Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed Fails 229-198




Ron Paul’s attempt to audit the Federal Reserve, which was previously co-sponsored by 320 members of the House (HR 1207), failed by a vote of 229-198. All Republicans voted in favor of the measure with 23 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote with Republicans. 114 co-sponsors of HR 1207, all Democrats, jumped ship and voted against Audit the Fed.

The GOP had offered the Fed audit as the minority’s last chance to alter the financial regulation bill. The bill does have an watered-down audit provision in the conference report, but it is limited to loans made by the Fed during the height of the economic crisis. Ron Paul’s bill would have allowed a total examination of the Fed’s books.

    any statistics re: the banks are certainly warranted. just promise me you don't mean statistics about 'prosperity' and supply (my) side theories.

    the banking statistics need to be augmented by these:

    a) the income of the top 1% of income earners equals that of the bottom 150 million

    b) the % income the top 1% was collecting at the time of the crash was nearly 24%, equal to that just prior to the great depression

    c) the average wealth of white households in america is FIFTEEN TIMES that of black households

    and these stats ain't got nothing to do with the fantasy of a liberal media bias.

    stick to the stats on the banks. stick to the stats on the fed. stick to the stats on the wealthy and the increasing wage gap in this country.

  3. GET OUT YOUR RIFLES AND TO HUNTING AMERICA, IS THIS TREASON OR WHAT ?

    At this point, instead of putting numbers and statistics in front of people, i’ve been concentrating my efforts on simply making them aware of some of the ideas and concepts essential to establishing the free economy and abundant prosperity they are entitled to, the things which have been preventing this thus far and giving them the ideas which they need to think about in order to motivate them to make this happen for themselves.

    What we need is for someone here, who’s better at finding and comparing the statistics for the US than i am to post them here so we can supplement the concepts with them as well, but then national statistics like this don’t even come close to illustrating the severity of the problem either and here is the reality of it and the real statistics as they effect the average person in America today. Everyone knows the current situation through their own experience, and I have a nephew who works as a police officer in a city close to me here, and his situation would be typical of the vast majority of people living and working in most American cities. His gross salary is around $ 40,000 a year which would equate to about $ 3,300.00 a month. Out of that, over $ 2,000 goes to the bank every month in mortgage / interest payments on his house so that he can maintain a place to live and will for the next 30 years. Of the $ 1,300 that’s left, assuming a 20 % income tax level, another $ 600.00 goes to the government so they can pay the banks for creating the currency they need to function which they should have created for us and themselves, leaving him with $ 700.00. Of that $ 700.00 another $ 49.00 goes up in sales taxes to fund the state government who also loan the money for their operations from banks. Of the $ 651.00 that’s left at least $ 100.00 a month goes up in property taxes which he has to pay in order to keep his place to live, which goes to the county and city government which again loan the money for their operations from banks. This finally leaves him with only $ 551.00 to spend and inject back onto circulation in order to generate useful production which can benefit himself and the rest of us.

    Total Monthly earnings:
    $ 3,300.00
    Total consumed by banks and because of banks in order to buy power and ownership over America and its population for themselves:
    $ 2,749.00
    Total being spent into the economy to generate useful production for the benefit of the American population:
    $ 551.00

    This is what we got, and that is what the banks got. Is there one single F’ing idiot anywhere who can still believe and can try to explain how such a system can be sustainable, or possibly benefit the people it is intended to serve ?

    What would the standard of living for each and every person in America be today if we didn’t have banks and the governments they establish, who neither build anything, fix anything nor feed anyone, consuming 5/6ths. of our capacity to pay for and generate useful production for our own benefit ?

    6 times what it is today.

    Whom does the current American economy and political establishment exist to serve ?

    I’ll leave that for everyone to answer for themselves.

    What should we do about it ?

    Everyone copy paste and email the living crap out of this one and get it into circulation among the general public where everyone can see it, these are the hard numbers as they affect most peoples lives which when put in front of people's faces will actually make them think and figure out what they should have long ago and hopefully bring us closer to motivating the public action we need in order to free ourselves and save America from its F'ing parasites.

    Email it to Obama and as many senators and congressman as you can as well, maybe we can terrify them enough to do our job for us and get rid of our problem before people decide to get rid if them. There's 350.000.000 of us, against 6 banking families who currently own and control America and its political system, guess who's going to win ?

  4. the vote which we should really be getting p-ssed off about is the one yesterday re: campaign financing, and the 'personhood' that's been granted by the supreme court to corporations and special interest groups. i heard y'day that a group of seven companies kicked in $100K APIECE - one of them Target - to produce ads to back one of the candidates there for governor. Target actually kicked in $150,000!!!

    without pulling the rug out from under that bullsh-t, we as ordinary people don't stand a chance in influencing the voting anywhere. the democratic bill that was defeated y'day may have had flaws, but where is the republican bill? nowhere.

    campaign finance is the real issue of our times - without it, we'll continue to be held captive by the politicians and corporate/special interests who are in bed together but spend time screwing you and me...

  5. Read the book, "The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve" and you will understand why auditing the Fed can't happen. If it did, it would bring their little world down around them and they're just too powerful to let that happen. Their reach is global.. The people would literally have to sidestep the politicians to bring them down.. They own our government, period.. They stole it from us in 1913 with the backing of European financiers.. Imagine what would have happened if we had the internet then. Things might be different because people would have know what they were up too...not just a select few..

    should your prediction come to pass - a republican majority - i'd bet you dollars to donuts that they won't pass a vote to audit the fed, much less pass something that does a legitimate audit. i would even go so far as to wager that an audit-the-fed bill doesn't even get a straight up or down vote.

    as to freddie and fannie, any legislation against them is as too-narrowedly focused as what just got passed. the republicans want to say the only problem is the GSEs; the dems want to say the only problem is the banks. each is wrong in itself, but right in combination.

  7. We just saw the bill to audit the feds being shot down with 320 cosponsors...truly remarkable. Ron Paul is doing all he can to wake people up to the plight of the dollar. But few are interested...YET. Here is another bill 4248 that has only ONE sponsor Ron Paul...proof that the feds have no interest in helping America to stop the inflation.

    I wish the Tea Party would take one step further and not only want taxes overhauled but ask that our financial structure also be overhauled. The Federal Reserve must be rained in.

    The problem is that RP makes to much sense for the common man. Common man wants the NWO and "wealth distribution." The United States...well no...the "Federated America" is in an all out world take over bid. They have used the shiny coin entitlement stratagem to blind the American entitlement "social" crowd instilling a feeling in them of safety in the arms of Uncle Sam... They are clueless of where their benefits even come from. They are unwilling to see that social means socialistic in the words of the wealth redistributes.

    The NWO has tested and seceded in this stratagem in America and now hope to blind and take over the world with this re distribution of wealth scam currently called cap and trade. The world stands ready to take the worthless checks from America to build on a sand foundation. Once most of the world is under the hypnotic spell of the almighty dollar and its socialistic benefactor...the plug will be pulled and the NWO financial domination will ensue. Our government has become evil. One world government will not be won with armies. It will be won with financial stratagem.

    Ron Paul stands alone. He is not for government he is for the people. He is old world old school and old "organic" constitutionalists. He will probably go down in history with little or no notice of him in the history books. But he will burn forever in my heart and in the hand full of the true and real patriots of the true Republic or the United States...for which HE stands...

      As an addenda: Those of you who have read the masterpiece "The Creature From Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve" truly understand this issue.

      The Federal Reserve is literally the tool of government slave owners. We are their slaves, whom they give a great deal of freedom to, so long as we remain on the plantation, using "plantation scrip" (Federal Reserve Notes).

      Now, I am of the mind that the corruption goes even further: people who are morally corrupt seek government positions, and people who are not morally corrupt seek to provide value in exchange for value. Hmmmm, let me see, are these enlightenment values? YES! Everyone from Friedrich Hayek, Lysanders Spooner, Henry David Thoreau, Ayn Rand, Leonard Peikoff, Thomas Paine, and even newly-converted Marxists like Christopher Hitchens agree with this.

      There is a consensus, even among those who are relatively uninformed: the Federal Reserve is USURY.

      So the question is: DO WE UNITE AGAINST IT AS MEN, WHO DARE TO PROTECT OUR OWN LIBERTY?

      DO WE COWER DOWN LIKE DOGS, AND LICK THE HAND THAT FEEDS US (AND BEATS US)?!!!

      Right now, freedom fighters don't post their numbers, for two reasons:
      1) They don't want to communicate with other freedom lovers
      2) They feel it will compromise their security and allow government goons into their lives

      #1 is lazy, and #2 is unrealistic. As far as #2 is concerned: There is already no privacy. The goons already know who you are. There is no keeping a "low profile" in the USSA. It's best to talk to everyone.

    depends. is that the first tarp vote, or the second? the house had a lot of nays that went yea on the second vote. in that regards it seems hard to tell what those first votes actually meant.

    if any of you are in georgia congressional district #13, i urge you to consider voting in the primary for republican mike crane. he seems to be a very level-headed guy. i've voted for incumbent david scott (democrat) a couple of times, but i don't think that being a rubber stamp for the president is useful anymore. deborah travis-honeycutt is a republican candidate for the third consecutive election; she has raised gobs more money than anyone else, but most of this money is from out-of-state. further, she calls herself an 'independent republican', which to me is like 'jumbo shrimp', 'fair tax' and 'rap music'... :)

  10. I am totally for Auditing the Fed, but someone here got me thinking. Was this measure as simple as who wants to Audit the Fed? I know that the Government oftentimes pins on other non-related bills to these things. Is it possible that there was a bunch of undesirable stuff pinned onto this one? Any idea how I can find this out on my own? I do really want to be educated in this and fully understand what really went down here. I would really like to know from each person, why they voted against Auditing the Fed. I can't think of any reason to be against this, unless I am corupt and in someones pocket.

  11. lindsey, i just don't think it's that simple.

    your point: 'the people who voted against the measure are just not sold on the reason for the audit.' i think i give them more credit than that (pun intended). i think they know full well the reason for the audit. as do republicans. and i think they are both against a meaningful audit.

    as i drop in here and there on the internet and discuss things with people, the only consistent point i try to make is that government as it stands now does not comprise a bunch of folks on white horses and a bunch of folks on black horses. there are very, very few folks on white horses, and their voices are seldom heard in the political climate we're in, where both sides show little tolerance for rational thinking and good solutions.

    it's pretty clear to me that the way the vote was packaged did not mean the republicans were up for a strict audit of the fed, and the democrats weren't. lest we forget, it was the republicans - with hank paulson at the center - who packaged the bulk of the tarp, and gave it no-strings-attached through the fed to the banks. and all of a sudden they are the good guys screaming that we need to know what's going on inside the banking system? that i cannot believe.

    if they are the white knights, then they are grossly stupid and seem to have been royally duped less that two years ago.

Also, if you go back to the original vote on TARP you will find the ones that voted against TARP as reliable allies (there are a few exceptions) in the movement to audit the Fed. I agree with you that most were not duped although some were and now realize it. We need to give those people the benefit of the doubt if they will come out and say they were duped.

  12. Just string the bastards who co-sponsored it but voted against it up. This was political deception, and even most Democrats and Republicans don't agree with political deception. Sadly, too few of them know that this went on. It's our job to inform them, until our numbers are great enough to march on Washington DC and eliminate this bogus puppet government.

Any Senator or Representative who does not understand that the U.S. will be dissolved by the International Bankers should watch THE MONEY MASTERS on You Tube. The Charter Bank needs to lose its charter for the U.S. to survive. The next step is to dissolve our borders. All other issues are irrelevant in the face of The American Union, The European Union, The African Union, and the Asian Union.

  13. after doing a little digging, i don't think this post is being totally honest.

    the republicans wanted to send the financial reform bill back to conference committee to try to weaken (my view - yours may be different) the already too-weak (my view) provisions about margins around derivatives. they had the previous commitment of the 320 members of congress who indicated they were in favor of the audit, so they used this as a ploy to say, 'you said you were for this - here's your chance to really vote for it - and by the way, if you vote for it, the bill goes back to committee, and if you don't, we have you on record as being against an audit of the fed.'

    in short, it was really political game-playing, and not a straight up, 'are you in favor of auditing the fed?' which this post implies.

    if the amendment had come up by itself, my hunch is it would have found a more favorable reception - but, then again, i think everyone in congress is beholden to the banks in some way, so either a real audit would likely fail, or a meaningless audit would pass.

    but to paint the republicans as saviors of the people and desiring in their hearts to rid the hold that the banks and corporations have on our county - would anyone really believe that - even in a movie? c'mon. let's remain intelligent here. who among you didn't raise eyebrows when you saw the title of the bill and which party was lock-step in favor of it?

    bottom line is i think we need to be a little more honest here about what really happened. leave the spin to someone else. truth wins out.

    • Spud: Obviously the people who voted against the measure are just not sold on the reason for the audit. The reason is that we don't trust the Fed. These people that voted against the measure that sponsored it don't understand the importance of the issue and probably co-sponsored it just to say they are for transparency! Obviously when push comes to shove they are in the Fed's corner and NOT for transparency!

    • The bottom line is that there are always "little games" and manipulation that goes on. There is never a perfect "straight up" bill in today's political world.

      Therefore, the truth is that you give up a little to help out a lot...that's what working together means. This is a MAJOR issue and all should have voted for it.

      Irregardless I didn't see it as savior moment for the GOP or a devil moment for the dems. The GOP knows it's not in power so they had more reason to vote for it. The dems figured they win by voting against it because "a" bill will still pass.

    • What did 1207 do?
      #1 It got us motivated to bug our Congressmen to co-sponsor Ron Paul's bill.
      #2 We forced congressmen through our communications to do just that.
      # 3 Proved that an organized opposition can force congress to pay attention to us and actually join our side even if it's only temporary.

      We all knew, or at least suspected, that dirty tricks were waiting to kill the bill, but it forced Bernanke and that entire establishment bunch to join forces to respond to this clear and present danger to their "house of cards " operation. It proved that an organized electorate can get these types of freedom bills moving forward even when the entire establishment is called in to stop it! The dumb and stupid ordinary congressman was shaken to some degree and took notice that his constituents are concerned with other things besides pork.

      We all should be proud of that achievment but we all know what we need in congress are more Ron Paul- type congressmen.

    Therefore ,I will address and respond to public officials when they are speaking too persaude me to vote for them, with an ' in your face ' you are lying and are not to be respected attitude.
    It is way past time to put these public servents in their place. And since most incumbants have not obeyed their oath, they will not receive ANY respect from me. In fact they need to be shouted down and disgraced in public.

    Tea parties need to get aggressive, since we see how elected officials have responded to kid gloves and cordial questions.

    Our REPUBLIC will end up on the trash heap of history,unless we start to show disrepect and civil disobediance to the UNCONSTITUTIONAL rules and laws of the masters . Our CONgress has be bought and paid for and no kind words will make them change their behavior.

    Vote them all out is my wish, but if we keep playing by their rules we will run out of time and loose our REPUBLIC. I for one will go to the mat to stop that from happening.

      Why allow the central authorities to use this form of protest (street civil disobedience)
      to use as an excuse to impose martial law? We have the Net to organize our meetings and events so that will be taken away under the pretext of bringing "order to society."

      Agent provacateurs have no doubt been at Tea Party type marches seeking ways to stir up the crowds.

      This type of tactic (civil disobedience) is strictly reserved for the Left. It is used effectively by the left but the left has the assitance of the managed Major Media to make them look less evil than they really are. In the case of these leftwing nuts protesting at G-20 summit meeting I would not be surprised to learn that the G-20 summiters pay these anarchists to demonstrate at these events.

      Olde Bail-out Barrett voted for CAFTA, Fast Track, TARP under Bush. This had the devaasting effect of sending our jobs overseas and increasing our Illegal invasion problems also. Then he had the nerve of running for Governor with a solgan: "Putting South Carolina back to work"! What a hippocrate!

      Yes, I have been called a Liar by some of his people But, check his voting record (Congressional Record) and see for your self.

      I agree with this comment too! However, the Greenwood County (Lakelands) Tea Party led by a few "Olde Bail-Out" Barrett supporters actually endorsed him for governor AFTER LEARNING THE TRUTH about violating his Oath of Office to support the US Constitution and HOW HE VOTED!

      SO, I suggest the TEA PARTIES not endorse a candidate currently holding office, only show his voting record and his adherence to the constitution!

      All, candidates not holding office or prior office, the TEA PArties should show what the candidate has said, printed, and or statements signed pledging to do.

      I for one will not support a candidate that has "comprised this principle"!
