The characteristic mark of a tyrannical regime is that it eventually finds it necessary to erect walls to keep people from leaving. This is why we should be troubled by the “Ex-PATRIOT Act,” an egregiously offensive bill recently introduced in the Senate. Following a long line of recent legislation and regulations attempting to expropriate more and more wealth from hard-working Americans, this new bill spits in the face of overburdened taxpayers and tramples on the Constitution.
Current law already dictates that Americans with a net worth of over $2 million who expatriate must be assumed to have sold all their assets and must pay a corresponding punitive exit tax on those assumed sales. The Ex-PATRIOT Act goes even further than current law by assessing a 30% capital gains tax on all future earnings of expatriates. Not content just with this additional tax, the bill also grants the IRS the sole authority to determine whether individuals have expatriated for tax purposes and allows the IRS to bar those individuals from ever re-entering the United States. Finally, the bill blatantly violates the ex post facto provisions of the U.S. Constitution by extending all of these provisions to anyone who has given up their U.S. citizenship within the past decade.
This bill, and other similar legislation, casts a chilling effect on saving, investment, and entrepreneurial activity. The bill was introduced in response to news reports about one of the founders of Facebook who might save millions of dollars of taxes by renouncing his U.S. citizenship. But in their blind envy towards successful entrepreneurs, the bill’s sponsors ignore the fact that they will ensnare many ordinary middle-class Americans who work hard, save and invest wisely, and benefit from rising home values. These Americans may easily find themselves pushing past the $2 million mark by the time they retire, especially as inflation continues to seriously accelerate. If they wish to escape the Federal Reserve’s inflation by emigrating to lower-cost countries so their dollars will go farther, as many Baby Boomers are starting to do, the federal government will penalize them, and continue to penalize them for the rest of their lives as long as they hold any money in the United States.
Unfortunately, the mere consideration of such legislation, even before it has passed, has made American banking customers a potential future headache for banks around the world. They don’t want to deal with the IRS any more than Americans do, and if American account holders become a Trojan horse for the IRS to insinuate themselves into their affairs, there may be more cost than benefit to extending banking services to Americans.
We live under a federal government that has eviscerated our Fourth Amendment rights, that can detain U.S. citizens indefinitely based solely on the President’s word, that assaults toddlers and grandmothers at airports in the name of security, and regulates virtually every aspect of our economic lives. No wonder increasing numbers of Americans feel this government is engaged in outright warfare against its own citizens. Every day the noose grows tighter, yet anyone who sees the writing on the wall and seeks to leave must pay exorbitant taxes just for the privilege of leaving, and increasingly the possibility looms of never fully breaking away from the government’s tentacles no matter where they go. Ultimately, the Ex-PATRIOT Act proposes to control people by controlling their capital, and it has no place in a free society.

Ron Paul to WIN — Or America to END 2012!
Here is the difference btwn Perfidy Mitt and Honest Ron Paul:
On one hand (more apt: underhanded) — the Mitt (who’s only real support is NOT for him, but AGAINST the BO — the usual voting for “the lesser of two evils” mentality) knows he needs to resort to all frauds and crookedness, to have a chance to win the nomination (in order to lose to the BO). These are the forces of the Dark Side.
On the other hand — there is Light! Ron Paul’s message of what is TRUE is irrefutable. It has ignited the hopes of all good people in our nation (and around the world) that Truth will win out over Lies, Good will trample Evil, Liberty will prevail against Tyranny, Government will bow to the Will of The People (not the other way around as the BO and the Mitt desire), all senseless Wars will be put to an end (we’ll speak softly again, but also carry a big stick), The Law of the Land will be the Original US Constitution (and all the hundreds-of-thousands of OPPRESSIVE Laws, Rules and Regulations passed unconstitutionally will be NEGATED), that the Citizen will be Sovereign AGAIN (and Government will become the Subject), that US Money will have Intrinsic Value AGAIN (not Promissory Notes printed ad hoc by a Private and Corrupted to the CORE Organization: The Feds) thus guaranteeing Prosperity once again…and the list goes on!
Despite the organized effort by the controlled media (here and abroad) and the nefarious means of our crooked politicians and their hired thugs, The People have embraced the Last American Patriot — Dr. Ron Paul — and the liberty flame that burns within us WILL NEVER be extinguished!
Our time is NOW (since we’ll reach the Point of No Return if the BO or the Mitt steal our Nation away from US) — We, the REAL AMERICAN PEOPLE, will fight for this cause that is Just and Honorable! I don’t think that ron paul being controlled by the shadow government is a reality. his message has been so pure and consistent in his public and private life, since he was first elected a congressman. He accepts no money for the constant defaming that he receives from mainstream media. There just is no incentive for him to go through what he does, with no compensation, for that many years. he doesn’t flip flop on issues and has a constitution that he guards with his life.

Where did he say that? Because from what I understand he just does not want states paying for abortions when the majority of the people in that state do not support abortions. Same with gay marriage. He feels the people of the state should be in charge of that. Maybe you need to truly listen to Dr. Paul and not what you THINK you heard or read him saying. I have never heard Dr. Paul say he wants to force women to have kids. He just does not support abortions. But he wont deny it to people.

Leave it up to the states, i am not pro life, but a Ron Paul government would not be a Pro life government.
It would simply give the states the decision, as with many things, like medical cannabis. Rather than leave it up to the corrupt, bloated, oppressive, authoritarian, anti-reality joke of a government the U.S has had for far TOO LONG.

The problem goes deeper than US citizens that want to leave the United States. I was born in the US but left the US when my two Canadian parents decided to return home to Canada. I have lived in Canada since I was a child, I am Canadian by birth, and considered myself only as Canadian. Last year I was told by the United States that I was still considered to be a US citizen, and being a US citizen I must report to the IRS. I am a Canadian, I work in Canada, I pay taxes in Canada, I was to young to even have a paper route in the US when I was a child, but the IRS thinks I should report to them. I am a middle class Canadian, but I renounced my US citizenship. There are about a million US citizens in Canada, most with only remote ties to the US. The US embassy’s in Canada are becoming backlogged with people that want to renounce. Many in Canada also believe that the true number of people renouncing is being deliberately under reported.
