Ron Paul & John Tate, Many of my 1st amendment, conceled carry licensed peers feel that your running just split the vote and allowed our current president to be elected, unfortuntaly many are just plain prejudice. Please tell me how to assure them that by supporting you this isnt and wont be the case. I’m in southern Michigan close to Ohio and Indiana and I would like to be more active in your campainge in the tri-state area. I feel the war on drugs is and always has been a great waste of US capital and a great way to fill the pockets of our dirty goverment on all levels, spawing violence and greed. I have personaly been deeply affected by the IRS and Ohio workmens comp. Again both money grabs stepping on small business’s. I have been self employeed since the age 12 and have learned lessons beyond my years.

    I fully support you.

Please address this vote splitting issue

I will continue to support you with all I can. I used to say I had more money than time, I am afraid now its the opposite

Best regards, lets take our country back

      Rick,

I would like to point out that Ron Paul is currenlty running for the Republican nomination and is not running as a 3rd party candidate. 3rd party candidates have been known to split voting coalitions. However, as I stated above. Ron Paul is currenlty competing to win the Republican nomination so he can then face off against President Obama on election day November 2012. 3rd party candidates will likely be in this race but tend to not garner more than than a few percentage points for various reasons.

That being said, I am not sure exactly what you mean by Ron Paul splitting the vote and allowing Obama to win. Is Ron Paul being presented as a 3rd party candidate and not a serious contendor for the GOP Presidentail Nomination in your neck of the woods.

Two things are clear to me, one, Ron Paul is strong amongst independent voters and can even dig into Obama’s coalition (i.e., anti-war, liberty, reformers) two, Republican voters, even those who have been indoctrinated by Neoconservative ideology will vote for him just so that they can beat Obama. The real challenge is making it through the Primaries which generally have lower turnout.

I hope you and your friends do decide to get involved in both the campaigne and beyond. From another Rick, I wish you well.

      ~Rick
