Lou Dobbs: Joining us now for more on job creation and the debt ceiling agreement, Congressman Ron Paul, who voted against raising the debt ceiling. He says the new special committee created by Congress is “disturbing and will be used instead to raise taxes”. Congressman Ron Paul, seeking the Republican Presidential nomination, joins us tonight from Clute, Texas. Good to have you with us, Congressman.
Ron Paul: Thank you, Lou, good to be with you.
Lou Dobbs: You voted again against the debt ceiling. Tell us why.
Ron Paul: Maybe because I’ve never voted for any of the spending essentially over the many years I’ve been in Congress. And I believed that debt was going to be a problem many years ago, and debt is a problem. So you don’t get out of the problem of having too much debt by allowing the Congress to spend a lot more and granting them another 2.4 trillion dollars worth of debt. So it never made any sense to me to do it that way. It just digs the hole much deeper, and then it gets harder for us to get out. So it was a very easy vote for me, but it became much easier when I saw the vehicle they were using to create this “Super Congress.” I mean, where in the world did that come from and what is that going to lead to. That is monstrous. I kept looking and looking, and I can’t find any place in the Constitution where we have the authority to create such a creature as the Super Congress.
Lou Dobbs: Let’s return to you, Congressman Paul. You told me about this super committee. You know, I could never find anything in the Constitution that would satisfy, it seems to me, a reasonable man, namely myself, that there is any constitutional authority for fast track authority for trade agreements. This super committee seems that be in that vein; how will you perceive it?
Ron Paul: That is exactly right. It’s creating committees to do the job and assume the responsibility that Congress should do it. And you’re absolutely right on the trade agreements. I happen to think that these trade agreements and giving this responsibility to the executive branch is absolutely wrong. But it’s not the only area, I think writing regulations is actually writing laws, so I’m way back on what the executive branch should do. But now for the OMB [Office of Management and Budget], it looks to me like with this Super Congress and committee, that if we don’t vote for what they recommend, OMB gets a lot of power, and that’s part of the executive branch and who knows, that’s the area that I think where they may be raising revenues, closing loopholes. Who knows what they might be doing? But it is not a good sign for a constitutional government.
Lou Dobbs: And the Supreme Court has slapped down a lawsuit brought by states and environmental groups that sought to push powers over greenhouse emissions. And the opinion written by Justice Ginsburg made it very clear that the EPA is the source and force in establishing those regulations and enforcing them; a remarkable decision by the Supreme Court. What is your reaction?
Ron Paul: Well, I think it’s rather clear in Article 1 that the Congress is supposed to write the law. This whole idea that any bureaucracy, any agency of government can write all these regulations and they’re the law of the land. One of the most annoying statements I ever heard said was not only do they write the regulations, but what about the statement that Paul Begala said once, “Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Kind of cool.” You know, that tells you what the attitude is about what they think about the Congress and what they think about the American people and what they think about the Constitution.
Lou Dobbs: I think we should point out that was a very young and ebullient Paul Begala at that time.
Ron Paul: He’s settled down now.
Lou Dobbs: And you still recognize him as a fellow Texan, do you?
Ron Paul: Yeah, but I don’t know if he would recognize me, that’s the only thing.
Lou Dobbs: Well, even reluctantly, I’m sure there’s a reciprocity among Texans. Congressman, it’s great to have you with us, always good to talk with you, I appreciate it.
Ron Paul: Thank you, Lou.
Lou Dobbs: Congressman Ron Paul.

So, I take it Mr. Paul has NEVER voted to raise the debt ceiling? Even during the Bush admin, or even the Clinton admin? From what he stats, he doesn’t vote for for a debt increase unless he voted for the debt to begin with? This seem to be a political ploy.

US drones and bombs Libyan people out of their land in order to provide a beachhead to Al Qaida to facilitate their terrorist attacks and eventual invasion of Europe.
Maybe the US is too ignorant to understand this but they are doing so anyway !
Vote the warlord and lousy bookkeeper out of office ! Ron Paul 2012 !!!!

Last night on Yahoo News there was at least 6 differant articals on the US credit rating dropping from AAA to AA+ and I was Bloging away about voting for Ron Paul as usual and then all 6 where pulled and thismorning there is nothing about the credit being changed. I noticed there was a lot of blogers talking about a revolt against the Government right in DC. I think the Government had somthing to do with pulling it and we should do a Blog bomb for ROn PAul on August 12th starting at 4pm till 12am Estern on Yahoo news. Just hit every political artical and write a fact about Ron Paul and add at the end VOTE RON PAUL 2012 !!! and we will know its us.

He has. He continually walks about the abuse of that clause. When everything is ‘necessary and proper’ and everything is for ‘general welfare’ then there is no restriction on the power of the government. How is a board of 12 congressmen ‘necessary’? Merely because the 435 cannot come to an agreement? How is it proper? What law makes it proper? What constitutional power makes it ‘proper’? How is granting legislative authority to 12 people, who are no longer representative of the nation, ‘proper’? How are any of the social programs ‘general welfare’. ‘general welfare’ doesn’t mean 10% benefit or 20% or even 50% benefit. It means EVERYONE benefits. Next you’ll be saying the USA is a democracy. Here’s a newsflash, it’s a constitutional republic. Democracies mean that 51% of the population can vote away the rights of 49% of the population. That’s why the senate exists, equal representation amongst the states irrespective of size to prevent the minority from being destroyed.
The constitution was set up to allow for representative government. How do 12 congressman represent 330 million people? Why don’t we just give Obama unlimited powers then we can have just 1 person, the president, representing the 330 million people of the USA.
Oh wait that would be a dictatorship.
You know like how a dictator can unilaterally declare war (eg Libya), unilaterally order the assassination of US citizens (in Yemen), unilaterally detain and search people with no trial or evidence (gitmo), search people without reasonable cause (TSA), the list goes on forever. And no it’s not only Obama’s fault, Bush set the stage, Obama’s just maintaining the status quo
Get educated. If you think the government will protect you from extremist and economic terrorists by giving them all the power, who’s going to protect you when the government themselves are the terrorists?

If I can borrow from that arch-supporter of central gov’t and central banks himself, Alexander Hamilton in Federalist #33:
http://www.constitution.org/fed/federa33.htm
“But it will not follow from this doctrine that acts of the large society which are not pursuant to its constitutional powers . . . These will be merely acts of usurpation, and will deserve to be treated as such.”
Everything since 9/11 is usurpation of individual and states rights. Like the TSA and the Super Congress which slipped through in the budget deal.

More Bullshit. Conservatives are trying to make the economy worse to make Obama look bad. If the economy does pick up they will take credit for it for forcing Obama to tackle the debt. If the economy gets worse, Obama’s fault, Its all a political game and fraud and Obama doesnt have the balls to call them out. Conservatives have been raising the debt for 30 years, never been a concern for them even when times were good.

Why does everyone keep on saying “Ron Paul 2012?” He’s still a politician and I bet he’s going to change is act up when he gets into power. I don’t care if “Ron” says things that sound good because in the end he’s still a politician. At this point it’s not about no “Ron Paul 2012″ I don’t trust any politician anymore. Not one.

So Natural baby, what do we do? Should we just round up all the politicians before they can round us up? (I’m kidding)
You can’t have a vacuum. Ron Paul has been out there for years and he’s always been regarded as a kook until recently because the stuff he was trying to prevent has come on with fast, hard and scary. I’ve never thought much about him until recently and now I know it’s him or the decline of society as we know it.

This super committee is one of the most corrupt things we’ve seen. And that’s saying something. They take members from the most unassailable districts, w/ the most secure funding, & they put them in this unaccountable position of unconstitutional power. That way the rest of the pukestains just get to hide in the weeds for the ruin they wreak upon us. It’s filthy, dirty, corrupt, and unconstitutional.

Does Ron have health problems? Just wondering, because he seems a lot more tired than he used to be. He seemed to have a lot more energy back than. Even so he still has the same great ideas. Why wasn’t he elected in 1988 when he first ran? We probably wouldn’t have these problems now if he was elected back then.

I would liked to have been a fly on the wall to have heard how so many so-called representatives were swayed to shoot themselves in the foot by voting for this Trojan Horse “Debt Deal” that additionally included the creation of “The Dirty Baker’s Dozen!”
Perhaps many were told that they would be selected as “Super Congress” committee members. As I have said before, “The Devil is in the details.” Seems Wall Street got real scared about this like those who voted for it should have!
