In reality.. gold is no more valuable than fiat money.. think about that.

If you want to create a monetary system of TRUE value then we should look at it this way: how much fertile/organic land can you buy with a dollar?

I'm not talking about the mineral depleted and dying top-soil that the factory-farm industrial complex will continue to exploit until it all just blows away in a dust storm or produces crops with little viability to humanity...

Our current population tends to crowd into large cities that are completely propped up on oil energy, and we have little understanding of the real richness residing in the soil that grows our food and thus sustains our lives and well-being.

It doesn't matter how much you can produce with oil if you and your future generations can't eat reasonably priced and healthy meals with all the vitamins and nutrients needed to live a long and healthy life without unnatural disease.

Imagine how things could be different if the US Dollar were based on not a gold standard, but a standard of fertile/organic land.

No surprise when dealing with the likes of Alex Jones, a fear mongerers if there ever was such a thing. Jones and the likes scare the reason and logic out of people and give them that "why bother" mentality. But hey, I reckon thats alright as long as there is profit from book sales, dvds and public speaking to be gained.

Fair enough. I googled it and found two relevant bills: "District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871" and "Civil Rights Act of 1871". Apparently it's the DC act which "established a new territorial government for the whole District of Columbia. Though Congress repealed the territorial government in 1874, the legislation was the first to create a single municipal government for the federal district." Seems that Alex Jones & co are construing that to mean something more than it does.

No this isn't what I am suggesting at all. Again, 22y32g9 is the man that said "Google Act of 1871". Perhaps you should take this debate up with him. Perhaps he knows more than I on that matter. I'd be interested to see the discussion.

So you are suggesting that in 1871, the federal govt turned over control to "international bankers" in order to avoid defaulting on debt accumulated during the Civil War? If the federal govt was so tight for money, why did they eliminate the income tax in 1872? They obviously ran budget surpluses for 20 years since the national debt was reduced by 40% at a time of deflation (1.8%/yr) Debt was not inflated away. In 1890, you only needed 70 cents to purchase what a dollar could purchase in 1870.
