Headline inflation is 2.7%. Why can’t Ron Paul simply admit that he was wrong when he predicted a collapse of the dollar and hyperinflation? Why pretend that the US economy is experiencing inflation? Rising fuel prices and food prices are not “inflation.” Inflation is the overall decline in the purchasing power of the dollar. If wages do not rise, you will not have inflation. You will have a temporary price increase, lower demand, lower prices. Deflation is far more likely than “hyperinflation”

Benni-boy knows exactly what he is doing, the puppet for sure knows….

  • I care about the consequences as well, but not at the expense of misrepresenting economic thinkers or theories. Take an analogy: creationists often blame Darwin for Nazi Germany, but even if Hitler was the logical conclusion of Darwinism (he wasn’t), would that make Darwin a Nazi?

Similarly Keynes is often used as a pretense for any type of spending, but his theories (flawed though they may be) stand on their own merits, not the machinations of some bureaucrats.

  • The thing I find most destructive about Keynes’ work is the fact that it feeds an unruly monster – even if raising aggregate demand is the key to economic recovery, there’s no way the US government can do it properly and without cronyism. Nevertheless, Keynesianism =/ government spending/printing money. Bernanke is a statist but he hasn’t advocated fiscal stimuli, which are crucial to Keynesian economics, so there’s no way you can call him a Keynesian.

  • Keynes’ idea of government stimulus has lead to poor monetary policy, so I really don’t care about his intentions. I care about the consequences. It’s funny how Hayek even lamented that Keynes’ emotion interfered with his rationale in the construction of his pro-interventionist theories. Keynes is wrong about a lot of things, and seeing how I’ve read some of his work, I’ll bash it all I want.

  • Bernanke is a monetarist, not a Keynesian. Keynes argued that fiscal measures were more effective than monetary measures, and before his death he was worried about how his followers would bring about inflation with their excessive spending. Bernanke, on the other hand, seems to be engaged in a sunk costs fallacy and simply can’t stop printing.

But seriously – Keynes may have been wrong about a lot of things, but at least learn what Keynesianism is about before you bash it.

  • totally, and what is hilarious is that anyone who tries to bash Paul can only say something along the lines of “he’s crazy!” … because they can’t admit he knows his facts, history, and has stood by his guns vs two presidents of different parties.
