Our Voice Matters! Doug Wead Asks: What Should Ron Paul Do Now?

Ron Paul is a man of the people. He is glad to be part of the liberty movement and proud of what we all have achieved so far. But this is only the beginning. With Santorum out of the race, Ron Paul campaign advisor Doug Wead is now asking the liberty movement for its opinion on what Ron Paul should do now:

You can help us decide. Here are some options. And you don’t have to chose just one. […]

Without revealing too much, and keeping in mind that this changes weekly, you would be wise to calculate that Mitt Romney has about 106 delegates less than what the national media is now showing. Santorum, even before dropping out, had about 16 less. This includes adding delegates that the media incorrectly withheld from Santorum and then subtracting its false calculations. Now add 98 delegates to Ron Paul. And you have the real picture of where it stands today. […]

We are in the process of taking over the GOP at many precinct and country levels. And that is translating into power at the state conventions where the delegations are chosen. The GOP establishment is trying to block this by telling their people not to vote for anyone under thirty years of age or anyone who is Hispanic. But our people are filling those delegate slots. Even we can’t keep up with the numbers.

This means that the convention floor in Tampa will be loaded with Ron Paul supporters. And it means if Santorum releases his delegates many of them will vote for us because they were never Rick Santorum supporters in the first place.

Don’t underestimate the power of money to influence this process. And don’t underestimate the power of money to corrupt this process. […]

Texas is important. We will get no breaks from the mainstream media. So Texas will require television advertising of our own. And that will require money. Watch the next moneybomb closely.

  1. Wow! I see people on here suggesting to cut deals with one of the other GOP candidates. Absolutely not! I'm an older voter and if you understand the principals and integrity that Ron Paul stands for, you will never suggest cutting a deal. I will only vote for Ron Paul, or no one. We can write him in if we have to. Like Ron Paul has done for 30 years, I will be true to my principals and conscience. No compromises. We've done that for too many years. It makes me wonder whether these people are true Ron Paul supporters, or really understand what he stands for.

    • This is correct; try and win the GOP nomination with the advancement of delegates, but, if for some reason that strategy does not work in Tampa, then, all Ron Paul supporters should write his name in if he decides not to go third party as an independent! He deserves our votes. He deserves to be President because of his solid, rational, common sense ideas to restore prosperity by ending the "fed," stopping unnecessary empire building/foreign policy entangelemnents and pre-emptive wars. He will cut spending by $1 trillion in the first year and eliminate the deficit in 3-4 years with his specific plan of action. Peace and prosperity; go Ron Paul all the way to the White House.

  2. I appreciate his asking for feedback, I want him to be the president. If he's up to it, he should see this thing through, and we all have to do our part to get the Greatest Living American the job.

He's the boss. His decision will be the right decision.

  3. Running as a third party candidate seems to be a waste now when we have gained so many places in state and local party-districts.
There is a run for the congress this year too right? Having an establishment in the party would sure make it easier for those in the party who tries for the senate or the house of rep.

Cutting a deal with Romney seems to be the wisest move - if we have anything to come with. Maybe we can stop colossal spending on foreign wars and budget deficits.
Pherhaps a celing on military spending abroad, and a ceiling on the amount of money the fed can print will make Romney and his gang "stay within the limits" so to say?

    • Deal with Romney would be disaster. Dr Ron Paul is older Mr and he shouldn't have a stress with this scum as Romney. No deals, Romney would cheat him after deafeting Obama and he would take government of pro-war mongers and global speculators and what would Ron Paul do? To fight against all scumbags if he would be in this government. No, it is really the worst idea.
This his guy from campaign of Ron Paul should make till now a thorough study of Romney's campaign, why is he popular? Well educated people know that W.M.R. is liar, pro-war monger and globalistic pig backed by all speculators, who will ruin his country and beginnobody knows how much wars. But simple people ( mainstream )vote for him, because he makes promises: he will make jobs ( it is not true, he has liquidated jobs in California about 1000 and he has made 1000 more jobs in Thailand for sack of rice a month), because it is profitable for globalists and he isoneof them. And he has made promises about health care. He has promised that he will make jobs ( lie )and he will make health care ( he will not do it too). People need social care and Ron Paul and his workers from campaign must pay attention on this issue. More business, more milions new jobs, honest social care and honest health care, more financial support for retired, aid for victims of natural disasters, low taxes for middle class and poor people. And thanks to these proposals mainstream can be gained. Naturally these other big issues which are main program of Ron Paul must be continued too. Simple peoplefrommainstream don't understand it. They don't want wars too. They want to have money , honest social and health care and they accept Ron Paul, if he makes proper promises about the most important issues for mainstream.
But deals with old Willard is bad idea. Ron Paul must ask what then, if Willard thank to him will defeat Obama and then he will cheat Ron Paul too, or Ron Paul will be like a slave there ingovernment of pro-war mongers and global speculators.

  4. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/04/12/newt-gingrich-says-fox-news-wasnt-fair-and-balanced-about-his-campaign/

Two options clearly stand out; Fight to the end and yet get ready for an independent run. But this should be a given.

Here is a third option to explore; see what common ground you have with Newt. See if you can team up in taking Romney down. If Newt can talk to the old America and give credit to Ron Paul, that might help break the ice to get Ron Paul's message to old America.

And see if Newt and Paul can talk together about how bad Fox News is. Maybe Newt is too corrupt and prideful, yet I think it's worth calling him up and exploring. Romney and his brainwashed Fox News hold is the common enemy.

  6. GOP will give Ron Paul the GOP ticket if he threatens to run third party, the GOP can’t survive that. Ron Paul has to win or Kill the Republican Party, and if GOP don’t play ball they have to be destroyed.

Ron Paul has to stay as long as possible in the GOP race for media attention, and say that if they don’t investigate voting fraud he will run third party, and in the end if Romney is not becomes a conservative, Ron Paul will threatens the Republican party that he will run as third party. If Ron Paul dont win the GOP nomination, he should joint the Libertarian Party and Run with Gary Johnson

  11. I suggest Ron Paul goes on national media with Romney and Obama in a debate, speak their minds WITHOUT a TelePrompter - and have everyone watching to vote online and on the phone so EVERYONE can see just how powerful mr paul has become in the peoples eyes. We have been waiting for a real honest true american to run this country with its people in its best interest and money and big goverment not in mind at all. This man can and will do it, the national media, and all the lies and corruption that plants seeds in the Americans heads that Ron Paul CANT win is all bull crap, he can win, and will win we the people have spoken

  12. I selected that he should continue an all-out run for the GOP nomination, but I believe that the Ron Paul campaign should begin filling out the necessary state-by-state forms to be considered as a potential "write-In" candidate in the primary election. "If" he doesn't make it to the ballet, this will allow us the opportunity to vote for him. Seven easy letters..."RON PAUL"!

  13. Also, get the word out about Ben Swann’s Reality Check. Plan to write a letter letting people know about him and putting it in the newspaper. Telling everyone I meet. Of course, those that do social network sites, post his stories for everyone to see. You can sign up if you have a Facebook account and his weekly stories will be posted. Let’s use the internet as much as possible now.

  14. French Canadian,
Great suggestions yesterday…Thanks for your support…We talked about it in our meet=up group yesterday and feel we have to see it through in the GOP because if he pulls out now, he will piss off too many Republicans and will lose that support him there. This is the advice of older supporters who have been supporting him for many years. He does have many older people that support him, but you never hear about us. We just aren’t a vocal presence, but we are working tirelessly to educate people in our communities.

  15. People….Many older people like us still read the newspaper and don’t do social network sites. Write letters to your local papers and around your state if you have not had a primary yet…We wrote letters and sent it to newspapers around our state. Do an editorial? Get to the people that still read the newspaper. I did one to appeal to democratic voters in our state and why Ron Paul is the ONLY choice and highlighting what Obama has done during his administration to take away our liberties. Many democrats are still hypnotized and deceived. It took us several months to wake up a close relative that seems to have an infatuation with our president like many others. She gets her information from the MSM. We woke her up. My husband did one as a former Democrat that covers the economy, foreign policy and liberty issues. Please make sure to remind people what the deadline is in your state to reregister. We can’t believe how many people we’ve talked to that support Ron Paul, or those considering him, don’t know they have to reregister. Put that out anywhere you can-in your local newspapers. Wherever you think people will see it…We have to get those independents, democrats and libertarians on board.

  16. Why, in light of the impromptu emergence of the Tea Party movement in 2009 and the collective attitude of Americans in the 2010 mid-term elections, isn't Ron Paul running away with this election??? Why aren't people voting for him? His supporters are die-hard and aren't going anywhere. The focus should be on understanding why so many people are afraid to vote for Dr. Paul. Most of the arguments I hear from people as to why they don't like him seem to be based on inaccurate B/S they've heard from other conservatives who are regurgitating inaccurate B/S they've heard. I don't listen to Limbaugh, but I understand he keeps calling Dr. Paul a nut, (without providing any reason for that slander).

  17. Dr Ron Paul should now gain the mainstream by presenting RESULTS of his economical proposals, it means:
    - more new jobs, milions new jobs,
    - more money for Americans ( it means about usual citizens ), lower taxes
    - more money for retired people
    - honest health care and honest social care
    - aid for tornado victims
He is Christian and he is additionally tolerant. It should be used too.
It can be social libertarianism, it is likely social liberalism, then it can be social libertalianism.
It gets about lives of milions or bilions of people, his country and even his party. He must win. And he must promise and do everything to win.

  19. Dr Paul should continue to win the GOP nomination.
By the time the election comes around, Obummer will probably be eliminated due to ineligibility because of the birth certificate. This will give Dr Paul a good chance of winning as an Independant should he not win the GOP nomination.

  20. Stay in the Republican race till its officially over, but at the same time work to make sure you are in the Presidential debates against Romney and Obama as an independent or libertarian candidate.
I know its a lot to ask of a 76 year old man, but for now you are the leading voice in this campaign. We need you to fight to the end.
