  2. The fact that Ron Paul rejects Global Warming which has a complete consensus in the scientific community (yes the REAL peer reviewed science) alone disqualifies him from the position of being a president.

    You can't ignore the most urgent and alarming crisis humanity has ever faced and expect to be taken seriously by people with an average and above IQ and knowledge in their skull.

    The fact that he rejects evolution which is the broadest proven fact in history is yet another example of just how lost he is at very important subjects of science.
    We can't give power to someone who isn't in touch with reality on the most basic things that anyone above the age of 8 knows of (in the secular world).

    The fact that he opposes abortion because he has a delusion in his head that life starts at conception (it really doesn't, there is no conscious brain at conception, it's just as "alive" and "human" as a random spermcell) which then advertly affects women is just another example of how he lets his own personal delusions and opinions which are in contradiction with reality decide what's right and wrong for the people (living in reality which contradicts paul's beliefs).

    His constant obsession with liberty and rights without realizing that the liberties and rights we have today is a direct result of communities and societies working together as a whole.
    It's called progress and it's Paul's worst phobia.

    • @ParrotPatriot, where have you been? Global Warming is no longer supported by the scientific community. Even NASA admit it was bogus. Astronomers told everybody over a decade ago that it was ridiculous and used Venus as an example. Sorry but our influence does not extend to other planets so explain why they are all having abnormal weather that correlates to ours.

      NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

      Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA's Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA's Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.

      "The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show," Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. "There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans."

      In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.

      The new findings are extremely important and should dramatically alter the global warming debate.

      It is very clear to people with a brain that the so-called Global Warming/Climate Change
      theory was invented simply to create NEW LAWS to CONTROL PEOPLE and to
      make Huge FORTUNES with Carbon Credit Trading SCAMS.

      It is well known that the Earth has gone through much HOTTER and COLDER
      temperature PERIODS over the past many THOUSANDS of YEARS. Now where
      was the CO2 that was supposed to be the caused by modern technology way-back-then?
      There wasn't any, just the natural amount. It's mainly the SUN, how active it gets,
      and the Earth's ORBIT around the sun (no it is not perfectly round). Our sun goes through
      its own cycles. You can look back in history and find a period called the "Medieval Warm
      Period" where it was much warmer during 950AD to 1250 AD (approximately).
      Yes, about 300 YEARS of NICE WARM WEATHER. Where was the CO2 then?
      There was no modern civilization to supposedly "CAUSE" it. And the POLAR BEARS
      DID NOT DIE! Got it?

      Following the "Medieval Warm Period" there was the "Little Ice Age"!
      It went from about 1600AD to 1900AD. What caused that? No modern
      civilization pumping out plenty of CO2 to cause that either!! You can read

      IN FACT, we are still coming out of the "Little Ice Age" according to our
      scientists, so any WARMING we experience over the next 100 YEARS
      is considered NATURAL because all we are doing is coming back to a

      Sounds like GREENLAND's ice sheet melted. Did it cause a catastrophic 20 foot

      happened. Perhaps sea level raised a bit, but not to science fiction levels.

Actually, Chris, what I'm suggestion is that, IF, there is going to be any publically funded education, then let it be subjects that is useful in any industry that a child chooses when they reach adulthood. It's the PARENTS responsibility to to define their ethics and values as human beings, and citizens, not public institutions. It's the PARENTS responsibility to encourage their children's creativity, and channel and focus, and encourage thier EVER CHANGING AND INCREASING interests and whims; believe me, I know my own interest and creativity was so broad that it was ever difficult to focus on any one interest to master it. But learning a trade, and or exploring interest, creativity, options, etc., has alway traditionally been the providence of a family's father, and/or parents. But I have discovered that whatever trade or whatever hobby turns into a business, or whatever job/s I eventually qualified for as an adult, I found out that everything, journalism, photography, dancing, engineering, whatever it may be requires business skills, math skills, spoken and written business communication, etc. These basic skills, incrementally advancing in levels, (much in the same way they do now), can be provided by publically funded education (if We the People keep public education) regulated by local and state governments to promote compitetion among the states. Families must focus their children's ever growing and ever-hyper, insatiable creativity and curiosity, while the village gives them their basic practical skills and knowledge to be succesful in our ever changing society. We can still make education fun and creative, especially at the grammar school level, with projects, and historical plays, coloring, and all that stuff that helps kids learn; they can still have play breaks, lunch, field trips etc. But my argument is to get REAL education back in schools, (especially if We the People keep publically funded instititions) and teach the kids real life applications of knowledge. I agree more with the Jeffersonian take on public education: A free education and a free press insures a free society.

  9. I agree with James. (SMART KID - I WISH I WAS THAT SMART WHEN I WAS A KID!) The one thing I have been lamenting over the most out of my public education is that I was never taught Personal and family finances, and REAL politics and history, not George Washington chopped down a damn cherry tree.

    Home Economics is a damn joke! I never needed to know how to sew an apron, or fry an egg. I already knew how to fry a damn egg. Talk about a waste of public revenue, time, space, and resources. REAL HOME ECONOMICS is learning how to run a home, family financing, budgeting, accounting, savings, staying out debt, limit your credit use, saving for a home, a future, etc. TEACH THE KIDS DAMN IT! If you're gonna tax me for it, TEACH THEM!

    Art, music, sports, singing and dancing, and all other abstract crap should be 100% funded by the kids' parents if they have a real interest in it. All that track and field space, and little theaters, and other wasted space, and courts space can be used to build hundreds of small classrooms and teach only FIVE basic life transferrable skills and knowledge. Mathmatics, Personal Finances, REAL HOME ECONOMICS (key word: REAL), Real American History/Government/Politics/Legal System, General & Applied Sciences (the kind used in real industries,) and English/Composition/Bus. Comms./Critical Thinking/Debate (leave poetry and abstract stuff for those parents willing to pay for it themselves).

    Any parent that thinks they have a pro-football star in the making, let them put their money where their mouth is and pay for him/her to join member's funded community leagues, or go to private school. Stop passing stupid jocks on through with mediocre grades, and if they get a ditzy cheerleader who can't fall asleep with her legs closed pregnant, let the parents also be responsible for them. Get off our dollar, because soon there won't be enough money to pay for ignorance!

    • Five core subjects? What, for their entire span of education or just through high school? You propose to lock 30+ kids in a little box for six hours to learn about the same things every day? Without a creative outlet?

      You are suggesting we replace one authoritarian rule with a more rigid one. I agree with the general consensus that No Child Left Behind is harmful to education, but it's not right to force all schools to conform to one standard.

      If a child spends all day in an institution and all evening performing tasks (homework) for that institution, then when do they realize their natural talents? What happens to journalism class? Where are our photographers? Better yet, why don't the kids get a choice in what they want to learn? Oh that's right! Because we know what they need better than they.

      • I agree with No Child Left Behind sponsorship of the cost of education only. Basis education (until K12) is a must and should be funded by public money for those who could not afford private education. That does not mean though imposing rigid and ineffective standards that eliminate individual choices and place all students in one little box. The quality of education is not promising and that is NOT due to the fact that education is public like many would say. We are a nation of wasteful administrators and bureaucrats. Much of the wasted money can be allocated to developing more choices and resources for students, but as usual everything in our culture is commerce and is exploited for the benefit of a third party exactly like administrative cost of welfare and healthcare which serves NOT the target of such programs!

        There are many things that can be changed to enhance the educational system. One is offering more focus on reading, math and research. Journalism and communication skills are another. More hands on and career preparation is yet another. I think every student by the end of K12 should be prepared to head a life on his own. Education should be more tailored towards the specific career. For instance, students preparing for a physician career should be taking biology, chemistry, and anatomy classes as from the first or second year in HS while freeing the student from all other garbage elective and humanity classes. This is NOT to undermine the importance of liberal arts education, but only to set priorities straight. We no longer could afford long years of expensive education and we must start getting more efficient.

        • Can't argue with this. Gotta say a lot of our schools are garbage, and the curriculum greatly changes from school to school. My son's mother does a lot of moving, but I have him every weekend. He changed schools 5 times in the last 3 years. He landed in our local school on the last move. the curriculum difference from here to 10 miles away was huge, and I spent most of the weekend catching him up to the other children.. The last school he was in was more of a crowd control than anything else.. the requirement to pass was only 60% and it was full of children who were raised with no moral compass. they had no gripes about smashing out a window or the such.

          I'm not sure if this is the main cause of the lower curriculum, or if its just pure laziness on part of the staff. however something must be done, and soon. Our children are growing lethargic and uneducated in alot of areas

          On a brighter note however, our local highschool is actually adopting things as you have mentioned.. they have classes geared more towards careers. And have a Vocational tech school right next door which children can take 1/2 of the day. The productivity of these children turned out to be amazing in the local work force. 1/3 of our students leave school certified in welding/ auto mechanics/ computer science/ nursing aid/ Carpentry/ cosmotology/ business/ residential electric/ and graphic arts. They may have added a few that im unaware of but this was all done on the local level.

          I agree that more schools should adopt these tactics as it gives you an edge upon leaving highschool and creates a more productive society. This is a pure example of how everything you just said actually works in the system. I wish more people would realize this.

        • We as a country are among the four HIGHEST SPENDERS on education, delivering the 34th in education results. Wouldn’t it make sense to study Finland, who has the best education results? With our annual county primary and secondary school budget of $370 million this year, spend a couple of thousand on each, and have a team of principals evaluate what we could use. Why are we not learning from the best, who by the way are doing the job less expensively than we do? Wouldn’t it make better sense to spend a few thousand dollars there than spending two or three times the normal amount of millions in high schools that are going nowhere with ACT scores in ten years?
          Finland is the top country in the OECD-PISA tests which is the international authority for high school level testing according to the US Department of Education. It happens to be a beautiful place also.

          Being a teacher in Finland, as in most industrialized countries, is the most highly respected position. Medical doctors come second. I do not think that this is a cultural difference. The education system is set up such that they earn people’s respect every day by the way they are centrally managed in the country to the highest standard in the world and by the level of authority that is given to the teachers. Teachers are also very well trained. Keeping both teacher competence and school quality the best is a national mandate in Finland.

    • While you have a point here Dave, what you are not addressing is that parents won’t pay for these "abstract" subjects. It's already difficult enough to buy all of the supplies required for these subjects. If we left the entire burden to the parents, many children would miss out on opportunities to express themselves. Expression is absolutely vital for survival, sir. It is the arts, the creative outlet, which keeps many of our kids from committing suicide, feeling that they are worthless, or turning to a life of drugs and crime.

      I also must defend the literary and educational value of poetry. Poetry is regarded as an art form and consequently overlooked by people such as yourself. But learning to analyze poetry strengthens analytical and creative skills. These are the kinds of skills that make CEO's, presidents, celebrities, scientists, nurses and many other successful people. There is a lot to be learned through the arts and doing away with them would result in the unfortunate loss of important education. Our educational system is flawed enough as it is, let's not make it worse.

      I do, however, agree with your point that we should be teaching students to budget finances, take care of a family, and operate as a citizen of America. I would absolutely love to able to read financial news and understand it all. Unfortunately, even with my college degree from UT, I have to research to keep up.

      You have some fantastic points, but don't be quick to diss the arts. There are more benefits to these educational programs than you are aware of.

  10. As an incoming high school junior, I totally agree with Ron Paul on education. No Child Left Behind and the Department of Education has put too much pressure on schools through standardized tests, all this smart board crap, etc. I agree with him that it should be the parents, community leaders, etc. running the system, NOT washington bureacrats! I am also suggesting some ideas in addition to what Ron Paul has suggested:

    1. Teach Money, Business, and Finance in school. Most of our debt problems, fights over money, etc. would have never taken place if schools taught money and business.

    2. Get rid of Zero Tolerance policies that punish the use of asprin and other politically correct nonsense

    3. While some stuff may be necessary to block on school computers (i. e. pornographic content, viruses, gruesome content) but we block waaaaaaaaaaay too much. We should give kids the chance to explore (within reason).

    4. In my county you need a permission slip just to show PG-13 content for certain curriculums. Why, when everyone at my school is 13 and above?

    5. Last but not least, we should run schools like a business. Why does every other industry like autos, planes, restaurant chains, etc. have good quality? FREE ENTERPRISE!!!

    • Have you read Howard Zinn's "A Peoples History Of the Untited States" ??? If yes did you read it on your own or was it assigned reading or used as reference in your school? If not I highly recomend that you pick up a copy to read...And don't be affraid to use it in your American History class or as a reference for writing essays on our Government. Hopefully you don't have some "jock itch" coach for a history teacher like I did.

        The book is an excellent outlook on our history. It is a must read for every American who wants to sort out the BS we have been fed. History as Napoleon pointed out is written from the perspective of the winner---and who that could be besides the victorious bureaucrats and their sponsors--their banking dynasties? His book concludes that our conflict has been a CLASS conflict even racism was a political cover for it, so is our ill foreign policy today which is driven by the money machine. Do you know that there were only seven nations in the world that resisted central banking and they are all on our terrorist nations list? We invaded two of them Iraq and Afghanistan that are no longer central banking free! Iran is still one nation without central bank and we are trying our best to strike it using the security of the Jewish State as a pretense! Thanks for pointing out Howard Zinn. He was a true hero of the broken wings.

    In addition for allowing dysfunctional medical drugs companys to knowingly distrubute : highly addictive , synthetically made , and usually hazardous drugs , creating more harmful sypomtoms than treating . While also outlawing natural medinces and Resonable ,controlled, self medication .
    For the excessive imprisonment ,fines and fees of non-voilent , non destrutive ,produtive , people for canabesis use ,apperatus, production , and or disturbution .
    The U.S. gov. has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

    It has called together legislative and Corpate bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with its measures.

    It has dissolved Representative Parties repeatedly, for opposing its policys with firmness of the Federal and state governments invasions on the rights of the people.
    The Fed. has tried to make Judges dependent on its Will and the Will of Big business for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries and benifits.

    It has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

  14. "Fair Tax" sounds best to me. Taxed a flat % on everything you buy. No income taxes what-so-ever. Now you control how much tax you pay. Rich enough to buy a lot... you get taxed alot. Too poor to buy alot...your not taxed so much.
    Tourist and illegals will also be helping pay the tax load in this country.

    • I don't think that a flat tax % based on sales tax is actually fair. It would be unfair in that people who do not make a lot of money have to spend all or most of their money to make ends meet (effectively forcing them to pay taxes on 100% of their income), while those with a large income can live on a percentage of that income and so effectively avoid taxation.

      • The poor already pay taxes on nearly 100% of their income, it's just not listed as "Income Tax" per se. Instead it's called FICA. Set properly poor people can actually make out better on Fair Tax than they do under the current regime of Income + FICA + State & Local Taxes.

        Most Fair Tax implementations I've seen proposed start out with deductible or a minimum. So your first $10,000 or whatever are tax-free and you pay out after that. That would cover a large portion of your basic necessities. Then you start paying out at some sensible rate for the rest.

        A rich guy that buys a new Lexus each year would blow through his $10,000 in a month, easily. And under this system, the silly tax avoidance theatrics aren't helpful or necessary. No 401(k)s, no deductions for this and that, no hiding money offshore, no 50 page tax returns. You don't have CEOs taking a $1 salary and paying no taxes but still somehow buying $5,000,000 worth of property & services.

        It isn't perfect - no system is - but rich vs poor assessments aren't really a problem for Fair Tax.

  15. Remember the last election? During the republican debates only one person was commenting on the upcoming economy crash and America's impending fiscal meltdown, Ron Paul. Everyone else was beating the popular drum of the Iraq "war".

    I don not agree with all of Mr. Paul's positions, but the man knows the economy and the economy is the big drum now.

    Of course the road to repair is painful, and that will not be popular.

      I love Mark Twain and his intuitive wisdom, but it is time for the wise to open their mouths and speak up.

      Dr. Paul has some intuitive sense of something wrong going on, but he is NOT putting his finger yet on it. The gold standard he is suggesting is NOT going to work. For more debate on the issue, tune in to the Sound Money forum and explore the reasons yourself. The war drums like the TSA...like the war on drugs...like the contra affairs...like the Middle East/US politics is all run by banks and greedy corporations. We do not have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. We are ruled by banks and corporations and some treasonous bureaucrats who work for them. Unless we confront this theme, nothing makes sense and we will continue to spin in the money sink on our way down the drain. Our politics is nothing short of class war and so we create fictitious enemy to distract from the real enemy. We are on our way to one central world government ruled by banks and money dynasties. The situation is much more severe than the tiny bit scattered pieces of politics here and there. The money dynasties have succeeded in creating and securing a system of government that serve their interest and their interest alone. When we go to war, we do that for the sole benefit of the elite. When we conduct our airport security, we do that for the sole benefit of the elite. When we introduce tax cuts, we do that for the sole benefit of the elite. When we privatize our government, we do that for the sole benefit of the elite. If you do not see it yet, go on with the list and see for yourself. When things do not make sense, just follow the money trail and you shall find the answer!
