Based on that statment, its really you that look like an idiot. Free education is the best investment any nation can make, and many nations do it. In Norway for instance, education is also free for non citizens. Thats why many americans travel there to get a good education, because it is impossible in the US.

You are actually against education for all, wow tyranical leaders must love you:)

Because people that disagree with me does not automaticly annoy me. People that have a position because they are paid to on the other hand....
I see no evidence that Jill is a socialist, although I would have a problem with that. She is a social democrat, see scandinavia.

I don't care if you are socialist or capitalist as long as you behave in a social and ecological sustainable way.

Agree with Ron or not (I definitely do, Im a libertarian), you gotta admit the guy has more integrity in his little finger than most politicians have in their entire families.

Sure, but you said Ron Paul is a Republican. In name only. You should know very well that nne05's point was that in reality he is a radical libertarian. If anything should prove that, it is this speech. When someone says the constitution has failed, there's no way going around it that he is not really a Republican, but has gone way beyond that.

How that whole country did not get behind Ron Paul just puzzles me. I guess Americans would rather remain sheep and be another step closer to socialism.

You're misinterpreting "small government" as mearly a reduction in the number of government officials. The idea of smaller government involves the transfer of power to the private sector. Corporations would not have much use for a limited government and could only succeed by benefiting the people through providing services.

Who will think with my brain instead of me? Obama and his ilk? No. They are puppets themselves. So who has the power and who has the thirst to control everything and everyone? Those who already have immense power. But not all. The *Politburo* of two dozen CEOs of the top few international corporations. All the lying scumbags plotting behind the scene, bringing this nation to its knees, BUT I tell ya WE will stand tall and make the Real Change around here.

I'm not an American citizen, but a citizen of the World, and as such I applaud your speech. This speech has relevance right now to every developed, Western country, not just the USA. The tragedy is that this was your "Farewell Speech" to Congress, not your "Inaugural Speech". Good luck in the future, sir.

Not very surprising. Most people are not interested in discourse. They want support for their own values, and anyone questioning the values, must be silenced.

Because after all, if what we believe is right, turns out to be wrong, that is clearly a disaster of biblical proportions. We are what we believe, if you will.

The rumors of the civility of man are grotesquely exaggerated.

The absolute worst part is that he is mocked by BOTH parties. I will admit, he reminds you of your goofy uncle, but it's really surprising to listen to the things attributed to him. I consider myself a liberal and a democrat (barely) but the spin and propaganda on both sides is disgusting. We don't want an honest leader with integrity. We want someone who moves us emotionally. Eventually we will wake up. I just hope it's not too late for it.

I don't think big government is better at resisting lobbyists. The size of it is of no importance to me. Well, actually it is. A small group of people is easier to influence than a large group of people.

People allow it most everywhere by not resisting, so I don't see your point.

I have no magic solution to the problems. I do however have theories. Small government is not included in any my theories.

Thank you Ron Paul. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your many years of tireless service and undying sacrifice you gave to the people in this country. Unlike many of your collegues in Congress, you have always pursued the truth for the benefit of our nation, and courageously upheld our constitution with integrity and honor deserving to make our founders proud.
Only a true champion of the constitution, such as yourself, can endure all of the numerous attacks on our liberty confronting us from every direction. Thank you for revealing to us the exemplary behavior of a model citizen. For certain, your compassionate efforts will be remembered for generations to come.

    a utopia for corporations?

the utopia for corporations came in 1913 when small government then dropped the ball on that day for sure if you know what I am referring too, but how do you think big government is any better at resisting lobbyists...

your right in any government is corrupt, but only when the people allow it by not resisting.

if not big or small government what do you think should be in its place?

Actually, I have a short answer for you. A small, or minimal government is a utopia for the corporations. When government is small, lobbyists, can focus their efforts on a small government, instead of a big government. It is a classic case of magical thinking, to believe that government will be less corrupt if it is small. Government will ALWAYS be corrupt. Power is simply too enticing for most people, once they amass even the slightest amount of it.
