Breakthrough in Maine! 36% Ron Paul’s Strongest Results So Far

Ron Paul’s massive momentum continues! On the heels of a strong second-place finish in Minnesota earlier this week, Ron Paul just had another near-victory in Maine. The Congressman secured an amazing 36% of the vote, by far his highest percentage in the race up to now.

While Ron Paul had been a favorite to win the state, Mitt Romney’s money machine desperately scuffled for a last-minute win in an effort to paper over the Governor’s three disastrous losses in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado earlier this week. Unfortunately that strategy paid off and Mitt Romney just barely overtook Ron Paul for a 39% first place finish.

  1. Mitt Romney 39.2% (2,190 votes)
  2. Ron Paul 35.7% (1,996 votes)
  3. Rick Santorum 17.7% (989 votes)
  4. Newt Gingrich 6.2% (349 votes)

(Final results with 83.7% of precincts reporting — see explanation at bottom of post)

Why are only 83.7% of precincts reporting? Could the official results still change?

Washington County (pop. 32,856) postponed its caucuses due to the threat of 1-3″ of snow (which did not materialize). They will be voting next Saturday. However, Maine GOP Executive Director Michael Quatrano announced that the official results are permanent and will not be changed when the new votes come in.

Washington County GOP Chairman Chris Gardner objected, saying he had known his county’s tally wouldn’t be included in Saturday’s announcement but didn’t realize it wouldn’t be counted at all. He said he had called state party leaders and “expressed my complete and utter dismay.”

Some have called Washington County a “Ron Paul stronghold” that could have propelled Ron Paul to a Maine victory. Ron Paul campaign chairman Jesse Benton suggested that the Romney campaign was involved in the cancellation of the caucus as Paul’s campaign had expected to do well: “It’s not completely insidious, but they knew we were going to swamp it up there.”

In 2008 Ron Paul got 8 out of 113 votes (7%) while Mitt Romney received 40 out of 113 votes (35%) in the county. If Romney had remained stagnant at 40 votes and Ron Paul had received an additional 227 votes (+ 8 ) in Washington County, Paul would have won Maine.

  • Ron Paul is a breath of fresh air. He will clean Washington DC up and will help give the US Citizens their freedom back, that has been taking away with all these laws and executives orders that are on the books now.

This blatant fraud has to be exposed and stopped. Someone has started a online petition to Maines G.O.P. and the media regarding the G.O.P. deciding that no further vote counting in next weeks postponed Causus. Please sign it and send it out through out the media sites.

Well this time a dusting of snow, has caused the Maine State G.O.P. to cancel Saturday’s vote which would of represented 16% of votes yet to be cast. Washington one of of four counties which hasn’t voted yet, is a very strong
    Ron Paul leaning area.

These G.O.P. Chairpersons have sold their sole to the devil either for a job promotion or just being paid off. The path upon which this countries trainwreck to our economy and with our civil liberties disappearing will not change with Obama, Mittens, Gangrene, or Sanitary. Ron Paul is the only solution solver for the issues that face our nation.

  • Ron Paul is the only candate who makes any sense. He is the only one who would get American back. Get it back to what it was when I was growing up.

  • BaffledW/the…!

I attended my first Town caucus yesterday…completely rigged…after the ballots were collected it was time to make a list of delegates to send to Augusta…in order to” save time” they had a list of 17 names collected already… leaving 14 slots for those left in the room willing to sign up!! Who was at the top of the pre-made list? Good old Olympia Snowe and her husband John…there was enough of an uproar and they had to start over with a clean sheet of paper. As they worked through the center and left of the room they kept picking Romney people…eventually a few “non-Romney” people had to be picked…I am disgusted and the people running this show have NO SHAME

Are you for real? The caucus is supposed to have nominations and then a second. They keep doing this until no more nomination, then if there are more delegates than that caucus is allowed the caucus is suppose to vote on each delegate. This would be the same for alternates. I believe there has to be a way to contest the results.

So 16% still pending to count and we will just watch them get away with it??? PLEASE We also need to wake up. They are stealing the elections from us…

  • Jorge

Have we found out what the legislation says about postponed voting due to “bad weather”? It does not make sense they will not count the remaining towns… We always tell people to wake up, but they do it to us too….

  • Jorge

have you check what the rules are for postponed voting due to bad weather???? it does seem logic that the remaining towns will not count. We tell people to wake up but they do it to us too??????

  • I’m glad Ron is happy about how his campaign is going, but I’m sick and tired of all the voting fraud (dead people voting, votes tossed, people not being allowed to vote, etc). This is why so many people are disinterested in elections because they know how corrupt it is. I know people who would vote for Ron Paul but won’t get involved because they believe their vote won’t be counted or they may be turned away. It’s hard to convince them otherwise. Why we stand for this, is beyond me.

  • They Zionists responsible for not counting 17% of Maine’s vote.

    RON PAUL 2012

  • wwtect

I heard the media say that, Washington County isnt going to vote, they are going to keep the results the same in Maine without Washington County. Is that true?

  • The dishonest Republican party has postponed the voting in the one county in Maine where Ron Paul has the strongest support.

In reality, Ron Paul won Maine overall, but those assholes are too dishonest to allow that fact to be broadcast.

    RON PAUL 2012

  • How can anyone not support/love this man? There’s nothing to hate about him.

  • 2:15 “Mitt Romney What?” lol
