by Ron Paul
As of late Friday the ceasefire in Gaza seems to be holding, if tentatively. While we should be pleased that this round of fighting appears temporarily on hold, we must realize that without changes in US foreign policy it is only a matter of time before the killing begins again.
It feels like 2009 all over again, which is the last time this kind of violence broke out in Gaza. At that time over 1,400 Palestinians were killed, of which just 235 were combatants. The Israelis lost 13 of which 10 were combatants. At that time I said of then-President Bush’s role in the conflict:
It’s our money and our weapons. But I think we encouraged it. Certainly, the president has said nothing to diminish it. As a matter of fact, he justifies it on moral grounds, saying, oh, they have a right to do this, without ever mentioning the tragedy of Gaza…. To me, I look at it like a concentration camp.
The US role has not changed under the Obama administration. The same mistakes continue. As journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote last week:
“For years now, US financial, military and diplomatic support of Israel has been the central enabling force driving this endless conflict. The bombs Israel drops on Gazans, and the planes they use to drop them, and the weapons they use to occupy the West Bank and protect settlements are paid for, in substantial part, by the US taxpayer…”
Last week, as the fighting raged, President Obama raced to express US support for the Israeli side, in a statement that perfectly exemplifies the tragic-comedy of US foreign policy. The US supported the Israeli side because, he said, “No country on Earth would tolerate missiles raining down on its citizens from outside its borders.” Considering that this president rains down missiles on Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and numerous other countries on a daily basis, the statement was so hypocritical that it didn’t pass the laugh test. But it wasn’t funny.
US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton traveled to Tel Aviv to meet with Israeli prime minister Netanyahu, but she refused to meet with elected Palestinian leaders. Clinton said upon arrival in Israel, “America’s commitment to Israel’s security is rock-solid and unwavering.” Does this sound like an honest broker?
At the same time Congress acted with similar ignobility when an unannounced resolution was brought to the House floor after the business of the week had been finished; and in less than 30 seconds the resolution was passed by unanimous consent, without debate and without most Representatives even having heard of it. The resolution, H Res 813, was so one-sided it is not surprising they didn’t want anyone to have the chance to read and vote on it. Surely at least a handful of my colleagues would have objected to language like, “The House of Representatives expresses unwavering commitment to the security of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state with secure borders…”
US foreign policy being so one-sided actually results in more loss of life and of security on both sides. Surely Israelis do not enjoy the threat of missiles from Gaza nor do the Palestinians enjoy their Israel-imposed inhuman conditions in Gaza. But as long as Israel can count on its destructive policies being underwritten by the US taxpayer it can continue to engage in reckless behavior. And as long as the Palestinians feel the one-sided US presence lined up against them they will continue to resort to more and more deadly and desperate measures.
Continuing to rain down missiles on so many increasingly resentful nations, the US is undermining rather than furthering its security. We are on a collision course with much of the rest of the world if we do not right our foreign policy. Ending interventionism in the Middle East and replacing it with friendship and even-handedness would be a welcome first step.

I am a lifelong Democrat.
Ron Paul is the most conscientious, courageous, decent and honorable politician, if not in our entire American history, but most certainly during my lifetime of nearly 60 years.
Absent nothing short of a miracle, a man like that could never, and can never, get elected to the highest office in the land – in fact, in any major country in the world. Our socio-political-economic system is too corrupted for that to happen.
However, that being said, this miracle could come about if Ron Paul could run a “THROW AWAY YOUR VOTE AND VOTE FOR A GUARANTEED LOSER” presidential campaign since this is the biggest ammunition that all his opponents have to use – and have consistently used – against him in order to marginalize him and convince people, who otherwise would have voted for Ron Paul, that a vote for him is a wasted vote.
As well, this is the reason why most people don’t care to vote at all and prefer to sit on the sidelines. Since they believe that a vote for any politician is a wasted vote because they are all the same; drink from the same fountain of lies; and bathe in the same bath of deception and corruption.
If all these people make a conscious decision, and knowingly decide to throw away their vote, this would be the democratic equivalent of the French Revolution. This is the only miracle that I see. The media would have a field day with it. The pundits wouldn’t know how to spin this one.
@Ron Paul:
This is what I call a DISARM YOUR OPPONENT campaign strategy. By taking away their only weapon against you, you will now be free to send your message to the American people and they will now be free to hear your message. Ask people to vote for you if they truly believe you cannot win. That is the most powerful message you can send out to the American people.

As a German I only heard about Ron Paul, shortly after Romney became Republican Candidate. I wish the German Conservative Party – CDU, which actually isn’t that conservative anymore, had people like him. I would have voted for him, if I could.

Dr. Paul makes a great point when he calls out Obama, & his hypocracy in that speech. But, Israel didn’t engage in openly bombing another state without first being repeatedly attacked. Israel, not Palestine, is the country, & has been for generations. There is also a well known book, thousands of years older than Islam, called the Bible, which clearly states that this land is the promised land to the Jewish people. Jerusalem, allegedly a holy city to Muslims, is mentioned zero times in the Quran, yet several hundred times in the Bible. Centuries later, after much back & forth conquering & “occupation” by non-Jews, Israel was re-taken by it’s people, after they could trust few other places in Europe or the middle-east, to not scapegoat them.
Israel, like the U.S., has freedom of religion. There are many Muslims living peacefully in Israel. Muslims can serve in the Kineset, the Israeli government. The “palestinian” insurgents fighting in Gaza & the west bank are fighting because they refuse to live next to Jews peacefully, or under a Jewish government. Israel is a tiny sliver of land completely surrounded by vast, authoritarian Muslim nations, which are highly religiously intolerant. Jordan, Lebanon & Syria refuse to allow religious refugees from Gaza & West Bank into their countries, even though most Muslims in Israel / Palestine were originally emigrants from those countries. This is purposely allowed to happen by the Kings & rulers of these Arabic nations, to promote Jihad, & in the long run the Globalist’s Authoriatarian Collectivist New World Order agenda.
Is there a Synogogue of Satan? Yes. Do some of these Luciferians / Satanists claim to be Jews? Yes. Have they taken key positions of power in the U.S. government & intelligence community, Israel gov’t & intel community, the banking industry, & most of the world’s governments? Yes. Are they behind the U.N., IMF, CFR? Yup. Are they Globalists, secret society occultists, elitists, trying to bring forth a tyrannical New World Order? Oh yeah. Is Al-Qaeda, the Arab Spring, & the Muslim Brotherhood all part of this New World Order plan? Indeed.
It is wholly incorrect to blame the Jewish people, religion, or culture, for the deceivers, traitors, & faithless among all peoples of the world. The “Jews” involved in this New World Order, & there are many, are not true Jews but are descendants from the Task-masters, those who while in bondage in Egypt, chose to ‘police’, or ‘rat-out’ their fellow Jews, & enforce Pharaoh’s laws upon their own people, in exchange for better treatment from Pharoah. They long ago chose to betray & abandon their people & G-d, in exchange for earthly rewards & pagan beliefs. Still even today, the task masters role is to enforce & control but they are not the Planner, like the Pharaoh. The False-Jews, “those who claim to be Jews, but do lie, & are a Synagogue of Satan”, are only a part, only a role-player in the New World Order. Getting the World to turn against the Jews, is part of Satan’s plan.
That said, I am & have been a die-hard supporter of Ron Paul, Constitutional Conservatism, & Libertarianism. I agree completely that blind support of ANY foreign government can only be hazardous at best to the United States. I am in agreement with Dr. Paul that Israel as sovereign nation, not a state in a Globalist Nation, can & should defend itself, when necessary, without consent or assistance from another nation, namely us.

Ron Paul, freed of the encumbrance of running for office, IS NOW DEVOTING HIS TIME to Educate the People (and especially the young generation that will be our Future in a few years) that the Rights of the Individual, the US Citizen, are NEVER to be transgressed upon by any Unconstitutional “Laws, Rules and Regulations” that may be enacted by ANYONE in Office!
That Wars the White House starts without Congressional approval are not only Unconstitutional, but have bankrupted us! That our Money is funny paper printed by a Private, Never Audited, organization called the Federal Reserve Board, that is NOT part of the US Treasury Department (the only LAWFUL AGENCY ALLOWED BY THE US CONSTITUTION TO ISSUE VALID US Dollars)!
And the list of our Citizens sufferings goes on!
——————————————————————
Ron Paul will now have a greater impact in saving America then ever before! Expect great things from this Greatest American in the months to follow — and in the next few years — expect that HIS Liberty Movement will Finally END the Tyranny that the Centralized Federal Government has tried to impose on We, the People!
—————————————————————————————
In this latest interview (11-30-2012), Ron Paul logically dissects the problems of our nation — and gives apodictic solutions to the Intentional Mess the Criminals that have taken Control of the US Government have plunged us into!
Must watch 10 minutes video — spread it like Wildfire!

URL for Israeli claims they just completed testing their defense system:
http://news.yahoo.com/israel-successfully-tests-missile-defense-system-184817893.html
It is important that Republicans start to understand Israeli politics and defense before we get drawn into a conflict with China over this game. China is building oil refineries in Iran, and after everything else we have done to China, destroying those refineries looks like it would be the last straw.
Netanyahu was engaged in violent saber rattling prior to the election. Next, Obama was re-elected and Hamas thought they had a wonderful opportunity – just what Israel wanted: ISRAEL NEEDED TO DRAW LIVE FIRE TO TEST THE NEW HALF OF ITS ARROW 5 DEFENSE SYSTEM, DUE IN TOTAL IN 2014. Israel always rattles its sabers to attract live fire for testing their defense systems. At the end of 2009, Israel loudly announced they were going to engage in a test of their new Iron Dome defense system, but when they actually announced the test in advance, they get missile fire. This time Israel did not announce a test, so they drew a lot of rocket and artillery fire from Hamas, just what Israel wanted. However, there is still a problem with complete testing because they only drew one missile, and it fell short – fell into the ocean. Now Israel has to come up with enough saber rattling to attract actual missile fire, not just rockets and mortars. If not before, at the end of 2014, look for a lot of saber rattling again from Israel because they will be testing their complete Arrow 5 Defense System at that time. At that point the Israelis will have overlap in their systems to compensate for a former small margin of error. The Israeli Defense Systems are on GPS, and they allow rockets, mortars, and missiles to fall in unpopulated areas because they do not want the expense of deploying anti-missiles at all incoming fire. The new Arrow 5 Defense System will target all incoming fire very close to launch. In other words, if Pakistan launches a nuke at Israel, Pakistan is likely to get the fallout, if not the full impact from their own nuke.
Israel is becoming close to invulnerable. I wish I could say the same about the U.S. We do not have any of these Defense Systems – only ones against nukes, and all of the wars since the World War II A-Bombs have been land invasions. No country can afford to nuke another. Again, watch for another Israeli Defense System test at the end of 2014, if not before, you will be rewarded with another manufactured war.
Keep the U.S. out of this conflict. Israel has everything very well in hand. Hamas has to be dumb as a rock to ever respond to Israel’s challenges as would the whole Middle East, even Pakistan. As Americans, we need to stop being dumb as rocks about Israel’s game. Israel is shortly to be a world power, and I predict it will get really aggressive.

Israel is the only nation I have ever heard of that has taken casualties among its own soldiers in order to reduce casualties among their enemies (Lebanon war and also in Gaza). They have a love of Life.
The Palestinians have said they will win the war because the Palestinian love of Death is greater than the Jewish love of Life. But it is not really that. The Muslims greatly outnumber the Jews, so that the Jews cannot have a free, democratic society unless most of the Arabs are artificially excluded. This breeds ferocity and desperation in the Arabs. The Jewish/Christian “Holy Land” is also sacred territory to Islam–all of it. They do not have the free right to visit their Holy Places, and they do not agree that other people’s disinterest in their own religions means that they have to be as flippant on such things as Europe or the US.
The Palestinians originally wanted a One-State solution, in which Palestine would allow Jewish immigration and be ruled by the 90% Arab majority. If they had allowed all the Jews to immigrate, though, they would have lost too much land and sovereignty. So Israel declared itself a State in 1948, with most of The British Mandate going to the Arab State of Jordan. This is the Two-State Solution. It is unacceptable to the Arabs for good reason, so they created the Refugee Problem and the Terrorism Problems. They have been outraged. They are not just seeking homes and food, etc. but the full dignity of their religion and history.
This cannot be solved by US meddling, and without US aid, Israel might likely die.
But there are always solutions for men (people) of good will: those who fully respect the rights of others. I would propose a Three State Solution, recognising the THREE Abrahamic peoples with unalienable rights in this region: the Jews (by faith or race), the Muslims, and the Christians. Each should form their own government over the same overall territory, with full access to mutually sacred places for all 3 faiths, except the Temple Mount.
Only Jews by race or religion, and refugees such as Bahais should have Israeli citizenship. The Christians should come up with a name for themselves. The Muslims could be Jordan, fully united with that nation, or Palestine if only the part of the British Mandate West of the Jordan is included.
Each government should have its own license plates, postal systems and armies. The armies should drill together for mutual protection against any outside assault.
Many Jews by race are products of mixed marriages and are also Christian. These would have dual citizenship as Jews and Christians, and would have special dual license plates. There would be walled neighborhoods that would be exclusively Jewish or Muslim or Christian, and the three governments would cooperate to ensure free movement among them. There would also be open neighborhoods where all 3 faiths could live. Jerusalem’s Old City would be one of those.
All children should be required to be taught the basic beliefs of all three faiths in first grade, 6th grade or so and high school. The last course should teach about all the world’s major religions, and major sects (such as Sunni/Shiite Islam).
All children should also be taught the cultures of all three of these peoples, which should include field trips. Food should be sampled, with proper respect for kosher or halal rules.

While I agree with Ron Paul on how nations (like US) encourage hate against us; Ron’s comments about Israel show some ignorance about the long history between Israel and the Palestinian people.
Israel has encouraged violence against it before the nation of Israel was re-formed by occupying land without talking with the people who lived there. Israel would move a bunch of trucks into an area and within a day erect pre-fab buildings. This was the start of the aggravation against Israel, and is understandable. Then due to a historical rivalry between Jews and surrounding nations, nations around Israel have desired to wipe out the Jews. Not just defeat the leaders but completely wipe all the people. This forces a fight for survival on behalf of Israel which is much stronger than just a dislike. While Israel is fighting for survival. The peoples around Israel keep aggravating Israel and Israel pushes back in a serious manner.
To make things worse the US & UN has taked Terroist groups like the PLO, Hamas, etc and turned them into legitimate political powers that rule over the Palestinian people with an iron fist. The US & UN continue to fund and support these terror groups in the name of humanitarian aid. These groups self-declare that violence is the only way to liberate Palestine. The language of these groups charters goes as far as wiping all Jews off the land of Palestine.
This conflict is not as simple as Ron Paul makes it out to be. There is no simple solution. There is no easy struggle against groups that are willing to place women in children in the line of fire to protect themselves. There are ways that this can be made easier. The US and UN are not helping. Israel does much better that the US and UN as they have to live with the consequences. Israel’s heavy handed nature in dealing with security and the wars helps in the short run but not the long run. There needs to be a careful way to diffuse the situation, which could take decades.

Your comment illustrates how it is not Israel controlling U.S. foreign policy, but the the other way around. Really, it’s the Globalists in the U.N., U.S. gov’t, & all over the world who are promoting major conflict in Israel & the middle-east for profit, & to bring forth their New World Order agenda. The U.N. & U.S. have hindered Israeli efforts to protect themselves by dictating Israeli borders & returning conqured lands to it’s enemies, like the Sinai & Suez Canal. The U.S. & U.N. give aid to Israel’s enemies & protest Israeli housing development on Israel’s own land. Recently Obama even called for Israel to return to undefensable 1967 borders.
At the same time, the U.S. provides Israel (as well as her enemies) with all the weapons & aid they need to keep the relative stale-mate going, which keeps the conflict going, instead of allowing Israel to resoundingly defeat it’s enemies, as would have been the conclusion of all previous ground wars between Israel & her enemies..

I agree 100% with Ron Paul. US Support for Israel is a travesty. Their methods and level of expansion is mimicking the behavior of Nazi Germany in the early 30′s when all they said the wanted was “lebensraum.” It is contrary to international war and treaties they signed themselves, and US support of it is on the level of Neville Chamberlain’s quest for “peace in our time,” a complete sham. Worse, we are in violation of our own policy not to support terrorist nations, which is in actuality what Israel is. They have, by their own admission, in the past resorted to assassination, car bombing and other such methods to kill others without any consideration to civilians surrounding their “target.” If that is not terrorism, what is? Their military campaigns are nothing short of barely disguised and illegal land grabs to expand their fascist state. The civilian casualties they inflict are totally out of proportions with the military objective and can not be simply explained by collateral damage, they are nothing less then a policy of genocide against the Palestinian people. History will judge us harshly for this policy of supporting a nation that seemed to learn so well the horrific lessons of WWII and the methods of Hitler’s Germany that they adopted them for their own. We should cut all aid/support to Israel, expel their diplomatic missions here (who have been in the past found guilty of espionage against the US), and support if not introduce a call for international trade sanctions with the Israeli state at the UN. By condoning and supporting Israel’s behavior we are just increasing the level of violence and warfare there will exist there in the future , hurting our own economy, endangering the future safety of the US and destroying our credibility and good will in the international forum.

Land grab? Have you looked at a map? Israel is smaller than New Jersey, surrounded by nothing but vast Muslim Nations.
The only comparison that can be made to Hitler & the Nazi’s land grabbing, & consequent appeasement by the Europeans & the international community, can be made about Hamas, who despite their murderous, oppressive, terrorist tactics against their own people & Israel, have been given more & more land, & more international recognition & credibility, in their pursuit of the genocide of the Jews.
You’re calling Israel, the only nation in the region with freedom of religion, democracy, free markets, & a tolerant culture a “fascist state”? Try taking a good look at all the muslim nations in the region, meaning all the other nations in the region. Dictatorships. Theocratic nations. Sharia Law. Or worse. Just look at the turmoil in Egypt, & how the Muslim Brotherhood are tyrants. Look at Syria, & the occult Assad regime & their evil deeds. I’ve watched on youtube as radical muslims STONE a little girl to DEATH for BEING RAPED! They call it a mercy killing. Get a clue.
It is a known fact that Hamas & their brother terrorist groups strategically place civilians including women & children in & around their military targets to cause as many of their own casualties as possible to gain international sympathy from uninformed neo-liberal simpletons the world over. That is why the casualty rates are much higher. The radical muslims believe they are sacrificing for Allah. The Israeli’s actually get their civilians out of harm’s way, & they’ve had plenty of practice thanks to your friends & their death cult launching rockets on a daily basis.
As for cutting aid, I’m for ending ALL foreign aid, especially since we give 7x the $Billions we give to Israel, to Israel’s enemies.

Adam, of the middle East I only know what I hear which is most likely skewed as our main stream media and government lives on doing. We need to look in the mirror, we are far from perfect. We have a system that kills us and lets us die for every reason but none is nessisary. As Ron Paul always says “What is going on here!” I read the way everybody thinks and we are all so blind and brainwashed I’m suprised we can feed ourselves.
