Health Care

In these United States of America, many people cannot afford even basic health insurance. They suffer severely under the present system and have to live under the constant fear of not knowing what they will do if they or their loved ones ever fall seriously ill.

But in many cases, insured individuals aren’t much better off either. In comparison to the exorbitant insurance premiums they pay, the medical care they receive is often very poor.

Additionally, due to the government-enforced monopolies of HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) and pharmaceutical companies, many patients will never even hear about some of the most effective and non-invasive treatment methods. These natural and inexpensive ways of regaining one’s health are being suppressed by the FDA and the medical establishment not because of safety concerns (they’ve been around for hundreds of years), but because they cannot be patented and would therefore cut into the pharmaceutical industry’s profits.

The current system is most definitely broken, and it must eventually be abolished if we want to regain both our health and our freedom.

But Obamacare is the worst possible answer. All it does is perpetuate a flawed system by forcing everyone to become a client of insurance companies, even those who don’t want to or need to participate.

Why should anyone be forced to subsidize the medical care of others? Very few individuals would personally assault their neighbors at gunpoint and steal thousands of dollars to pay for their own medical needs. How could any freedom loving person agree to delegate such criminal acts to the government by supporting a compulsory health insurance system?

There is only one solution that will lead to true health and true freedom: making health care more affordable. Ron Paul believes that only true free market competition will put pressure on the providers and force them to lower their costs to remain in business. Additionally, Ron Paul wants to change the tax code to allow individual Americans to fully deduct all health care costs from their taxes.

Through these measures and the elimination of government-sponsored health care monopolies a much larger number of people will be able to finally access affordable health care, either by paying for medical insurance or by covering their medical expenses, which are now much lower, out of their own pocket.

As for the poor and the severely ill who can neither obtain insurance nor pay for the medical care they need, Ron Paul offers the following solution in his bookThe Revolution: A Manifesto“:

In the days before Medicare and Medicaid, the poor and elderly were admitted to hospitals at the same rate they are now, and received good care. Before those programs came into existence, every physician understood that he or she had a responsibility towards the less fortunate and free medical care was the norm. Hardly anyone is aware of this today, since it doesn’t fit into the typical, by the script story of government rescuing us from a predatory private sector.

Illegal aliens already receive de-facto free health care. Why can’t poor Americans have the same… not as a right, but as a charitable benefit provided by doctors who feel a personal responsibility for their fellow citizens?

Unfortunately, the current medical monopoly corrupts many doctors by rewarding practices that are not in the patients’ best interest. Pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in not curing people, but getting them permanently addicted to expensive drugs that have many side effects, thereby requiring additional drugs to suppress those side effects. Many doctors are afraid to speak up and question the system for fear of being ostracized by their peers or even losing their license.

Under a liberated health care system prices would come down and additional options would become available, thereby making health care much more affordable. Moral corruption would give way to true compassion, and many doctors would remember their implicit obligation to provide free medical care to those in need, just like they did in the past.

As a medical doctor, Ron Paul swore the Hippocratic Oath many decades ago. His entire person and career is a monument to the beauty and sanctity of human life. Ron Paul knows that life without health can be very difficult and is not what it was meant to be. He has personally cared for the poor for many years, without asking anything in return.

The government’s original role is to protect our freedoms and restrain itself from causing too much harm. Ron Paul is working to prevent greedy bureaucrats, opportunist politicians and corrupt pharmaceutical companies from having any sort of unhealthy influence over our bodies and minds.

Join the Ron Paul Revolution and help us put the federal government back where it belongs: to Washington DC and out of our daily lives.

Transcript:

Government has been mismanaging medical care for more than 45 years; for every problem it has created it has responded by exponentially expanding the role of government.

Points to consider:

  1. No one has a right to medical care. If one assumes such a right, it endorses the notion that some individuals have a right to someone else’s life and property. This totally contradicts the principles of liberty.
  2. If medical care is provided by government, this can only be achieved by an authoritarian government unconcerned about the rights of the individual.
  3. Economic fallacies accepted for more than 100 years in the United States has deceived policy makers into believing that quality medical care can only be achieved by government force, taxation, regulations, and bowing to a system of special interests that creates a system of corporatism.
  4. More dollars into any monopoly run by government never increases quality but it always results in higher costs and prices.
  5. Government does have an important role to play in facilitating the delivery of all goods and services in an ethical and efficient manner.
  6. First, government should do no harm. It should get out of the way and repeal all the laws that have contributed to the mess we have.
  7. The costs are obviously too high but in solving this problem one cannot ignore the debasement of the currency as a major factor.
  8. Bureaucrats and other third parties must never be allowed to interfere in the doctor/patient relationship.
  9. The tax code, including the ERISA laws, must be changed to give everyone equal treatment by allowing a 100% tax credit for all medical expenses.
Laws dealing with bad outcomes and prohibiting doctors from entering into voluntary agreements with their patients must be repealed. Tort laws play a significant role in pushing costs higher, prompting unnecessary treatment and excessive testing. Patients deserve the compensation; the attorneys do not.
  10. Insurance sales should be legalized nationally across state lines to increase competition among the insurance companies.
  11. Long-term insurance policies should be available to young people similar to term-life insurances that offer fixed prices for long periods of time.
  12. The principle of insurance should be remembered. Its purpose in a free market is to measure risk, not to be used synonymously with social welfare programs. Any program that provides for first-dollar payment is no longer insurance. This would be similar to giving coverage for gasoline and repair bills to those who buy car insurance or providing food insurance for people to go to the grocery store. Obviously, that could not work.
  13. The cozy relationship between organized medicine and government must be reversed.
Early on medical insurance was promoted by the medical community in order to boost re-imbursements to doctors and hospitals. That partnership has morphed into the government/insurance industry still being promoted by the current administration.
  14. Threatening individuals with huge fines by forcing them to buy insurance is a boon to the insurance companies.
  15. There must be more competition for individuals entering into the medical field. Licensing strictly limits the number of individuals who can provide patient care. A lot of problems were created in 20th century as a consequence the Flexner Report (1910), which was financed by the Carnegie Foundation and strongly supported by the AMA. Many medical schools were closed and the number of doctors was drastically reduced. The motivation was to close down medical schools that catered to women, minorities and especially homeopathy. We continue to suffer from these changes which were designed to protect physician’s income and promote allopathic medicine over the more natural cures and prevention of homeopathic medicine.
  16. We must remove any obstacles for people seeking holistic and nutritional alternatives to current medical care. We must remove the threat of further regulations pushed by the drug companies now working worldwide to limit these alternatives.

True competition in the delivery of medical care is what is needed, not more government meddling.

So, you like the idea of being led around by the nose, being a dependent to your government rather than the other way around.

Below I discuss a system for caring for one's health with few, if any, strings attached. It allows one to maintain their independence from government interference in their life as opposed to the dependency forced upon one via an insurance based national health care system.

I am 66 years old, Just one of the medications I take cost $700 per month, and that is for 30 pills. For anyone to think this system is not broken is beyond me. Do we need competition? I would think so. If this $700 drug were to get to the stage of becoming generic, they the drug company would find some way around that so they could sustain the high price. Don't say that this does not happen because I have seen it before. By the way I had to stop the $700 could not afford it. The drug companies are robbing us while we watch. Bottom line the government can not take care of you because remember they are broke. So what do people want? They want me to help take care of them through the government when I can not even afford my on medication. The doctor is absolutely right on this one. We need competition. @john lockes ghost

The Medicare prescription drug plan is a rip off. Designed to create a costly dependency between a patient and the nation's drug cartel. I would bet you that your $ 700/month medication costs only a fraction of what is charged in the United States on the international market. And, don't let anybody kid you about the drug being unsafe because pharmaceutical companies are international having production facilities around the world. So, you get the identical medication from Canada, for example, at a fraction the cost. Now, the government doesn't want you to do this. bush worked out the scheme with big pharma that produced the Medicare plan insuring that Americans would pay exorbitant prices for medications and face criminal charges if they went outside the United States to get their prescriptions filled. As a matter of fact, big pharma now wants you doctor to electronically send your prescription directly to the pharmacy of your choice so as to prevent you from acquiring the medication out of the country. This unconstitutional activity on the part of our government needs to be stopped. @Bill Hawkings @john lockes ghost

@john lockes ghost@Bill Hawkings Corporations have factories in other countries because it's cheaper for them and they can make profits. Guess what: the pharmaceutical corporations do the same! and they don't sell only to US! they sell to other countries too! so how come, the SAME medicine from the SAME labs, here it costs 4 times more?

"Cause big pharma thinks we're wealthy. It really is a racket, for example, I take a medication that is not even produced in the U.S., but a U.S. pharmaceutical company repackages it, put their name on it and sells it for a little more than 4 times the price. Other medications sell for as much as 6 1/2 times as much. There's no logical explanation other than greed.@ImAnyelina @john lockes ghost @Bill Hawkings

I just wanted to throw this out there:The IRS is 'owned' by IMF (International Monetary Fund) which is in turn under the list of the United Nations System of Organizations. So, at the moment, not only is paying income taxes unconstitutional, but that money doesn't even stay in our own country (provided you think the U.N. isn't America (remember that New York is known as the capitol of the world)). @novemberyork

I haven't had any form of 'healthcare' for over 10 years (minus while I was giving birth). If people want to feel healthy, eat right. If you want to concentrate better, exercise. It should never be the governments responsibility to hold your hand when you get sick. People, get off your lazy asses. Start taking care of yourself instead of expecting some imaginary being to come swooping in and whisk you into pure healthiness because you were too lazy to do it yourself. 'Healthcare' is not a right at all, you are just too pampered to see it.

@Merdi What are you going to do when a tumor the size of an Orange is found attached to an Ovary? Are you going to exercise it away?

Do you honestly believe that eating right and exercise will ward off all disease and illness?

My next-door neighbor who ran 6 miles daily and ate a very healthy diet as his wife was a nutritionist ended up dead from a little melanoma spot on the back of his leg (probably received from running with the sun to his back).

Don't worry Merdi, we'll be sure to swing by and tell you what a "lazy ass" you are, since that's what seems to help motivate you back to health.

@kontiki@Merdi You are right kontiki, by eating well and exercising only won't help to eliminate that orange-size tumor. I think that we need to reduce the probability in getting cancer, and it's not only by eating well and exercising. We need to DETOXIFY frequently to remove all the toxic chemicals that gets concentrated in our bodies not only from the food (like mercury from seafood, MSG, aspartame, sulfites, etc), but from all the products we use, (like the formaldehyde of shampoos, triclosan from soaps, lead from cosmetics, BPA from containers, microwave, etc). You can see that in your household, probably you have a lot of products that have cancer-causing chemicals. So it's not enough to eat well and exercise, we have to be more careful than that. All the cell phones, screens, expels bad radiations so how you can see, there are a lot of things that cause cancer that we can try to reduce our exposure to them. We all can get cancer, but in the moment I think I have it, what would be worst? 1) to have universal health care where I have to wait 6 months in order to just have an appointment and an examination? 2) or better to have a free-market where I have covered treatments with my local hospital who I've been paying them directly in monthly basis instead of an insurance? Universal healthcare is NOT free, you have to pay very high percentage from your income for this! so what if you pay directly to a hospital in monthly basis (like an insurance) in case of a cancer or similar costly disease/injury? with a free-market that doesn't mean you have to pay always and ONLY in full for all your treatments, people will still can pay monthly payments and have "insurance" but the difference would be, not paying to the big health insurance companies but directly to local clinics/hospitals. And what someone has said before here: they will have like a network in case you are out of town and have an emergency, your local hospital will transfer the payment. This will help for more competition, all clinics, doctors, hospitals will be competing each other, they will have to offer great quality service and better prices which we all benefit from it!

I like most of what is said here, but there is one issue I have... And its is the ONLY, I MEAN ONLY part of Obamacare I agree with: Remove the insurance's right to deny preexisting conditions. I don't care about anyone's reasoning for this policy... You cannot relate Health care insurance to a car insurance policy. We can't scrap our bodies and go out and get a beater to get around on. Our health care system is broken and one of the main reasons why is b/c of the 'preexisting condition' policy they use. I've know too many people with backs or knees that slowly go bad over time. Some of it being heriditary (sp?). But, they would get coverage as children under their parent's plan and then once no longer under their parents' coverage found they could not afford it by themselves... Many low paying jobs did not offer coverage. And guess what, if you were in your 20's you probably considered yourself in good health and did not need coverage. So, many didn't worry about it. The cost of coverage to the average American (not through their job) is ungodly. Most people in their twenties working low paying jobs are the ones who are suffering the most from all of this. They can't afford Insurance, most companies just started offering the ability to their low paid staff. And still many companies are opting out of offering insurance at all. I get the idea of what insurance was meant to be, but the idea that they can deny you from getting help to paying for a back surgery to keep you in good health all b/c the issue was found earlier on in life and nothing was done at that time seems horribly wrong. That's not what health care or insurance should be about. If you are willing to buy the coverage, then insurance should cover it. Gosh knows, I pay into a insurance system that I barely use. Insurance companies won't go bankrupt any time soon. GET RID OF THE PREEXISTING CONDITION POLICY!FYI: I'd be more than happy to see Obamacare and the cronies that got it passed repealed and voted out of office.

You have a mind fix on the current system of health insurance. That system is the problem. Insurers are middlemen, they do absolutely nothing in caring for your health, but they demand your money and, thus, raise the cost of your health care. Before health insurance became the apparent standard for providing health care, one could see a doctor for about 10 dollars a visit. That was in the 1950's. Now, an office visit is anywhere between $ 100 ans $ 200 or more. The reason is as stated above, but also sets the stage for greedy doctors to take advantage, which they do. The bottom line is that we can't afford a health care system based on insurance except as support for catastrophies.@jackolantern

You think that is bad then try this one on for size. I am 66 and on medicare. Lets say all of a sudden I need medical care and if I don't get it I will die. First I have to have an interview to see what all is wrong with me, in other words to see if I am worth saving. Everything gets a number and is fed into a computer. Yes artificial intelligence will determine if I get to live or not. If you think that is not in Obama care you best think again because it is. There is only one thing that is going to bring down health care and medications and that is competition and lots of it. You pile on the competition and trust me there will be a company that will give you insurance when you have a preexisting condition, either that are they will go broke. @jackolantern

Bill, I am also on Medicare, have been for some time. I make no excuses for using a system that I have paid into, just as I make no excuses for accepting Social Security. I don't know where you live, or what experiences you have had with receiving health care through Medicare, but this past summer I experienced an intestinal blockage and the treatment and attention I received was first rate. Now, Obama's notion of stealing money from Medicare to fund his own socialist health care program is taking money from a system that works and wasting it on a system that won't work due to its size and the number of government bureaucrats that will be needed for administration. It takes the resources used to aid a relatively small population (those over 65) and spreads it among a much larger population. It is, therefore, a forced redistribution of wealth. Totalitarian in nature. Resources, I might add, that are not his to steal. I'm not sure how democrats can support a guy that is out to destroy a program that democrats have historically supported. @Bill Hawkings @jackolantern

Below, I discuss health care in terms of Health Savings Accounts and catastrophic health insurance. The major difference between that combination and the current system of health insurance is the same as between a democratic republic and a totalitarian government. The former offers freedom, the latter dependency.

What insurance company will provide you with any kind of health insurance knowing that you are a cancer patient? Under Obamacare, prior health conditions can't be held against you, and, I agree with that, but you don't need the entire package for your protection.

When I was a child growing up in rural GA we were poor and I don't mean half poor I mean dirt poor. We did not have the money to see a doctor. I remember getting an ear infection from swimming in the creek. I though I was going crazy with the pain until my ear drum ruptured. You should have seen what come out of my head. Now you talk about some feel goods when that sucker ruptured, I though I had been shot up with morphine. You get cut and I mean cut, you did not get stitches you got kerosene and a some what clean rag. You get a cold then suck it up. So what did that get me. It got me an immune system out of this world. I have only taken antibiotics twice in my entire life. I have few colds and I can never remember ever having the flu. Now days if some one sneezes they run to the doctor to get them some antibiotics which is killing the rest of the population. We waded the jungles of Vietnam pulling off leaches two inches long. Guys had diarrhea so bad you could not step off of the trail you were on because if you did you walked in crap. Those poor boys who had been pampered and carried to the doctors when young live a hard life over there and I mean hard. The ones who had not been so fortunate made it the best because they could and did deal with it. That got me some more immunity. No folks we just need to suck it up and stop running to the doctor every time we sneeze. Trust me it want kill you because if it did I would have been dead a long time back. :-) @starkst

This the only policy of Ron Paul i don't agree with.implement Universal Healthcare in US like the rest of the western world, it has been long over due. My British cousins see our country as backwards for paying for something that should be a god given birth right and for having a rising number of people without insurence (which means they cant get treated unless its a serious condition)

The problem with the kind of health care you advocate is that by making monthly payments for insurance to cover your health care, you are hiring a bureaucratic middlemen that stands between you the patient and your doctor and he doesn't come cheap. Not only does he sponge off of the patient/doctor relationship, but he also interferes with the patient doctor relationship. The middleman is, of course, the insurance company, and, while he interferes and pockets your money, he adds nothing whatever to your health care. The idea that I put forth below (using a combination of HSA and catastrophic health insurance) is to minimize the middleman and make your health care money spread further. Now, to compound the insurance felony, so to speak, what is commonly referred to as Obamacare adds an additional layer of bureaucrats (a.k.a. government workers) between the doctor and the patient and if you haven't noticed, they are extremely expensive making, on the average, almost twice the money as a private sector person that does the same job. @Mark84

@Mark84 The best thing we can do for our country is vote for Dr. Paul.

It's been proven in the past that government regulation only creates bureaucracies and raises the price of everything it touches. A free-market healthcare system would not only allow less invasive and more effective medicine on the market, but it would DRASTICALLY lower the price of pills by taking the government middleman out of the equation.

It appears that you assume that all illness and disease is self-inflicted and that we can choose to be impermeable to aforementioned. Either that, or you could care less about other peoples health. There are hospitals and homes filled with people that are ill due to no direct fault of their own. If you want to have society where we just step over the bodies of our fellow citizens, I'm sure there are still quite few Countries around that can provide this for you.

@kontiki the percentage of people with a condition that you talk about are very low, and their treatment could very wellbe taken care of through Medicare. What I don't like is when people go to the doctor for every little thing and also encourage their kids to do the same. If your child coughs that does not mean he has tuberculosis. Nor do I want to pay for someone else who might not need a certain test while there is someone who genuinely is sick and needs treatment. My grandfather is one of the healthiest men I know. He uses Medicare, and constantly complains how his doctors force tests on him, some tests they can't even fully explain what would look for.

This is the problem with letting government meddle in our healthcare. Their regulations only benefit the companies who are greedy and smart enough to influence the government. There are many smaller companies which provide much better treatment but are silenced by the FDA simply because it would hurt the profits of the bigger companies.

To conclude, in my personal opinion, if my wife had an unborn child who would have a deformity or some type of terminal illness, I would not hesitate to have it aborted. I wouldn't want to have it and I wouldn't want to put someone else in that position. That is just my opinion and I'm not suggesting that this should be the law of the land or anything.

Health care ought to be managed using three tools, with the first two tools, over time, resulting in the retirement of the third tool.

The first tool is a Health Savings Account (HSA). Like an IRA, one deposits money into the account each tax year. The amount of money one can deposit is determined by the number of people to be serviced by the account. Generally, the account is used to pay for every day health care bills for services rendered by a Doctor on behalf of a patient (one of the people being supported by the HSA), however, Doctor bills may be paid from any other means without tapping the funds in the HSA. The money contained in an HSA is contributed from one's gross pay and is, therefore, not taxed. Like an IRA, this money may be invested and rolled over each year. Over time, dependent on the health of the participants in the HSA, it, like an IRA, can accumulate a considerable amount of money. As each dependent participant in the HSA gains maturity, a separate HSA is created and funded proportionally from the parent HSA. An HSA accumulates money such that upon reaching retirement age, when a greater demand exists for health care support, the money, because it is in a user owned account, will be available when needed, independent of government interference.

The second tool is the only health insurance policy needed. It is for support in the event of a catastrophic health care event. It, therefore, does not support every day health care needs.

The third tool, is the existent Medicare, which will still be used for people already retired or soon to be retired. Over time, its requirement will be phased out as HSAs will satisfy the need.

Healthcare is big business at its' worse a a vicious cycle connected to entitlements. Many Americans like to pay for their healthcare, but without employment, they can not. Health of individuals are compromised and no access to health care maintenance is available - where do these people end up? On disability paid for by taxpayers. It is not their fault, but as long as healthcare profits take precedence over quality of care and insurance companies continue to behave unethically, the health care problem will only get worse. All insurance companies should be kicked to the curb and we need to come up with solid and effective alternatives to achieve a common goal - health care for everyone while everyone pays their fair share for that service.

Why don't we try this. Bring all of our troops home and close all foreign military bases. Now we use that train load of money we just saved to pay the doctors and the hospitals. Think that would work? Problem is our priorities are all screwed up. But we still do not need to forget about tons of competition. @KathyThorp

Healthcare should become available for all Americans because there are a lot of uninsured immigrants who are carrying over diseases which can harm the American population. Lacking of healthcare could lead people to suffer from serious sicknesses. Most people who are on life support get taking because they lacked Healthcare. The movie John Q exemplifies the true meaning of the healthcare system and how there are many people who do not have health care.

"Healthcare should become available for all Americans". Darn I like that. Now can you tell me how you would accomplish this? It is one thing to say it but it is entirely another thing to do it. Remember we are broke. If the interest rates rise to just 6% our economy will crash. The Democrats and Republicans have spent us white eyed. In July 2012 we will once again hit the debt wall. This time no amount of money printing will keep that line from going above the debt wall because this time it is structural. Interest rates are going to climb and uncle Ben will not be able to hold them down. With our mountain of debt interest rates will kill off what is left of our economy. The housing market will once again fall, unemployment will rise, the dollar will loose more of its value and inflation will rise even further. When this happen you will be lucky to be able to buy a bottle of aspirin. Right now our most important issue is doing as Dr. Paul says, cut one trillion the first year and balance the budget in three, We can only do that by bringing our troops home and closing those foreign military bases. If we do not do this then you can completely forget about health care because it is going to be your least problem. People have to understand that we are sitting atop a ticking time bomb and we best address it right now by electing Ron Paul. @quen10

The true reality is that government intervention in healthcare has counter-intuitively driven up the costs of medical attention and the cost of medical insurance. Compare the costs of medical treatments not covered by health insurance, such as laser eye surgery, and you will see that the costs have consistently gone down over time. The free market dictates that companies cannot charge the maximum amount for care. Contrast these prices to the dramatically increasing prices of treatments covered by insurance and government mandate. Though the intention is good in involving the government in healthcare, the results are disastrous. All too often, people do not distinguish intention vs results. The government, via subsidization and regulation, has created growing medical industries of uncharitable bureaucracy. These corporate special interests have disturbingly embedded themselves in with the government bureaucrats in an incestuous marriage, in which we have the wolves tending to the sheep. The corporate special interests lobby for regulations that allow for government-enabled and even government-mandated monopolies. The first director of the American Cancer Society, Clarence Cook Little, resigned in 1954 to become the Scientific Director of the Tobacco Industry Research Council. That move was chillingly convenient for the tobacco industry. “Cut, Poison, Burn” is the video that details just how corrupt one of the most government-trusted agencies in America, the American Cancer Society, has become. They have facilitated monopolization of cancer treatment and stifled innovation. Google it. Let’s remember how Reagan so inspiringly stated, “Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem.”

People we can sit here and cry all day long but that is not going to fix anything. We as a country are flat out broke. We have dumped our money into foreign conflicts until there is not more money. And we have had dead beats living off of the system for decades. Don't tell me that we don't because I see them every day. We have crooked politicians running out of our ears. If we do not elect this man who can fix this mess none of us will have any health insurance, and you can forget S/S. Bottom line the system is broke and it has to be fixed now. When the world hits the debt wall then health insurance will be our least problem. See you can not understand that the game is all over for us. When you run out you are out and we have run out. If we go with one more status quo politician then we are doomed for sure. Do you know that the Federal Reserve is leveraged 51:1 and if they loose just 2% of their assets they will belly up. We are sitting on a ticking time bomb and we best get some one like Ron Paul in office and fast. If we do not then we will not have to worry about health insurance because there will plenty of other things for us to worry about.

How would you react if someone would cancel your health insurance, claiming it would guarntee HIM a better access to doctors?

You obviously do not understand what Ron Paul is saying. Health care cost is out of sight in this country. Drugs cost are out of sight in this country. Something has to be done to bring those cost down. No one is buying my drugs and if I have to go to the doctor, medicare pays hardly anything and the lousy supplementary insurance will hardly pay anything. How about we get the chance to purchase health insurance across state lines. That along would drive down cost.. Ron Paul says if you have to go to the emergency room you will not be turned down. I have never seen any one turned away from an emergency room because they were broke. Lets you and I face it, you and I can no longer live off of the government, like it or not.

By the way Obama has already canceled the Health Insurance of the elderly so welcome to the party.

There is NOTHING more valuable or important as your health. Not our debt, not our foreign relations, not our GDP. If you don't have your health, you have nothing. That's why premiums need to be regulated if the only fiscally affordable way to assure your health is insurance- health is THE highest commodity, next to time.

Mr Paul i like some of your views but i dislike other views you have on health care. from what i have read here and seen in your videos you want to apply regans trickle down plan to healthcare and in a world that has morals and care for his fellow man your plan would and should work but we do not live in that world. let me give a example that will back me up but also you up in a way. i have a rare disease i did not get this from a bad lifestyle or being irresponsible with my health it was passed down should i be punished for this. the drug company that makes the only fda approved drug for this disease 3 years ago when it was made by another company a treatment cost 250 then that company sold it to this bigger company and in 3 years they have raised it to 2000 per treatment where is the morals there. you talk of the good old days my grand mother died at 32 in the good old days she could not afford healthcare and no one was giving it away. so your theory that some group or doctor will do the moral thing is sadly not going to happen the result of this plan will get 1000 of dead USA citizens adventually i agree it will work but it will take time generations and the price will be dead mothers fathers sisters and our own children. if you could adjust your plan for a interim program to take care of citizens healthcare until this plan takes hold i would agree with you. i am sure my sole voice means no more to you then it does to Obama and i backed Obama.

Everything should be done to break their backs. I think a good president would do everything within his power to crush these corrupt companies along with our blood sucking money grabbing politicians. I would go over that company with a magnifying glass and you best not let me find one miserable politician connected to them like Newt, you know the one who sucked off $30 million from the health care industry. I would throw that scumbag so far back into a jail cell you would have to shoot peas to him with a gun. We need to let these guys out of jail who got caught with a sack of pot and make room for these blood suckers. @MikeWiding

@dariusjjohnson I know, I really wish our nation would do away with the two party system, I believe it weakens our nation's chance for finding the most qualified person. It's sad that a person trying to run for the office of presidency has to have so much money behind him in order to even have a glimpse at running. I watched an interesting program on ETV about Abraham Lincoln and he was broke when he ran for his first senate position. When he won he said,"Well I guess I need to get a job" because the senate position didn't pay money, like it does today, it seems like back then it was an honor to serve as an elected official. That's when he began studying law and apparently had a law practice until he became president.

I think I have just had a bout with reality. I though that the American people would wake up and elect Ron Paul but last night I watched him on Fox and I realized that he does not have a fine head of hair along with a big set of white teeth and he has a bad habit of telling the truth, also he is not the best speaker in the world, something which all the other candidates do have. So without some miracle he will not make it. Also 80 percent of the voters do not like his border fence deal along with his stance on Iran. But personally I could care less about the border issue or the Iranian issue because these two things pale in comparison with our debt issue, the one thing which will take us out for sure. Paul is the only candidate who truly understands this issue and he is the only candidate who would address it in such away that he would have a very good chance at fixing the mess we are in. So the old man who tells the truth, who does not have the big head of hair, a big set of pearly white teeth and who stammers when he speaks will not make it. But one day in the near future and I would say in less than three years all of the American people will realize that they missed the best chance they ever had to elect the one person who could have fixed this country and they passed it buy. But then it is going to be to late because our currency will have failed as the world reserve currency, big banks will have folded up, 401k's will be wiped out, we will have rioting in the streets like we have never seen before and we will become a third rate country, but we will have our boy with the big head of hair with the big set of white teeth and the one who can spout bull with the best of them, the only deal is we will no longer have the country that we once had. After the fall can we come back and will we come back? I think so but not without some major pain, something that we could have avoided. I guess it just boils down to one thing and that is, some times you have to slap a guy real hard up side his head in order to get his attention. I sure hope I am wrong about all of this but my best guess is, we are about to get that slap up side our heads and it is not going to be fun. There is one thing for sure, and that is, we will truly be over the big head of hair and the pearly white teeth by the time it all plays out. So will I still vote for Ron Paul? Sure I will but as of now I am signing off because I know exactly where we are headed and outside of praying there is nothing else I can do. So take some good advice, keep your money out of the big banks, buy you some gold or silver and load up on ammo because you are truly going to need it. Just remember we are spending $114,000 per second of ever day and it is going on a credit card and that my friends spells doom anyway you want to cut it.

I'm trying to educate myself about the different health care plans available. I like Ron Paul's plan better than Obama's because Obama's just continues to subsidize insurance companies with tax money. But I just read about the Green Party's single-payer program, which does not further crony capitalism. http://electionsmeter.com/arguments/thegreens/4472 Any thoughts? opinions?

We have the single payer system in Canada- and at first it looks good, but we are now facing a severe doctor shortage as they are underpaid here. For example, I developed severe joint pain in my left knee, enough for me to worry about it being arthritic, and I'm still waiting for a doctor's appointment after 2 months. I'm going to end up going to a private clinic to get it checked out, which is technically illegal here, but the government does nothing to stop it. Yes, it costs a good bit to get this done, but I'd rather pay to get my treatment now rather than wait on it, potentially indefinitely.

They do not want to take the tough road that Ron suggest, which is the only road to take. If you do not take his road then kiss your ass good by. I am tired of all this shit. Ron Paul has the only and I mean the only path to restore this country. If you take any other path your ass is going to be cooked. Think not. Then hell give it a try and see what you get. I simply do not give a rats ass any more. I will load up the five AK's I have and wait on the big deal which is coming. To Micahbronkell.

Though i hate addressing people who clearly don't want to look at something with an open mind, because it leads nowhere I will do so any way.

You proved that Ron Paul would do a better job as president a few times in your post, though you may not have known it. You stated "How is The Liberator suppose to lower anything most of the Healthcare Industry is controlled by the Rich." Well if you read (comprehended) Dr. Paul's position on Healthcare, then you would be aware that his position would help the poorer americans who at the moment can't afford it. I won't bother restating any of this information because you can do that for yourself, but be forewarned don't expect to get any of congressman Paul's information from the television or newspapers, because those super rich corporations that you speak of (the ones who paid for President Obama's first Campaign and this one) keep him in silence due to the fact that he is a "Liberator" as you so eloquently put it.

As or being poor in america. You should keep in mind that many immigrants from around the world have helped build our country in someway struggling through incredible hardships. And it would be wise to understand that 150k for a family in this country is not rich (though the elitist would want you to think that). It is true that the rich have control over our country, and those rich people have wealth unimaginable to you and I, and many of them are the top contributers to Obama (who he worked then worked for early on in his presidency, i.e. Wall Street.)

It is clearly visible in any of Ron Paul's Political agenda, history, opinions that he only works for the people of this country, You and I. --A libertarians view is that each person has the right to live his life in any way he chooses so long as he respects the equal rights of others.-- This is Ron Paul's belief as a former Libertarian and as libertarian at heart. If that doesn't sound like freedom to you Micahbronkell then Im a bit concerned about the "crazies" who would think Dr. Ron Paul wouldn't be more qualified than President Obama in choosing a Healthcare plan.

Oh and just to add on, Obama makes 400 thou a year, our taxes pay for his kids to eat and for his wife's thousand dollar dresses. Ron Pauls first agenda as president, cutting his salary to $39,336 a year, well beyond your $150k a year "rich" families.

What I don't like about Obamacare (or our present pre-paid managed care system) is it makes money for the insurance companies. The bulk of the money for health care should go to the care givers, not to insurance companies. Insurance companies are one of the main sources of our economic woes. I would like to go back to the old days, when we paid out-of-pocket for most health care costs and bought very low cost insurance against catastrophes only. Ron Paul wants to eliminate the HMO monopolies, deregulate insurance and lower health care costs. Obamacare is just another scheme to get more money in the hands of the 1%.

I did read it and the future Liberator in Chief has no numbers or no plan on paper to present to Congress on how to make this better. he does not have to be President to accomplished this that's why must republicans and tea crazies who are in the house and senate or full of bull-crap they don't have to be president to reform healthcare the third time over to make it better for the wealthy and harder for the people who don't make a lot of money but slave at a job any way and get paid slave wages.. How is The Liberator suppose to lower anything most of the Healthcare Industry is controlled by the Rich and Corporation and is a private business do you really think that these greedy Insurance companies are about to listen to Ron Paul or any Government. It's about the money and all ways will be about the money. Any program the the future Liberator in Chief tries to change for the people want work if it means to cut millions and billions of dollars out of the greedy rich peoples hand . Believe what you want. that is why the Tea Party wants lesser Government to protect the Rich. as soon that happens the Rich and the Big Corporations will have there way with the poor

@micahbronkell One thing for sure most of the people on here are trying to do something about the mess this country is in by electing Ron Paul. Ron Paul is an honest man and that I am sure of. The one we have in the oval office now is no more than a cheap con artist who in my opinion is not legally qualified to hold that office.

You fix things by throwing congressmen and senators out of office when you vote. You do not fix things by doing as you do and that is to sit around and bitch and complain. You talk about poor, you don't even know the meaning of the word. I can tell you about poor but I do not have the time nor the space here to do that. Let's just say I was born poor and I grew up poor but one thing for sure I never sat around and cried every one a river because of it. I got off of my rear end and I did something about it. This is still a great country and we will fix it with honest people like Ron Paul. Here is my suggestion for you. Since it appears to me that you were not born in this country then if I were you and were so displeased with this country I would gather up my crap and go back to the wonderful place I was hatched. Quit bitching and do something, either that or go back to were you come from.I have no time for cry babies.

Please let me take the time to tell you what your problem is. You have an absolute hard on for anyone who has done good in this country. What you want is communism and a socialist state. If you want that take a trip to Russia. I just bet your rear end will come running back like a deer running from a fire storm. What you really want is to divide the wealth. Well that is not the way it works in this country. See in this country we give you the opportunity to better your self. Can you do that in this country? I did and so did millions of others. By the way I was born in this country in 1945. I never took a shower inside until I entered the military. I crapped in the freaking woods until I was eighteen years old. I wore rags to school. We had something different to eat each day, pinto beans and potatoes one day and potatoes and pinto beans the next day. And if we did not grow us some potatoes we had no potatoes. You actually went to an emergency room? Friend I never seen a doctor until I went through basic training in the military. If we got cut real bad or if you stepped on a rusty nail you pored Kerosene on it and you went about your business. But there is one thing we did not do. We never wanted one dime from anyone else. We were to proud. If we got it we worked for it, either that or we done without. I would suggest you do the same or go home.

Here is the deal if you work for your money and you earn it honestly then it is your money. It is your money to do with as you see fit. You my friend have no right to take that money. So why is this country so screwed up? It is because of cry babies like you.

Obama is the solution , the rest of you complaining and blaming Obama for this mess are apart of the problem. what mess this mess was started by a republican and will be cleaned up by Obama.. and poor . to your poor statement . My family was so poor when we got white bread we thought it was CAKE!!!! that is how poor my family was growing up . shower we did not have running water we had to walk five miles into town just to get fresh water. and beg Mighty Whitey for the scraps off of his table so don't preach poor to me cause at one time my people were considered lower than dogs. the Massa dog or the Boss's dog were treated better than we were. I got called nigger so much I thought it was my second name. and yet Congress every 50 or so years passes a civil rights bill so my people will have rights in the USA . So don't preach poor cause we were not poor to me. My ancestors and people help build this land and still have to fight for our rights in this God forsaken country. Which are God given rights. we were lower than poor, we were from the Gutter cause that is how the white man treated us back then.

Will be cleaned up by Obama. Do me a favor and feel of you head and see if you are running a fever. Obama has spent more that all over presidents combined on his stimulus deals and what has it got us? In case you do not know it has got us absolutely noting. Jimmy Carter no longer has to worry about being the worst president because he has now been replaced by Obama. @micahbronkell

          @micahbronkell Ahh yea, ok.

"that is how the white man treated us back then." Hence the words "back then".

I have never owned a slave, I have never called anyone a nigger and have never treated any human as less then a dog.

Obama is no different then Bush, Clinton, Perry, Romney or Cain.

They are ALL bought and payed for by corporations.

Ron Paul is the answer and when you start judging people by their character and not the color of their skin (a great man said this) then we all will be better off, black, white and every color in between.

I absolutely have no problem with letting your sorry ass starve to death. Vote Ron Paul 2012.@kenwcreative @micahbronkell

And you are 100% right. If more people would pay attention to Paul we would all be a lot better off. One day people will realize just how smart the man is but I am afraid it will then be to late. A crying shame. At least there are some of who realize just how smart he really is. @VictoriaN.Alexander

Do the math:30 million more people on Obamacare + no new doctors = Healt care rationing and death panels for the chronically ill, the elderly and the mentally ill. Obama has to pay for this some how and he will do it by killing my ass if I am over 65 and end up with cancer.

The underlying method of cutting cost throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care to the elderly. The plan is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting cost know to man.

The rationing of care is implemented through the National Health Care Board. This illustrious board will decide if you die or live if you are 65 or over. Now if any one thinks this is a lie then I would advise them to read the freaking thing. It can be found on line.

I will take my chance with Ron Paul.

I would not trust Obama in an outhouse with a muzzle on. He needs to go straight to jail. I may not know just how to fix our health care situation but I know there is a better way that the one the dictator has chosen for the elderly. I can not even stand to look at that guy any more.

So remember if you turn 65 and you come down with something that is going to cost big bucks then did you a hole because you are going to need one. But see this does not bother Obama or the other politicians because they have enough money to burn a wet Elephant and good health insurance on top of it.

there you go being critical of the Obamacare bill and if you were was a congressman ,woman or senator. why not bring a bill equal to Obamacare or better. Health insurrance for every one is so bad. whatever!!!!! Tea Craizes and the so called Liberator Ron Paul has not brought one Healthcare bill that is better than Obama's .

Your Liberator Ron Paul and all his followers and the Tea Crazies and the Republicans are apart of the problem not the solution!! At least Obama is trying when the rest are complaining.

I dont agree with everything in Obamacare but since everyone will be afforded to get health coverage for a reasonable fee or no fee why get mad.. and why do the repubs and the Tea Crazies want to end this bill. they have not brought out one bill equal or better than Obama's bill. the same in the American Jobs Act they have not given the people one bill or a bill better than his. And they keep complaining about small government. From a statement a past president said who is dead and gone and is heaven enjoying God's pleasures. Ronald Reagan cannot help us anymore..

Have you ever asked yourself the question" who pays for my free health care?"

Medicaid which falls under Health Care costs the state and federal governments more many then any other program aside from education. Under Obamacare the ability for someone to recieve medicaid will become even easier. That is going to increase deficits even more. With a growing deficit this will not help america as a whole.

Please try to view the bigger picture that people have got to take responsibility for their own health. We can't keep expecting government to pay for everything. Beginning with health care.

We as a nation of people must claim responsibility for our individual lives.

I was once able to visit the magnificent country Guinea. A man named Mohammed said to me, "I would love to go to school in America, it is the land of opportunity."

Trust me nothing is free. Some one some where is going to have to pay for it. Why do they not let people buy health care across state lines? Do that and watch the cost come down. I am 66 and I have checked out Obama Health Care and we the seniors are toast. But that's OK we are old and worth nothing. I would advise any one to read that thing before you jump all over it. @micahbronkell

Why are we complaining? Because he is going to toast me, over 65, to save you. Now I hope a way can be found to cover every one but this is not the way to do it. How about letting people cross state lines to purchase health care. That is just one way to drop the price and quick. It is called competition. Now you may not agree with me but when you turn 65 let's see if you agree then. Heck dude I like to breath just like you do. @micahbronkell

The Affordable Care Act, President Obama's health-care overhaul passed by Congress last year, was designed to make it easier for Americans in situations like Verone's to get health insurance BTW check "Penny Health" for more information

Who would Ron Paul appoint as Supreme Court Justice and woulld that keep currently held judgement that Corporations are individuals? This is an extremely important question as the Supreme Court has the last say on what laws are "legally permissable".

Why every one knows that will work. One guy becomes a iron worker hanging from a 200 story building while risking his life and another guy is sitting on a stool tasting cakes and they both receive the same pay. Sure that will work, I just know it. Am I going to go to college or trade school while another guy lays on his butt and sucks up beer to be paid the same as him? I don't think so. Any one who believes this is just down right stupid.@micahbronkell

@micahbronkell OMG Micahbronkell, I thought that was a joke, then I realized you were serious!! Why should my husband leave his wife and children to go work his tail off to support people like you? People who have ambition to make something for themselves deserve to keep all of their money. Let me ask you this.....in your plan, where would the ambition and drive to work come from? It would be utter chaos. Think!!
