Ron Paul: End the TSA Now!

Early this morning Ron Paul’s presidential campaign launched an anti-TSA moneybomb. So far more than $114,000 have been raised. Click here to participate.

Back in 2010, Ron Paul gave a rousing speech against the TSA and introduced legislation (the American Traveler Dignity Act) to protect Americans from physical and emotional abuse by federal employees conducting screenings at the nation’s airports:

Ron Paul reintroduced the “American Traveler Dignity Act” in the current session of Congress as HR 2438.

A BILL – HR 2438

To ensure that certain Federal employees cannot hide behind immunity.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. NO IMMUNITY FOR CERTAIN AIRPORT SCREENING METHODS.

No law of the United States shall be construed to confer any immunity for a Federal employee or agency or any individual or entity that receives Federal funds, who subjects an individual to any physical contact (including contact with any clothing the individual is wearing), x-rays, or millimeter waves, or aids in the creation of or views a representation of any part of an individual’s body covered by clothing as a condition for such individual to be in an airport or to fly in an aircraft. The preceding sentence shall apply even if the individual or the individual’s parent, guardian, or any other individual gives consent.

Ron Paul introduced the “American Traveler Dignity Act” with the following words. (This is a transcript of his actual speech.)

Ron Paul: Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I rise this evening to announce that I introduced some legislation today dealing with the calamity that we have found at our airports with TSA. Something has to be done. Everybody is fed up. The people are fed up, the pilots are fed up, I’m fed up.

You know, I’ve come to this floor many times over the past many years and complained about the terrible foreign policy we’ve had, the terrible monetary policy we’ve had, the excessive spending and the debt and also the tax policy. But what we’re doing and what we’re accepting in putting up with at this airport is so symbolic of us just not standing up and saying, “Enough is enough”.

I know the American people are starting to wake up, but our government, those in charge – Congress as well as the executive branch – are doing nothing. Yes, they’re talking about maybe backing off and allowing the pilots to go through. But can you think how silly the whole thing is? The pilot has a gun in the cockpit, and he’s managing this aircraft, which is a missile, and we make him go through this groping x-ray exercise, having people feeling their underwear. It’s absurd, and it’s time we wake up.

The bill I’ve introduced will take care of this. But we have to realize that the real problem is that the American people have been too submissive, we have been too submissive. It’s been going on for a long time, and this was to be expected even from the beginning of the TSA and it’s deeply flawed. Private property should be protected by private individuals, not bureaucrats.

But the bill that I’ve introduced will take care of it. It’s very simple, it’s one paragraph long. It removes the immunity from anybody in the federal government that does anything that you or I can’t do. If you can’t grope another person and if you can’t x-ray people and endanger them with possible x-rays, you can’t take nude photographs of individuals, why do we allow the government to do it? We would go to jail. He’d be immediately arrested if an individual citizen went out and did these things, and yet we just sit there calmly and say, “Oh, they’re making us safe”.

And, besides, the argument from the executive branch is that when you buy a ticket, you have sacrificed your rights, and it is the duty of the government to make us safe. That isn’t the case. You never have to sacrifice your rights. The duty of the government is to protect our rights, not to abuse them and do what they have been doing to us. The pilots hopefully will be exempted from this.

But another suggestion I have that might help us: let’s make sure that every member of Congress goes through this. Get the x-ray and make them look at the pictures, and then go through one of those groping pat downs. And then I think there will be a difference. Have everybody in the executive branch, anybody who is a cabinet member, make them go through it and look at it. Maybe they would pay more attention.

But this doesn’t work, this is not what makes us safer, this is preposterous to think that the TSA has made us safer.

You know, when you think about it, if you look at what’s happened over the past 10 years, during this last decade, we lost 3000 on a terrible, terrible day for America. But since that time in this last decade, we have also lost 6,000 of our military personnel going over there and trying to rectify this problem. We have lost 400,000 people on our government-run highways. We have lost 150,000 individuals from homicides. So I think there’s reason to be concerned, reason to deal with this problem. We’re not dealing with it the right way, we’re doing the wrong thing, and groping people at the airport doesn’t solve our problems.

What has solved our problems, basically, has been that they put a good lock on the door and they put a gun inside the cockpit. That’s been the greatest boon to our safety. Safety should be the responsibility of the individual and the private property owner. But right now, we assume the government’s always going to take care of us and we’re supposed to sacrifice our liberties. I say that is wrong, we are not safer and we also know there are individuals who are making money of this. Michael Chertoff; I mean, here’s a guy who was the head of the TSA – selling the equipment. And the equipment is questionable; we don’t even know if it works, and it may well be dangerous to our health.

You know, the way I see this; if this doesn’t change, I see what has happened to the American people is we have accepted the notion that we should be treated like cattle. “Make us safe, make us secure, put us into barbed wire, feed us, fatten us up”, and then they’ll eat us. And we’re a bunch of cattle if we have to wait and say, “We’ve had it”. I think this whole idea of an opt-out day is just great. We ought to opt-out and make the point, get somebody to watch it and take a camera, it’s time for the American people to stand up, shrug off the shackles of our government and TSA at the airport.

These are Ron Paul’s prepared remarks:

Ron Paul: Mr. Speaker, today I introduce legislation to protect Americans from physical and emotional abuse by federal Transportation Security Administration employees conducting screenings at the nation’s airports. We have seen the videos of terrified children being grabbed and probed by airport screeners. We have read the stories of Americans being subjected to humiliating body imaging machines and/or forced to have the most intimate parts of their bodies poked and fondled. We do not know the potentially harmful effects of the radiation emitted by the new millimeter wave machines.

In one recent well-publicized case, a TSA official is recorded during an attempted body search saying, “By buying your ticket you gave up a lot of rights.” I strongly disagree and am sure I am not alone in believing that we Americans should never give up our rights in order to travel. As our Declaration of Independence states, our rights are inalienable. This TSA version of our rights looks more like the “rights” granted in the old Soviet Constitutions, where freedoms were granted to Soviet citizens — right up to the moment the state decided to remove those freedoms.

The incident of the so-called “underwear bomber” last Christmas is given as justification for the billions of dollars the federal government is spending on the new full-body imaging machines, but a Government Accountability Office study earlier this year concluded that had these scanners been in use they may not have detected the explosive material that was allegedly brought onto the airplane. Additionally, there have been recent press reports calling into question the accuracy and adequacy of these potentially dangerous machines.

My legislation is simple. It establishes that airport security screeners are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person, making images of another person, or causing physical harm through the use of radiation-emitting machinery on another person. It means they are subject to the same laws as the rest of us.

Imagine if the political elites in our country were forced to endure the same conditions at the airport as business travelers, families, senior citizens, and the rest of us. Perhaps this problem could be quickly resolved if every cabinet secretary, every member of Congress, and every department head in the Obama administration were forced to submit to the same degrading screening process as the people who pay their salaries.

I warned at the time of the creation of the TSA that an unaccountable government entity in control of airport security would provide neither security nor defend our basic freedom to travel. Yet the vast majority of both Republicans and Democrats then in Congress willingly voted to create another unaccountable, bullying agency– in a simple-minded and unprincipled attempt to appease public passion in the wake of 9-11. Sadly, as we see with the steady TSA encroachment on our freedom and dignity, my fears in 2001 were justified.

The solution to the need for security at US airports is not a government bureaucracy. The solution is to allow the private sector, preferably the airlines themselves, to provide for the security of their property. As a recent article in Forbes magazine eloquently stated, “The airlines have enormous sums of money riding on passenger safety, and the notion that a government bureaucracy has better incentives to provide safe travels than airlines with billions of dollars worth of capital and goodwill on the line strains credibility.” In the meantime, I hope we can pass this legislation and protect Americans from harm and humiliation when they choose to travel.

although the airport screening is a worthy debate ,that i personally find that the fed. gov. has brain washed all citizens to make us believe we’re safer,we all must remember the majority of our citizens cant even afford to fly and have never been on a plane in their lives ! So all money spent on the tsa the taxpayers subsidize is for the entitled few {many people} that can afford to fly!!!What percentage of our fed taxes go to paying the gropers and why cant we get a tax rebate if we havent flown that year!!!!

I see the Holocaust that the ‘High Places’ have prepared. Some have said it is a 50 year cycle. I say it is Monetary cycle that has no plan other than to make a very few International Families very wealthy and powerful far beyond your comprehension. This problem they call overpopulation, over production, over consumption and as such are the problems that result from ‘Their’ ludicrous ‘Unconstitutional Monetary Policy‘. Thus they seek a Holocaust to balance Their Global System or else their system would self- destruct and they would loose power to the Remnant.

What happened before Mao executed 10 million, what happened right before Stalin executed 20 million. What happened right before Hitler exterminated 6 million? This is the questions US need to ask now.

Oh Yea, know matter what happens the Remnant will remain and provide the new born for the saved through Christ. With population seemingly uneducated about the Virtues Christ taught one might logically wonder if one could stop the plan of powers in ‘High Places’.

The answer to the question about what happened right before innocent peoples where exterminated is quite clear. They took their Guns away! NRA you are US last hope. Ron Paul represents a way should avoid such down trodden.

I am strong Ron Paul supporter, but I think the Rand Paul/TSA run-in has gotten him so mad he is speaking from the heart. “Ron Paul: End the TSA Now” headlines will be used by the mainsteam media to label him a kook right or wrong. It would be prudent to see Ron Paul call to limit the TSA powers to monitoring airports. I am all for ending the TSA but most of the uneducated crowd, which unfortunately is most of the US, don’t understand that so much of the terrorist threat is largely fear-mongering, put on us by the government Sadly the mainstream media is more than happy to play along with the war-mongering governments agenda to continue spending more on these war, bailouts, terrorist threats, etc….

I think would be of great benefit if Ron Paul, got up in front of the American people, whenever possible and take every opportunity to educate the American people on our debt (show how most of it is made of bad banking bets) and government war machine spending. He would also benefit by showing how the income tax rate has changed over the years, and how it did not even exist until 1913. I know he will get a hard time from the media, and the comparisons to Ross Perot will about, but I think the boost in the number of educated Americans will more the make up for that backlash.

Ron Paul’s biggest enemy is the average American citizens knowledge on the Constitution, and all of the other matters that we hold so dear.

    Ron Paul 2112!!

Same thing is happening to the Caucasian peoples of the Middle East that has been done to the Caucasians of the West ! All perpetuated by the Joo…

    Some things to look up,

Bloody Sunday of Bromberg – Genocide of Germans under Jews of Poland that started WW2

Lavon Affair – Failed Israeli Mossad bombings of U.S. Embassy’s to be blamed on the Arabs to bring USA into war against the Middle East.

Bombing of Beirut – Israel knew this was coming but failed to tell American Intelligence hoping it would spark conflict between USA and Middle East

USS Liberty – Failed False Flag op, US sacrificed the crew of the USS Liberty to Israel hoping that the conflict would be blamed on Egypt and the US would enter the war.

Israel has formed a Superpac against Ron Paul, none of this is “Anti-Semitic” it’s all true, so how can it be? Israel is dangerous and it’s zionist Joose are the most racist and radical people in the world.

My biggest question that nobody answers is: How did European Jews organize in 3 years, weapons, vehicles, a strategy to take over a country, and their own people after the Holocaust and second World War? The holocaust finished in 1945 after Germany lost, how did they get all their ill starving displaced people together so quickly? How did they get Tanks, Arms and men down to Israel so soon and how did they get a strategy planned out for this so quickly?

Doesn’t this all seem a bit fishy to you? Didn’t a Holocaust just happen and a devastating World War just end? How many Jews where there before the Holocaust and how many where supposedly left?

It’s kind of like 911, you ask well how did that happen or how did this happen and your attacked: DON’T QUESTION 911 CRAZY or TERRORIST !

Like when you question events in the Holocaust or Israel’s creation it’s : ANTI SEMITIC ! NAZI ! HOLOCAUST DENIER!

Seems that before people started ever blaming Jews for 911 that the Jews where dominant in attacking people for questioning the facts… It’s like if they can shut you up and humiliate you or degrade you they can stop your brain from picking through the rubble… Same with the Holocaust or anything Israel has done, same with anything that happens to do with Jews or Israel… No wonder people begin to become suspicious with them… they constantly bash us and tell us they’re the victims and the good guys yet the documented facts prove otherwise… sigh…

      People best wake up quick.

I’ve been called Antisemitic online before, I’m like how am I antisemitic? Because I’m afraid? Because I don’t like to be manipulated and lied too? Because I don’t like covert racism to be directed at anyone including myself? Because I respect human life and individualism? Because I ask for the truth? Because I like people to be fair to one another? Because I’ve seen Israel and Jews do everything they constantly bash the rest of the world for? Because I know from investigation their religion is hateful and abusive to others? Because I see Israel as a terrorist state and religious extremists who use the US and Europe as puppets so they can get away with anything that nobody else would get away with? Because they have 300 Nukes and the world is afraid of Iran who has none and a 3rd world army? Wtf?

Uhm, anyone ever notice how many Ron Paul haters are like “Israel First” and all that ?

I’ve seen plenty of comments on FB and a number of Israeli Forums and Youtube videos where these supposed “Americans” are saying they support Israel before America in the election… That sounds like treason to me… It’s like if someone from China had dual citizenship and voted for the prez with China’s best interest in mind.

These treasonous scum should be stripped of citizenship, this dual citizenship thing is really screwed up and idiotic, of course America is a puppet… We’ve basically offered ourselves up to Israel as one.

People who say these things obviously don’t care about your life or your well being, they’d gladly sacrifice you and yours for their precious Israel. You are an expendable asset to them, better get your heads out of your behinds and do some investigating. I’d google some quotes from the torah and some of Israels religious and political leaders regarding other races and their own agenda’s and ethic.

They expose themselves constantly if you actually DO the research…

To ElHombre: It is precisely on account of these opinions that Ron Paul is getting bad press. for your information, the jews started comming to Israel from the end of the 19th century, and since the 1930s with bigger numbers. The country was not built in 4 years, and they had not weapons superiority like today. You are misinformed badly, and speaking of such topics without knowing the history is what labels you as antisemitic.

This is just one fact I decided to answer, the rest are as easilly answered but I would consider it a waste of time, just as Ron Paul does in the debates, deciding not to counter every bit of nonsense the others utter. The fact is, if you express anti-israeli opinions, and that without knowing the history of the matter, you are anti-semitic. Moreover, if you express anti-jewish notions, as in all jews in the world and not just israel, it brings you closer to hitler than you think. And the same goes regarding any group of people in the world, like the “yellow peril” at the beginning of the 20th century, much prior to japan attacking perl harbor. You would be one of them aswell had you lived in that time, I bet.

The truth is, Ron Paul is for cutting the spending to ALL, but maintaining trade relations and diplomatic relations. If his opponents choose to isolate Israel, he simply needs to just state the fact that foreign aid to Israel’s neighbours is 4 times as much! If you antisemites get out of your dark holes and start babbling nonsense, you are playing right into their hands, and a candidate can easilly be discredited on account of his supporters. Infact Ron Paul is constantly under attack for some stupid thing one of the supporters, I am guessing the vast minority, did.

What is more mind boggling is that in the debate Dr. Paul was asked that he presented 600+ bills and only two was passed and now you wonder why?

I wonder how we can get access to the rest of those bills that Dr. Paul wrote and didn’t pass throughout his years in congress.

It saddens me a big deal that only Ron Paul by himself stands against these monstrosities not just for his family or for his district in Texas but for everyone.

If this was another new war, I bet every one of these congressman would be out having an interview with CNN FOX and SEE BS and praise the war and how great of nation we are because we are killing for the sake of humanity.

    God Bless Dr. Paul

I know that I’ve had to have items checked such as baggage and so on for many years. I do not like the screening process and I do not like hand pat downs, I’ve had the metal detector wands. However, what if someone has something that is not metal that is explosive or they can cause harm on the plane? Someone could use their briefcase or laptop to hit someone with… they might even hit them with a fist while in the air. What if everyone that got onto that one place decided to all protest and rush the pilot or they decided to just pull the emergency door? What if they thought anything that is not approved by the thought police, are they terrorist and how would you screen for that?

How many have been caught and how regularly for all this mess? It is obvious it is not for catching enemies. The whole process is wrong morally, economically and any practical sense. All airlines would not want to have problems in flight and let them assure safety.

TSA is UNDER the German’s 40’s Motherland. Homeland security is evil and probably a globalist organization.

God says in his word his people will go into captivity because of not obeying him. Demons believe in him but tremble, … because they don’t obey. There is no way the morals of this land can change to where the people will not go into captivity again (and again) if they believe they do not have to obey God’s commandments. The Sabbath is not the Jewish people’s but it is the 4th of ten basic outline. People have multiple or mixed marriages and the professed “Christian” world has taken up on this. They eat pork and other things that are not defined as food, otherwise why do they not eat rats, mice, cats, or even their own children (bible prophesies people will do this)!

Oh but NO, we don’t have to do these things, we are saved anyway, they say. Where is intellectual honesty and integrity. The land here is comprised of mixed nations, cultures and radical beliefs. The enemy knew years ago they could take it without firing a shot (just one of the enemies) because they could ruin the minds of people with true decent beliefs and actions.

So I don’t see this all changing if people think they can vote in the anti Constitutionalism establishment, but there is still a problem because the wickedness will still reign as people reject the law of God.

I also worry about the military all being called back, though in theory it sounds good. I saw a video on one of Dr. Paul’s sites that discuss a guy in the military who described what these guys go through and how wretched their superiors are and so on. They learn how to kill and do war. What is to stop any or part of them if the leadership then tells them to attack and take over the homeland here with that security system to take over completely? It is a catch 22.

I have to tune into optimistic things rather than wicked. We do need to have people willing to study their bibles and obey all that God says and stop doing away with the law of God to justify sin and say it is not so.
