Ron Paul on C-SPAN’s Newsmakers

When the 112th Congress convenes next month, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) will become the chairman of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and will have Congressional oversight of the Federal Reserve.

On C‑SPAN’s Newsmakers, he shares his concerns regarding the agency’s monetary policies. In the past, the representative has been very vocal in his criticism of the way the Fed is handled and has gone so far as to propose that it be eliminated in his latest book, “End the Fed.”

Rep. Paul also explain his agenda concerning financial issues and how they harmonize with the incoming Republican-majority’s overall agenda, as well as efforts to stimulate the sagging U.S. economy.

  1. The key is to have a stable supply of money to correspond with the demand of money. While the supply of money is erratic, how can the true interest rate in relation to demand be determined? Many bankers know this, but until we do something about it.. they will perpetuate this system because it makes the people at the top of it extremely wealthy and powerful.

  3. Supply and demand are the root of everything. The FED cant tell someone "you want this". People need what they need and want what they want. Suppliers fulfill this demand to be able to get what they want themselves. Money facilitates the transfer of the GDP, and therefore should grow only so much as GDP. If conditions are bad (war), government should increase taxes or sell bonds, not print more money. With fair boundaries, DEMAND for capital in relation to supply will adequately set int. rates.

  4. The Fed and our politicians have been rewarding failure, by picking winners and losers. The losers have been the taxpayers.

  8. and really "most other Americans"?? Based on what data is this guy making his confident statement? According to the most recent polls, most Americans reject Keynesian Economics and want a full audit of the Fed. These hosts need to make it less obvious they are being paid by the Fed to support it.

  9. This Brit is a tool. It;s not his fault, he just hasn't studied history or how the Fed was created. But most importantly, the WHY the Fed was created is the point he's wrong about. It was created because the treasury was bankrupt and the Fed was the only backer who would give them credit, in return for pledging their 'citizens' as social security debtors to federal reserve notes. It's a triple sin against sound economics and freedom.

  10. I'm sick of Fake Cartoon Patriots that only regurgitate what their flock spews around them! We need to break ourselves from this slavery and tyranny they have us in.
The Elite have become very arrogant and bold in their actions. So much so they are robbing us in our face in broad daylight while politicians keep making us promises while we the people sit, wait and jump from election cycle to the next, just as planned.
Then some of you say take our country back? When have we had it. What years?

  12. Not only does Ron Paul make absolute sense to me he can also create examples to follow along with what he previously said so that he makes even more sense. Ron Paul never beats around the bush he always answers the question unlike Obama. Obama never answers a question the way I would expect a president to and I sincerely dislike Obama in every way.

  14. while TONS of people absolutely love Ron Paul (myself included) he has already said he doesn't plan to run in 2012 (i know he hasn't said no but he said he isn't planning to as of right now) but I wonder if there is some way he could be convinced otherwise. If he doesn't run I'm votin for Donald Trump! lol

  15. you got that right. A possible road warrior scenerio is looming that's why I've been talking to some of my friends who may not fully understand why the US is going down but they do know things are really bad. I couldn't possibly sustain myself in the wilderness (I think) but working the farm I think I can handle. Realistically I don't think it's going to be hell over night but destruction of the middle class is going to accelerate.

  19. Ron Paul; one of very few men that make any sense in D.C., and that is a very sad thing to say.
