tj, many problems to solve and lots of observations to account for. Here I trow at you a few more.

I think the issue of immigration is more than the border problem and the freebies. Matter of fact, the ‘freebies’ are troubling, since few things are genuinely free.

It would be helpful to actually see numbers that would indicate benefits vs problems to actually convince people.

I realize that should be the job of those in charge of that and receiving salaries for it. And that goes for the other part of immigration that does not include the physical borders. That is, you have a nicely sealed border, but the rest of the process is far from good. It does not makes sense for a ‘first world’ situation in several ways.

Maybe is due to the same fantasy world of 1984.

    ok…addressing the previous 2 respondents….

First, libertarians believe in open borders, BUT libertarians are opposed to public housing, public eduction, public welfare, public food stamps, public health care…and all of the other freebies that entice MExican immigrants to come to usa…if they did not receive such benefits, the immigrant issue would go away….
as for securing our borders? libertarians would gradually bring home most if not all of our troops from the over 100 nations that we are currently occupying…now, of course tremendous fiscal savings could result from this….however, if even half of these troops remained active patrolling our borders, our national security would be greatly enhanced….

    secondly…

secondly, those concerned about social security, should read an article written by Dr. Ron Paul on http://www.ronpaul2012.com. It outlines how he would approach returning to a free society without harming those currently or about to receive benefits…

personally, I believe those currently receiving ss should continue to do so plus receive COLA…i then believe those within 5 years of retirement should get full benefits w/out COLA…then all subsequent years get a declining per centage…all ss taxes for employees should be stopped and ss taxes for employers ended in 30 years….then all unnecessary government assets…land, buildings, vehicles, furniture, paper clips…should be sold to pay for our obligations…if this is not enough, the government must monetize the remaining obligations…i.e. print money

lol, now for those of you who want to thumbs down me…I want to thumbs down myself….however, if there are no other solutions, then something like this has to be done…ss is finished, there simply is no more money…sorry

i have always been a vociferous ron paul supporter, and i cannot believe the reports today that mr. paul is soft on illegal immigration. the reports are based on his new book from what i read.

i hope he addresses that issue soon, as i always thought that he was for secure borders.

I plan on voting for you if you run 2012, however, I am 56. I worked all of my life and I want my Social Security and Medicare. Especially Social Security. I am for repealing Obama’s health care plan. My sister likes you, she is a Democrat but she doesn’t want to lose any benefits.

Please tell me you are not going to cut my benefits after I paid into them.

I agree on cutting foreign aid.

Let me answer for him. His plan is to respect the current beneficiaries and suggest young people to opt-out to social security, paying less taxes but saving them self.

To be clear about gay marriage in the libertarian point of view, we are AGAINST gay marriage, but we are also against STRAIGHT marriage also, because we think that the government should be out of this.
If you think about it, marriage consist in two parts, one is the legal part, it is a contract and we think that anyone should be allowed to make contracts.
The other part is the faith, your own faith, that does have nothing to do with the contract, if two men living together is a marriage or not, it’s in the eye of the beholder.
