First off when it comes down to war I'm mostly against it, however under my circumstances my dad depends on his job as a marine in Afghanistan because he was out of a job for a year so he needs to be stationed there due to his job title as a translator and if he wasn't in Afghanistan he wouldn't have a job. So there are attributes to this being a good thing and a bad thing. But it would save America tons of money. Everyone's preference is different and mostly depends on your life's circumstances is what I'm trying to get at in this little story. I just like Ron Paul better than gingrich, santorum, and Romney. He seems like a leader that would get things done and bring more peace

  3. What is freedom?

That I have found in an other blog and I agree:

An open letter to David Cameron!

    Mr. David William Donald Cameron,

you have said that parts of English society are sick, without a sense of responsibility. You're right. But it's not the people you have mentioned. It's the politicians, the bankers, the industrialists; that people who have robbed the people for decades. And now that the stupid little people imitate you, you get scared. That's good. The battle for truth has begun - and people like you are to blame! You have never helped more that the politicans and the bankers can steal more from the people worldwide than in the past three years. Now it looks like that your fruit is harvested. I congratulate you for this intimate performance, you now want to blame these perpetrators.

As has been said by Ron Paul: Don't steal, the government hates competition.

The Korean War was a fifty year old war, and not much of a war but a conflict. Having said that, just because you're a Korean war vet, doesn't mean we're still at war with Korea. This is North Korea, the country that divided itself AFTER the Korean war, from South Korea.

Is the US still at war with Japan and Germany and Italy since WWII? Hmm. 8D

    Is that your rebuttal? Well.

You fail good sir. If we were at war by now, we'd be declared war... we didn't. Congress didn't declare war against North Korea, AS THEY SHOULD BY THE US CONSTITUTION. We're not in the Bush administration anymore

Like you said, nice try, but no, we're not at war with them. ;D

North Korea has made threats to the US ever since it got its hands on nuclear weapons, before even Saddam threatened the US.

So why not NK then? What's so special about Iraq? Oh, because it was easier? Because it was closer to Israel? Because of their oil assets being on danger? I don't know, but NK seemed much more threatening than Iraq at the time. Even Iran, as there were intel of nuclear programs there, and we've still to find OBL despite cancelling the search for iraq

I don't think there is oil there, but there sure are a lot of poppy fields. They also want to build a natural gas pipeline through there. It's all about resources, oil isn't the only one.

        Right you are, Jim.

It is about the pipeline from the Caspian Sea basin to the factories of Pakistan and India. If we leave, who will guard it?

Yet think about it... these factories are putting millions of Americans out of work because we won't work for a dollar a day or less!

So who's interest is truly being served by us being in Afghanistan?

Also, Afghanistan is actually very rich in natural gas, second largest known reserves on the planet, though I doubt they are ready to expoit this for it would flood the market and drive natural gas prices way down.

It isn't about who guards it, it's about who owns it and reaps the profits. They don't care about anything else.

I disagree, they very much care about who guards it, or there will be no profits. The oil corporations do not want to pay the Afghani people sufficient royalties. This is why the Taliban suddenly became the enemy in 2000. They needed to be eliminated or neutralized... or paid off. Since American taxpayers are paying for American soldiers to guard the pipeline, any other option would be far more expense to the oil corporations, ergo, far less profitable.

Yeah, good point. They own it, so we get to foot the bill on protecting it, in money and lives.

Plus, those poppy fields are a nice little bonus as well. I wonder which would make the most money. The natural gas or the poppies.

For riflmn11 - you sir are a most complete idiot that I hope never serves in the armed forced to protect my country. you evidently know absolutely nothing about military tactics or abilities. I suggest you read "the art of warfare" before you compare world war two with Afghanistan. I completely agree with Mr Paul on this issue and it is the only intelligent way to look at this. Perhaps if it was your children over there your false bravado would be able to contain itself.

I dont need to read the art of warfare, I lived it. I served two tours in Fallujah while you sat here. Your have no idea what I experienced or what goes on past your t.v screen. Luckly there are better men then you holding the line in this nation. I served with them. But just keep hiding your head in the sand. If we do that the mean people will leave us alone right? Does no body here se a problem with the fact this guy sounds like a card carrying member of code pink?

What unit did you serve with and when?

        I detect a liar!

P.S.- I served 8 years in the U.S. Army myself, including six months in the region during Operation Dessert Shield and Operation Dessert Storm. I am a decorated combat veteran, and I say Dr. Paul is right on the issue. We are less safe for invading their land, establishing a fraudulent government there, and stealing their resources. Bring our soldiers home immediately.

A war with no fire fights?

            Are you on drugs?

We faced off against the Republican Guard, faced the real threat of chemical and biological weapons, while your war, the Iraqis all ran away, quit, didn't even raise a fight. What you suffered through was an occupation, not a war, puny little jar-head!

I was wounded in Iraq, west of Basra, not Saudi Arabia. We faced tanks, artillery, scud missile attacks... you are so clueless, you are a disgrace to the uniform for being so ignorant of this nation's recent wars.

Cowardice.......utter and complete cowardice. Was this man just born with no balls or did they fall off during puberty? Ron Paul like the majority of his fans are the type of men that would stand idly by as a woman is raped in front of his eyes and do nothing because its not his business. Cowardice will only keep you safe for so long.

And yet, that threat never reached the United States. The fact that our intel was wrong and was never EVEN investigated, despite what PENTAGON, what UNITED NATIONS, told us, we still went there without even weighting in the possibility that the intel is old as shit and there aren't WMDs, which is what happened. Even the CIA during the Bush Administration admitted the intel was wrong and they fucked up.

And yet, we're still in Iraq, joy.

Go be an misinformer elsewhere. :|

The United States dosen't invade countries without reason or without proof. The U.S. also invaded Iraq because Sadaam Hussein was killing people and aiding terrorist organizations.

You need to stop your hasty generalizations of people. It doesn't help your argument and makes you look like a jackass. I don't like the government, but I happen to side with them on this issue. The United States didn't invade Iraq for oil, and only a complete moron would suggest ohterwise. The U.S. invaded Iraq because we had information that there were WMD's in that country which posed a significant threat. cont.

    And now Libya.

What does Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya have in common? They all were supported by US and funded and armed by the US government. They all have oil. They also have a dissent towards US policies in the middle east.

And you all believe the government telling us that "It's WMDs, it's Osama Bin Laden, it's mad leaders' that we're there for? If we learned anything, at all, ever since the Gulf of Tonkin incident, and the 1967 USS Liberty attacks, is that they CAN LIE TO YOU.

Okay. So you believe everything the government tells you without a doubt. Giving your faith and trust to it entirely and without dissent.

Way to go. So I guess the war in Iraq was not about oil, but of what really? Not WMDs, since that's not longer the reason because there weren't any. What the Bush administration hasn't really shared was that the reason for the wars were to 'remove' Saddam, not go after saddam for WMDs. As for afghanistan? Bin Laden, already out... why fight there?

Show us proof that there were WMDs then, despite how the Pentagon, UN, and several other agencies provided PROOF that there were no WMDs, which is WHY we went to war in Iraq in the first place, and for Afghanistan, to search and sentence Osama Bin Laden, not fight the taliban.

I think your democrats and republicans are getting your shit mixed up here, and you'd expect us to believe it wasn't for oil? There's a trans-afghan oil pipeline on contract in Afghanistan this year.
