produce the honey for less money if this WICKED government would stop taxing them….

      • Dfens

Federal income tax is 40% and if we eliminated that completely then, according to you, it would make up for the 400% difference in honey prices? That should be a neat trick. Next you’ll tell us that elminating federal taxes will ensure the drugs the Chinese bee keepers give their bees won’t make US consumers sick with aplastic anemia any more too, right? Wait, that part must be the Fed’s fault somehow.

        • Yvonne

Bee keepers aren’t needed for bees to procreate and pollinate. Bees do that on their own so the AP lied when they said beekeepers were needed for cross pollination of almond crops.
Federal taxes are 40%? What about property taxes? Payroll taxes? Local taxes?

        • Yvonne

Also when it comes to sales, cheaper is not always better, when the economy is moving. Quality matters. The idea of Americans lining up to buy cheap food from overseas would only be true during a serious depression and, we wouldn’t be in a serious depression if it weren’t for the feds. Is Nancy Pelosi still paying 100s of dolars for each bottle of champaigne they consume??? If so then Americans should be financially secure enough to give farmers a few extra dimes for locally grown honey. Come now…you want stuff from overseas instead? Of course you don’t. If we can’t give our local farmers a few extra dimes and if they can’t afford to produce the honey because of federal, local, payroll and property taxes then…this wicked wicked government needs to go.

There’s still time to save this country. If there weren’t so much waste in this huge government we’d have the most prevalent country on the planet by far. Instead, we struggle to be one of the top nations. We need to get back to basics. We need to believe that freedom and liberty are most important things to us. If we take these things seriously, we can actually do something positive for us. Things start at home. If we’re in the positive then we can make the world positive.

    Ron Pauls the man!
We need people in politics like him here in Sweden.

  • Nexus974

Ron Paul was the only one who actually ran for President as it’s defined in the Constitution instead of Caesar of the American Empire.

  • LatinLeo86

Ron Paul is the reason I wake up every morning.

  • cilution

    Ahh, memories.

If by chance he does run again in 2012, I hope all of his support base comes back in full force, and then some. I’d be excited to see the creativity for a round 2.

On a side note, go donate a couple bucks at schiffforsenate today. It’s the last fundraising day of the quarter, and he’s personally putting in $2 for every $1 raised. Schiff was Paul’s economic advisor during the campaign, if you didn’t know.

  • L.O.C.

YES!!! This is exactly what was needed to be made, this is an absolutely incredible documentary and was even a tear jerker ; ) The Ron Paul Revolution lives on! Ron has more supporters than ever before including the majority of young people, if Ron Paul runs in 2012, He will Win! We The People are responsible for saving our once great country and Ending Tyranny once and for all, Be the Change you wish to see in this world, Vote Ron Paul 2012! We are the revolution, stand up, make Ron Paul Revolution signs, pass out constitutions, spread knowledge and truth, and turn off the damn TV’s already!

  • augietyson

ill vote 4 Ron Paul every time he runs, but if you think he has a chance of defeating the status quo your kidding yourself. Ive been 2 the tea parties, I’ve been 2 the town meetings and the numbers are too few. I’m 24 years old, Ive served two tours in iraq, and everyday i see consumerism and mass media further lobotomize its citizens into sheep. This nation will fall, I just hope Ron Paul supporters will remember his message.

Not trying to be negative, just honest. no point in sugarcoating it.

    • Citizen

If the supreme court votes to take my guns which they were so close to doing. Thats it they openly want a horrible civil war with gun owners and they want us to be poor slaves with nothing to our names. Globalism has economically destroyed the world.

  • Graham6762

YEAH RON PAUL BABY so glad I voted for that great man and if the american public had at least a 70 IQ he would be president.
