There is no financial privacy left in this country. Banks have become a one stop shop for overzealous government snoops and other privacy violators, and we’ve been working overtime to impose our paranoid “Know Your Customer” standards on the rest of the world.
Medical privacy has deteriorated in a similar manner. Our medical records are being transcribed in India and insurance companies and other entities have the right to access our medical history any time they choose.

Although he defines marriage as between a man and a woman, he supports gay marriage under the grounds that the government should not be able to tell you who you can and can’t marry. It’s your decision and your decision alone, which in my opinion is a great position to take.

Abortion is state law and it is not just so simple as a right to be left alone. The woman can easily be alone but that does not make a baby. If she chooses to be with someone else she should figure out that being with someone else doing something that nature designed to produce new life could mean being with that new life-and the partner-for more than one night.

If you go to his issues/abortion page right on this site, it states the fact that even though he does not morally agree with abortion, he also (and this is a copy and paste) “At the same time, Ron Paul believes that the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution do not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion. Instead, it is up to the individual states to prohibit abortion.”
So he is remaining true. He doesn’t want to take away the right for abortion. He just wants to take away the right for the federal government to make decisions on it. That is how he is for most of his issues. State level = closer in the peoples hands.

Here’s the problem with that:
If you have a fundamental right to determine what happens to your own body, then that right cannot vacillate from state to state. Does Ron Paul also believe that some states can honor the Second Amendment and other states can outlaw guns altogether?
It’s more akin to interracial marriage, which was found to be a fundamental right in Loving v. Virginia. What some people “believe” to be moral or immoral for other people SHOULD NOT determine what your fundamental rights are! Mob rule was never an “original intent.”
BTW, Brent’s argument above = “Babies should be a punishment for having sex.” Not a persuasive argument.

Ron Paul is going to his 3rd state South Carolina and needs our support .
