Ron Paul: Extra-Juridical Killing Is the Opposite of Justice in a Free Society

by Ron Paul

Last week, Senators threatened to put a “hold” on the nomination of John Brennan to be CIA director over his refusal to answer questions about the use of drones to kill Americans on US soil. That the president’s nominee to head the agency that has used drones to kill perhaps thousands overseas could not deny their possible use at home should be shocking. How did we get to this point?

The Obama administration has rapidly expanded the use of drones overseas, as they appear a way to expand US military action without the political risk of American boots on the ground. In fact they are one of the main reasons a recent Gallup survey of Pakistan, where most US drone strikes take place, found that 92% disapprove of U.S. leadership. This is the lowest approval rate Pakistan citizens have ever given to the United States. And it is directly related to US drone strikes. The risk of blowback increases all the time. However the false propaganda about the success of our drone program overseas leads officials to believe that drones should also be used over US soil as well.

In attempt to ease criticism of the use of drones against Americans, some in Congress propose more oversight, as if that should make us feel any better. In last week’s hearings, CIA nominee Brennan suggested that he was open to a Congressional proposal to set up a secret court to oversee the president’s program to kill Americans by drone. Should we cheer that a court selected by government officials will meet in secret to oversee the president’s secret decisions on killing Americans without charge or trial? Has the Constitution been so eroded that we accept such a horrific and terrifying prospect?

While touting the success of its overseas drone program, the US administration refuses to even admit publicly that the CIA has an overseas drone program. In response to a recent ACLU Freedom of Information request regarding the existence of the CIA’s drone program, the Department of Justice responded, “”the very fact of the existence or nonexistence of such documents is itself classified.” How is that for government transparency?

Recently, Federal Aviation Administration official, Jim Williams, stated that no armed drones would presently be permitted in US airspace. But what good are the promises of government officials when the Constitution, and especially the Fourth Amendment, has been gutted? More than1,400 applications to use drones in US airspace have been approved, including for police, universities, and at least seven federal agencies. Do we want to live in a society where the government is constantly watching us from above? The East Germans and Soviets could only dream of such technology in the days of their dictatorship. We might ask ourselves how long before “extraordinary” circumstances will lead to a decision to arm those drones over US territory.

The US government justified its attack on Saddam Hussein in Iraq and against Gaddafi in Libya, and elsewhere, with claims that these despots were killing their own citizens without trial or due process. It is true that extra-juridical killing is the opposite of justice in a free society.

As Judge Andrew Napolitano wrote last week about the president’s assassination program, “When [the president] kills without due process, he disobeys the laws he has sworn to uphold, no matter who agrees with him. When we talk about killing as if it were golf, we debase ourselves. And when the government kills and we put our heads in the sand, woe to us when there is no place to hide.”

  1. Robin, I have read just about every book on Israel that are around. But I come to the same conclusion as Alex Jones: "Israel was set up, it wasn't set up to give the Jewish people a land, no, it was set up to be an aircraft carrier in the Middle East to start a clash of civilization between the two sides". All part of the NWO's plan.

Just like Israel, Jordania, Lebanon and all the other Arab countries surrunding Gaza do not want to let Palestinians in their countries either. And why would that be? Because both side are runned by the same crooks of the NWO. So to focus only on the Israelis is absolutely FOOLISH and shows a one-minded view on History. USA is the Globalist country who controls all that, not Israel. You have in your country all the crooks:Federal Reserve Banks, UN, etc.

Did you take the time to listen to the 7 minutes video I've posted?

  3. French Canadian. I suspect that everyone is being moderated now. It started right after the domain debate, so possibly there were people posting things that they did not like. I wanted to recommend watching Michael Rivero's All Wars are Bankers Wars. It's nothing new to my husband, but it helped to tie some loose ends for me and a great video to share. I'm going to work on the CAFR issue in our county next. I have to meet with a new county commissioner who has been a CPA for 30 years. Still waiting for Ben to do a story about it, but it appears he is being pulled lately in another direction. He only has three programs a week, so I realize his time is limited. My Israeli friend told me they elected some new parliament members who realize that they have to change what they have been doing to the Palestinians and that all the Israeli's she has talked to are embarrassed by what their government is doing. I hope to learn more, although I think that there are still many who don't have a problem with practicing apartheid. It's taking about 1 day for mine to post...Don't worry, my husband gets info. for me...

    • Robin, I have a lot of problems with Mike Riviero. He is an Holocaust denier and Jew Basher (antisemite) and now he even bashes Alex Jones. But he was happy to be on his show for years.

Alex shares the same view on Israel as Ron Paul. He knows Israel is corrupted to the bones like the USA, but he also knows that Israelis and Americans are not bad people. He knows that some of the Israelis are as dumb as Americans, but he also knows that some of them are just as well informed and awakened as Americans . I can't stand antisemite people, they are brainwashed people full of hatred and have a bias focus on one nation only for all the evil in this world, when in fact, such a thing is an illusion and does not exist. I don't care where the evil started, it is not important. What is important is WHO decides to go along with this evil? THAT is the question to be asked. And the answer is: almost every government on this earth.

Riviero doesn't like Ron Paul and Alex Jones views on Israel, so now he is bashing Alex and he plays the game of "divide and conqueer". He is helping nobody with his stupid comments. We need to unite not to divide if we want to win this game. Riviero is a radical antisemite and he can not stand people who don't think like him. Alex on the other side, doesn 't bash Riviero because Alex is smart enough to understand that it doesn't matter if people disagree on certain things, the only important thing is the common goal of the endgame: Victory against the NWO.

I used to like Riviero, but I don't anymore. I can't stand blind minded people.

Please watch this 7 minutes video done on November 2012, you will see Alex's real view on Israel:

      • French Canadian, This is where I would disagree with you. Let's agree to disagree here. I believe Rivero just wants to know the historical truth of an event. We have done a great deal of research ourselves because we wanted to know why this is the ONLY time in history that is taboo. If any historian dares to question the events that happened, then they are labeled "anti=Semitic" and their careers are ruined. Just like any event in history, if there is nothing to hide, then it would not be forbidden. As far as denying the Holocaust, I believe that there are many questions about the way it has been portrayed in books, Hollywood movies, etc. Does that mean it wasn't a black mark in our history, absolutely not, but the fact that there is never any mention of how many Russians died during WW2-over 20 million and how many died in Nazi concentration camps is very telling as to whose lives were worth more. The same with other genocides in history that are never discussed. There are three books I recommend if you want to learn more if you are in fact a seeker of the truth. The Thirteenth Tribe by Arthur Koestler, The Transfer Agreement by Edwin Black and the one I am currently reading by Shlomo Sand The Invention of the Jewish People. The last book was a best seller in Israel. Sand is a historical researcher and professor of history at Tel Aviv University and he discusses the origins of Israeli's. All three of these authors are Jewish and have been ridiculed for stepping outside of the official narrative. Koeslter and Sand have researched the origins of the Jewish people and made some startling discoveries that most are not Semitic, but are descended from Central Asia. Arabs are Semitic, but I don't hear people up in arms when people discriminate or hate them. In fact, many of the Palestinian Arabs are actually Jewish who converted to Islam. You may not believe this is important to look into, but many of us do because of how it continues to be used to push an agenda. Here is a quote from Sand's book: And now the last, perhaps the hardest, question of them all: "To what extent is Jewish Israeli society willing to discard the deeply embedded image of the “chosen people,” and to cease isolating itself in the name of a fanciful history or dubious biology and excluding the “other” from its midst? So, as far as Israel, I believe in a one state solution not two, and that people need to stop assuming that the Israeli's are entitled to be there because they are the "chosen" people. "Sand's explanation of the birth of the myth of a Jewish people as a group with a common, ethnic origin has been summarized as follows: "[a]t a certain stage in the 19th century intellectuals of Jewish origin in Germany, influenced by the folk character of German nationalism, took upon themselves the task of inventing a people "retrospectively," out of a thirst to create a modern Jewish people. From historian Heinrich Graetz on, Jewish historians began to draw the history of Judaism as the history of a nation that had been a kingdom, became a wandering people and ultimately turned around and went back to its birthplace."[6] people and the Arabs are the invaders. I find it interesting that so many Israeli's were open minded enough to read his book, although all three books are controversial because they question the official historical narrative. I would say the same thing about the history of slavery which is also another time where much of the history has been rewritten. Another forbidden time in history for many. If you dare to question, you are labeled a racist. It's a very powerful way to keep from knowing the historical truth about a figure, event or period in history. Peace..

  6. French Canadian, Are you still on here or did you give up? Story today that Rand Paul gave back 600,000 in money he saved in his congressional office. Looks like he is setting the stage for 2016, but this may be one area he is like his father. I'm learning a lot about Israel from a new friend I met. She lives about 1 1/2 hours from Jerusalem. She is a liberty person whose husband is Israel and has been living there for 2 years.

    • No, I didn't give up, but my posts are on moderation for 2 to 3 days, so it is hard to communicate. All interviews on Alex's show these days are so powerful, I would like to post them here, but what's the point, they will get lost in moderation. Those interviews are diversified (on Dorner, Gun Bans, economy, the alleged family suicide of "conspiracy theorist" author Phillip Marshall, etc.). The callers also brings incredible informations. All these things would wake up people and it is a shame that I cannot inform people on this site. But I guess that this site is not about general information, it is only about Ron Paul. That is the only reason why I think they moderate me... I see nothing else.

Glad you have a friend that can give you live information. besidews Infowars.com, there is not many place to get the thruth on what's going on these days.

  11. Just as soon as the Yemen etc., cedes sovereignty to the United States, that line of law, would be more likely to apply. In the meantime, those Americans who choose to become an outlaw, an enemy and an existential threat to their homeland, will have to forego such legal protections. As has also applied to the UK, France and Germany, from where a similar class of miscreant has ventured forth, to fight for their misguided beliefs, to do deadly harm to others at home and/or abroad.

  17. What the Pakistanis who safe harboured UBL, whose ISI support the Taliban, think of the US, is of less than zero concern. In the era of the siege of Chitral, troops had to haul artillery through chest-high snow, to engage the enemy. Drones eliminate that problem. Americans who freely choose to travel overseas for the express purpose of harming or killing Americans and others, at home and/or abroad, have relinquished their rights, and cannot be allowed to utilise the law, to conduct Lawfare.

  18. What is scary about this is what they consider collateral damage, something like 30 civilians for every kill, including children, then they have the gull to pretend to care about children so they need all the guns. The government is literally acting like a villain from a twilit zone episode these days.

  19. The opposite of justice = Injustice

Justice begins by defending liberty. Serving justice is not about ruling people. It's about standing opposed to those who would. When you have a government that preys on peoples covetous nature, you have a government that serves injustice.

Why did JFK beg for help? He chose to oppose injustice.

JFK: "For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on 'covet means' to further its sphere of influence"
