Ron Paul is so modest, I believe the numbers show much more. Example, a candidate that gets 10,000 contributions of $100 a pop has raised one million dollars. A second candidate gets 100 contributions of $10,000 a pop has raised one million dollars as well. But the first candidate shows far more public support than the second candidate, even though they raised the identical total amount.
Compare the average contribution of Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul.
(Note – not picking on Bachmann, just chose her because her total funds are close to Paul’s)
I believe this is a far better indicator of early support, for all those donors are most likely voters too! Doesn’t matter how rich you are and how big a contribution you can afford, you only VOTE ONCE in an election.

A very frugal man, indeed.
