Ten years ago shocking and horrific acts of terrorism were carried out on US soil, taking over 3,000 innocent American lives. Without a doubt, this action demanded retaliation and retribution. However, much has been done in the name of protecting the American people from terrorism that has reduced our prosperity and liberty and even made us less safe. This is ironic and sad, considering that the oft-repeated line concerning the reasoning behind the attacks is that they hate us for who we are – a free, prosperous people – and that we must not under any circumstances allow the terrorists to win.
Though it is hard for many to believe, honest studies show that the real motivation behind the September 11 attacks and the vast majority of other instances of suicide terrorism is not that our enemies are bothered by our way of life. Neither is it our religion, or our wealth. Rather, it is primarily occupation. If you were to imagine for a moment how you would feel if another country forcibly occupied the United States, had military bases and armed soldiers present in our hometowns, you might begin to understand why foreign occupation upsets people so much. Robert Pape has extensively researched this issue and goes in depth in his book “Cutting the Fuse: The Explosion of Global Suicide Terrorism and How to Stop It”. In fact, of 2,200 incidents of suicide attacks he has studied worldwide since 1980, 95% were in response to foreign occupation.
Pape notes that before our invasion of Iraq, only about 10% of suicide terrorism was aimed at Americans or American interests. Since, then however, not only is suicide terrorism greatly on the rise, but 91% of it is now directed at us.
Yes, the attacks of 9/11 deserved a response. But the manner in which we responded has allowed radicals in the Muslim world to advance a very threatening narrative about us and our motivation in occupying their lands. Osama bin Laden referred to us as “crusaders” with a religious agenda to convert Muslims, westernize their culture and take control of their resources. If we had targeted our response to only the thugs and criminals who attacked us, and refrained from invading countries that had nothing to do with it, this characterization would seem less plausible to the desperate and displaced. Blaming Islam alone is grossly misleading.
Instead, we chose a course of action that led to the further loss of 8,000 American lives, left 40,000 wounded and has hundreds of thousands seeking help at the Veterans Administration. We are three to four trillion dollars poorer. Our military is spread dangerously thin around the globe, at the expense of protection here at home. Not only that, but we have allowed our freedoms to be greatly threatened and undermined from within. The Patriot Act, warrantless searches and wiretapping, abuse of habeus corpus, useless and humiliating searches at airports are just a few examples of how we’ve allowed the terrorists to “win” by making our country less free.
Suicide terrorism did not exist in Iraq before we got there. Now it does. There are no known instances of Iranians committing suicide terrorism. If we invade and occupy Iran, expect that to change, too.
Sometimes it can be very uncomfortable to ask the right questions and face the truth. When a slick politician comes along and gives a much more soothing, self-congratulating version of events, it is very tempting to simply believe what we would like to hear. But listening to lies does not make us safer, even though it might make us feel better about ourselves.
The truth is that ending these misguided wars and occupations will make us safer, more prosperous and more free.

if it wasnt perfect, how did its word spread all across the world at that time? it reached china, all the way from Mecca, when all they had was horses…read the story of Islam and you’ll find out. “People shape and twist things naturally towards their own liking and benefit” ? The Quran remain pure and true, never been altered. Anyways, the media is highly biased…Dont think of Islam and judge it by what you “hear”, you need to read about Islam before you can make any claims against it

God has blessed Ron Paul with his message. His assessment of U.S. Foreign Policy is accurate and consequently unpopular.
In other venues Dr. Paul has shown that the Federal Reserve with other Central Bank fiat currency policy dooms fiscal third world nations to remain third world nations. Those nations cannot ever emerge from debt servitude – no matter how productive and compliant they may become. Their respective peoples have no hope for future prosperity. Such frustration breeds a deep seated resentment and hatred. That hatred is not likely understood by those who have it any more than those who cause it to fester.
Dr. Paul knows and warns that if the United States fails to avoid the debt service of fiat currency, our people too will face a despair they can neither understand nor combat. U.S. generation Y/Millennials will have no prosperity, no middle class, and will lose most of their real property due to fiat currency’s imposed debt servitude (and exacerbated by previous generations’ entitlements). The U.S. economy will become indistinguishable from such nations as Uruguay, Greece, Cambodia, Estonia and Nigeria.
But Representative Paul offers a free market alternative to despair and servitude.
That is why he has introduced HR1098: Free Competition in Currency Act

I am satisfied with Ron Paul’s position on 9/11. I am glad that he wants to restore the liberties that we have given up with the so-called Patriot Act, eliminate the monstrous Homeland Security budget and bring our soldiers home. I am also glad that he does not publicly support the 9/11 truth movement, because to do so would be political suicide. I do not care so much about achieving “justice” by punishing those responsible. I would be content if we could just prevent such things from happening again. But I am with the truth movement, and because I think Ron Paul supporters are intelligent open-minded people generally, I want to ask everyone to take a quick look at this 15 min documentary produced by Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth. WTC 7, which was not hit by a plane that day, collapsed into its footprint as in a controlled demolition. This has been kept out of the news and the government agencies investigating it destroyed evidence. Almost 1600 scientists and building professionals have disputed the gov’t claims. In a democracy, one would think that the determinations of so many experts might matter. Instead they are labeled “kooky conspiracy nutjobs” and silenced. No matter what you’ve heard about crazy “troofers” take 15 mins to consider their side of the story before you dismiss them. I hate when i see Ron talk about 9/11 and don’t call it what it is ” inside job” but again he at least try to use it in best interest of America and world, and i get it, if he say it that would kill his political career and it will put his life in real danger, he is risking much already by going against NWO. What is your point here? You are taking these verses way out of context. Muslims consider it a damning act to kill innocent people and Jews and Christians are considered “People of the Book”. Also, if Muslims were so intolerant then why are there still millions of Christians in Egypt and the rest of the Arab world and why are there still Hindus in India? It seems your only aim is to slander and to serve the political whims of a hateful, warmongering few. Read these Qur’anic verses for further proof that Islam does not oppose peoples’ different beliefs:

exactly! Invading people’s lands, killing civilians, and supporting Israel’s genocide and occupation of Palestine is making us less safe. Since our occupation of Iraq there are now 1 million orphaned children. Pray tell, when these children grow up, who will they blame? We give 1.3 million dollars to Israel every day in Military assistance, who then uses the money to commit crimes against humanity and international law, (1,300 Palestinian children were murdered since 2001).
