Being tricked is not the problem. The problem is staying tricked or being tricked when you have the facts against the claim in front of you. It is a little past tax time so this doesn’t work so well today: If you really seriously want to depress your self, when you are in a gathering of people who you know have done their taxes, take a survey on the question “Did Obama raise, lower or leave your taxes the same?” The majority will wrongly say “raise” even though they did their own taxes.

As far as I can see, the project is already at risk. Ron Paul started a thing called “The Tea Party”. Look at the “Tea Party” of today. It has been taken over by a bunch of yahoos. The Koch brothers financing and the republican operatives have turned it from a group outraged by the misdeeds on Wallstreet into a group defending that very set of crooks. Ask most of them what has happened to Tax rates since Obama took office and you get the wrong answer. It has become worthless in the effort.

We were tricked, cant blame us. its like finding out your parents have lied to you your whole life, devastating. But a person like Ron Paul can provide light in darkness, and he’s started an idea or movement if you will, and it wont be stopped.

So long as people devote themselves to the man and not to the ideas, the project will fail in the long run. What we need is for people to understand the facts and be able draw correct conclusions from them. The great masses of people following leaders is how we got into the mess we are in today. Those leaders said things like “deficits don’t matter” and people accepted it without questioning. Now those same people say “deficits are killing us” and people seem not to remember the past.

Te actual quote is “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” “They who can” vs “Those who would” makes the meaning a little different. Churchill’s comment about democracy is still true also. It is the worst except for all the others. We basically have the choice between democracy and a return to the native state.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. (Benjamin Franklin) How can you believe in “democracy” when most of the leaders are basically lying all the time! And doing the opposite of what they promised?

A big part of the problem is that people believe “the two Santa Claus” theory. They believe that if you cut taxes on the rich and increase spending, one Santa Claus will come along and add money to the treasury and the other make every one wealthy. It have never happened and can never happen.
The 8 years under Bush finally bankrupted the nation. He was the captain on the bridge when the iceberg was hit but others had set that path earlier. Now we need to fix it.

I am going to defend Jimmy Carter here:
Nixon took the US off the metal back money. He made things worse economically with wage and price controls. By time Carter took office, the US was heading for hyperinflation. Carter increased interest rates as would have happened if the US was still on a metal backed money. He reduced the money supply and basically forced people to save rather than borrow. This was basically the Ron Paul solution. It saved the dollar from becoming worthless.

Ron Paul is very much a libertarian. If “liberal” to “conservative” is the X axis, “libertarian” to “totalitarian” could be the Y axis. Liberals say that same sex marriage should be allowed. Ron Paul agrees. He happens to be heterosexual so he is not likely to marry a man but he doesn’t think that government has any business outlawing it. Ron Paul worked with Alan Grayson on the subject of the FED.
Ron Paul doesn’t believe that the boot of government on your neck is needed.

No, personal responsibility, Ron Paul’s montage, is a conservative view.
Santorum, Gingrich, and Romney aren’t TRUE conservatives.
Dems and Repubs are different parties but not different ideologies. They’re both statists. They want more gov’t either in your personal life (R) or in your finances (D).
Ron Paul truly represents the opposite end of the spectrum:
Less regulations, less meddling in the personal lives of others, and less wars.
In other words, less gov’t, which is very conservative.

You have the definitions wrong. Ron Paul is a libertarian. He is not a conservative. In most things, he is closer to the liberal view, than to the conservative. He doesn’t think that people need the boot of government on their neck to make them behave as conservatives do. He would legalize drugs like liberals have been suggesting.
