Health Care

In these United States of America, many people cannot afford even basic health insurance. They suffer severely under the present system and have to live under the constant fear of not knowing what they will do if they or their loved ones ever fall seriously ill.

But in many cases, insured individuals aren’t much better off either. In comparison to the exorbitant insurance premiums they pay, the medical care they receive is often very poor.

Additionally, due to the government-enforced monopolies of HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) and pharmaceutical companies, many patients will never even hear about some of the most effective and non-invasive treatment methods. These natural and inexpensive ways of regaining one’s health are being suppressed by the FDA and the medical establishment not because of safety concerns (they’ve been around for hundreds of years), but because they cannot be patented and would therefore cut into the pharmaceutical industry’s profits.

The current system is most definitely broken, and it must eventually be abolished if we want to regain both our health and our freedom.

But Obamacare is the worst possible answer. All it does is perpetuate a flawed system by forcing everyone to become a client of insurance companies, even those who don’t want to or need to participate.

Why should anyone be forced to subsidize the medical care of others? Very few individuals would personally assault their neighbors at gunpoint and steal thousands of dollars to pay for their own medical needs. How could any freedom loving person agree to delegate such criminal acts to the government by supporting a compulsory health insurance system?

There is only one solution that will lead to true health and true freedom: making health care more affordable. Ron Paul believes that only true free market competition will put pressure on the providers and force them to lower their costs to remain in business. Additionally, Ron Paul wants to change the tax code to allow individual Americans to fully deduct all health care costs from their taxes.

Through these measures and the elimination of government-sponsored health care monopolies a much larger number of people will be able to finally access affordable health care, either by paying for medical insurance or by covering their medical expenses, which are now much lower, out of their own pocket.

As for the poor and the severely ill who can neither obtain insurance nor pay for the medical care they need, Ron Paul offers the following solution in his bookThe Revolution: A Manifesto“:

In the days before Medicare and Medicaid, the poor and elderly were admitted to hospitals at the same rate they are now, and received good care. Before those programs came into existence, every physician understood that he or she had a responsibility towards the less fortunate and free medical care was the norm. Hardly anyone is aware of this today, since it doesn’t fit into the typical, by the script story of government rescuing us from a predatory private sector.

Illegal aliens already receive de-facto free health care. Why can’t poor Americans have the same… not as a right, but as a charitable benefit provided by doctors who feel a personal responsibility for their fellow citizens?

Unfortunately, the current medical monopoly corrupts many doctors by rewarding practices that are not in the patients’ best interest. Pharmaceutical companies have a vested interest in not curing people, but getting them permanently addicted to expensive drugs that have many side effects, thereby requiring additional drugs to suppress those side effects. Many doctors are afraid to speak up and question the system for fear of being ostracized by their peers or even losing their license.

Under a liberated health care system prices would come down and additional options would become available, thereby making health care much more affordable. Moral corruption would give way to true compassion, and many doctors would remember their implicit obligation to provide free medical care to those in need, just like they did in the past.

As a medical doctor, Ron Paul swore the Hippocratic Oath many decades ago. His entire person and career is a monument to the beauty and sanctity of human life. Ron Paul knows that life without health can be very difficult and is not what it was meant to be. He has personally cared for the poor for many years, without asking anything in return.

The government’s original role is to protect our freedoms and restrain itself from causing too much harm. Ron Paul is working to prevent greedy bureaucrats, opportunist politicians and corrupt pharmaceutical companies from having any sort of unhealthy influence over our bodies and minds.

Join the Ron Paul Revolution and help us put the federal government back where it belongs: to Washington DC and out of our daily lives.

Transcript:

Government has been mismanaging medical care for more than 45 years; for every problem it has created it has responded by exponentially expanding the role of government.

Points to consider:

  1. No one has a right to medical care. If one assumes such a right, it endorses the notion that some individuals have a right to someone else’s life and property. This totally contradicts the principles of liberty.
  2. If medical care is provided by government, this can only be achieved by an authoritarian government unconcerned about the rights of the individual.
  3. Economic fallacies accepted for more than 100 years in the United States has deceived policy makers into believing that quality medical care can only be achieved by government force, taxation, regulations, and bowing to a system of special interests that creates a system of corporatism.
  4. More dollars into any monopoly run by government never increases quality but it always results in higher costs and prices.
  5. Government does have an important role to play in facilitating the delivery of all goods and services in an ethical and efficient manner.
  6. First, government should do no harm. It should get out of the way and repeal all the laws that have contributed to the mess we have.
  7. The costs are obviously too high but in solving this problem one cannot ignore the debasement of the currency as a major factor.
  8. Bureaucrats and other third parties must never be allowed to interfere in the doctor/patient relationship.
  9. The tax code, including the ERISA laws, must be changed to give everyone equal treatment by allowing a 100% tax credit for all medical expenses.
Laws dealing with bad outcomes and prohibiting doctors from entering into voluntary agreements with their patients must be repealed. Tort laws play a significant role in pushing costs higher, prompting unnecessary treatment and excessive testing. Patients deserve the compensation; the attorneys do not.
  10. Insurance sales should be legalized nationally across state lines to increase competition among the insurance companies.
  11. Long-term insurance policies should be available to young people similar to term-life insurances that offer fixed prices for long periods of time.
  12. The principle of insurance should be remembered. Its purpose in a free market is to measure risk, not to be used synonymously with social welfare programs. Any program that provides for first-dollar payment is no longer insurance. This would be similar to giving coverage for gasoline and repair bills to those who buy car insurance or providing food insurance for people to go to the grocery store. Obviously, that could not work.
  13. The cozy relationship between organized medicine and government must be reversed.
Early on medical insurance was promoted by the medical community in order to boost re-imbursements to doctors and hospitals. That partnership has morphed into the government/insurance industry still being promoted by the current administration.
  14. Threatening individuals with huge fines by forcing them to buy insurance is a boon to the insurance companies.
  15. There must be more competition for individuals entering into the medical field. Licensing strictly limits the number of individuals who can provide patient care. A lot of problems were created in 20th century as a consequence the Flexner Report (1910), which was financed by the Carnegie Foundation and strongly supported by the AMA. Many medical schools were closed and the number of doctors was drastically reduced. The motivation was to close down medical schools that catered to women, minorities and especially homeopathy. We continue to suffer from these changes which were designed to protect physician’s income and promote allopathic medicine over the more natural cures and prevention of homeopathic medicine.
  16. We must remove any obstacles for people seeking holistic and nutritional alternatives to current medical care. We must remove the threat of further regulations pushed by the drug companies now working worldwide to limit these alternatives.

True competition in the delivery of medical care is what is needed, not more government meddling.

Came across this article by Atul Gawande in The New Yorker, "The Cost Conundrum: What a Texas Town Can Teach Us About Healthcare". Well worth the read.

For me, it provided another perspective in the debate and showcased a disappointing trend - physician revenue streams at the expense of patient care.

"Activists and policymakers spend an inordinate amount of time arguing about whether the solution to high medical costs is to have government or private insurance companies write the checks. Here’s how this whole debate goes. Advocates of a public option say government financing would save the most money by having leaner administrative costs and forcing doctors and hospitals to take lower payments than they get from private insurance. Opponents say doctors would skimp, quit, or game the system, and make us wait in line for our care; they maintain that private insurers are better at policing doctors. No, the skeptics say: all insurance companies do is reject applicants who need health care and stall on paying their bills. Then we have the economists who say that the people who should pay the doctors are the ones who use them. Have consumers pay with their own dollars, make sure that they have some “skin in the game,” and then they’ll get the care they deserve. These arguments miss the main issue. When it comes to making care better and cheaper, changing who pays the doctor will make no more difference than changing who pays the electrician. The lesson of the high-quality, low-cost communities is that someone has to be accountable for the totality of care. Otherwise, you get a system that has no brakes." - Atul Gawande

The decision to require medical treatment anywhere for anybody is what should be challenged. What happened to public health facilities the uninsured could go to ? These facilities were once staffed by volunteers. My grandfather was an M.D. He had a regular practice in St. Louis, Mo. Monday through Friday. Every Saturday he traveled to Prairie du Rocher Illinios to treat his charity patients there. These poor farmers would pay him with bushels of produce in payment for his house calls and medicine. He practiced from 1904 to 1962 and died at age 79. Back then, hospitals were owned by churches and religious orders, who received donations from wills and wealthy doners. During the 1970s, these hospitals were sold to for profit healthcare companies. That was the end of affordable healthcare. Today Dentists continue to treat charity patients. They charge them a much reduced rate and take payments over time. Requiring the uninsured to pay into our current healthcare scheme would be the act of a police state.

We have people/politicians in charge who are not balanced in their thinking and decision-making, so the results of their decisions lead to imbalance.

Printing money out of thin air, causing inflation recessions and depressions, the IRS collecting money for the FED to do whatever they will with it, the IRS taking an enormous amount of money from the citizens, money that could be put to better use in caring for ourselves and our families, laws that do not inhibit health insurance companies from making the decisions concerning patient care instead of the doctors who are the real experts, corruption in the banking system, corporations, and in government all contribute to the imbalance and dis-empowerment of population to be as financially responsible as they would like to be.

If they had as their main goal "to create a country where it is easy for citizens to cover their own basic needs" (instead of difficult or impossible), then every other decision leading to it would need to contribute to this end goal. We would have a much healthier and happier society and, ironically, need less health care as a result. The worry, stress and turmoil stemming from the rampant corruption and not being able to cover even our basic needs creates dis-ease in the mind and body. Wouldn't the most of us prefer to have a society of healthy, mentally stable, happy neighbors?

War upon war creates turmoil, increase in health care. The latest Iraq totals from http://www.michaelmoore.com website (who happens to have a new movie coming out soon...see the trailer)

    June 14, 2009
    U.S. MILITARY DEATHS (IRAQ): 4313
    U.S. MILITARY WOUNDED (IRAQ): 31327
    IRAQI CIVILIAN DEATHS: 151000
    'EXCESS' IRAQI DEATHS: 655000

That's shocking to me. When will we value life?

American muslims can cheat, lie, steal and even kill other americans according to the koran if they are involved in jehad.Allah does not see this as a sin...after all its holy war and no wrong can be done(to non-believer) during holy war. I would like to think that most physicians would be charitable and compassionate towards the poor and would provide free care to them. However, I am a medical student and many interns/residents I am friends with have one common complaint about the proposed health care plan. It's not the restriction of the type of care they can provide or any type of philosophical opposition. Their complaint is that they won't make the same amount of money as they do now. Their point is that they have loans that need to be paid off and such, but it's funny how this is not enough of a concern for them to join the National Health Service Corps to have these loans at least partially paid off. Now though I am of a different political persuasion, I believe Dr. Paul is sincere in wanting to bring about change to the health care system. However, I have a hard time envisioning a health care policy that completely relies on the good nature of physicians to provide health care to the poor/underserved. It is precisely a lack of altruism that has prompted the call for nationalized health care for a century now. Despite physicians like Dr. Paul working for the greater good, there has been and continues to be a great deal of elitism in medicine that cannot be overcome without some sort of consequence for those who do not provide care to the underserved.

On the topic of forced nationalization, a major argument against is that many will not receive the services they need in a timely manner. However, the presumption is that this does not happen now in the US, but this is certainly not true. Many now are dying here because they do not have access to adequate health care and many more have chronic disease that could have been prevented with regular access to a primary care physician. These people are now suffering, though, because they could not afford early treatment. Of course it is naive to think that no one will fall through the cracks in any type of health care system. But with a nationalized system, far, far fewer fall through these cracks than with a totally private system.

Thank you, Luis, for a well-thought comment. I appreciate your "insider" perspective.

At the rate that more and more people are unable to afford health care, and college fees are escalating, it does not take a genius to realize that altruistic intentions will not pay the bills. Our society cannot support a gov't mandated system where insurance companies, HMO's and pharmaceutical industries are not included in the discussion. So far it seems the burden for change is to be carried by the care-givers and their clients. Seems a bit off-balance to me.

yes luis more govt.nonsense will help...like the post office and social security and the military and the thousands of other things the govt has succeeded in making better????ooooppps there aren't any/ are there? Not one single thing washington has become involved in to "help the people" has helped and in most cases they have destroyed...read the founding documents..they specify that private citizens and only private citizens should have certain rights...but you believe even more power in the hands of some men over all men is a good thing??? god and nature demand that those who work hard and earn there food and housing will be the most succesfull...in nature a squirrel that does not save his nuts starves in the winter..so future generations of squirrels do not make that mistake...gods law for all creatures cannot be revoked no matter how hard anyone tries...if one man has worked harder than another does he NOT have the right to pay for better health care?? if one man has a gift for surgery should he not have the right to be compensated for his gift?

G, you make it sound as if the USPS, Social Security, and of all things the US Military are a detriment to our country. Saying the military has not made our lives better and safer is just silly and I won't comment any further on that. Social security has helped hundreds of thousands if not millions of people since its introduction. Granted it does not have the same impact today as it did in the '30s and '40s, but to say it has not made many lives better is untrue. And imagine the cost of trying to deliver a letter yourself across the country for less than $0.42. UPS and FedEx can't compete with that.

But now to the bulk of your claim. Your first argument is that shifting power over all people into the hands of a few is not a good thing, and in most cases you would be correct. However, as it relates to health care, this shift in control over one's health care has already occurred and is currently in the hands of CEO's and executive boards of private insurance companies. And since this is a private corporation, there is no way for the public to scrutinize how health care is handled by them (pre-existing conditions, which procedures are covered, etc.) However, with some sort of government option, we the public will have a say in how our health care will be handled by this option. It will be part of the public record and we can have a real debate about what should/should not be covered, how certain situations are handled, how much doctor's should be compensated, etc.

Now to your next point about comparing the procurement of health care to squirrels gathering nuts. When one really takes a look at what you're saying, you essentially advocate letting the poor simply perish if they develop a preventable but life-threatening disease. There are plenty of people who work damn hard at their job but get very little compensation because it is unskilled work. Why don't they deserve health care? And even in the skilled labor market, there are many who work tirelessly for decades at their company but are let go due to the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. If this person is 50, he is too young for Medicare. Since he made a decent salary when he was let go, he is "too rich" for Medicaid. If he's already been diagnosed with hypertension and high cholesterol, any insurance he purchases will likely not cover his medications or follow-up visits to his physician(s). Why does he not deserve health care?

When it comes right down to it your argument basically advocates eugenics, that is those who get disease and do not have adequate funds should be left to die. In the animal kingdom, this is certainly a fact of life. However, if you believe that we are created in God's image (and I assume you follow some sort of Judeo-Christian religion by your wording, but if not, my apologies...), one of His overwhelming charateristics that was given to us as well is the capacity for compassion and to help and cooperate with those around us. This means lending a hand to someone when they cannot do so themselves, either as an altruistic gesture or because that other person possesses a quality/skill that is of benefit to you/your family/your community which can only be utilized when you use your ability to help with his shortcoming. All cultures, and I repeat ALL cultures, are based on this premise and this is the only way we've become such a great society today.

Finally, you submit that if a man makes more money that he should have the right to buy better health care. This is one argument about which I completely agree with you. However, your asking this question shows a lack of understanding about the current proposals. The legislation on the table does not call for all private insurers to close up shop and head home. Instead, the government becomes a competitive entity in the health care marketplace with other insurers still able to remain in business if they choose to do so. If the government can provide comparable service at a fraction of the cost, though, why shouldn't this be an option? And if one who makes more money believes that he would be better served with private insurance, he can. There is no proposed legislation banning him from doing so. And to your very last point, a surgeon should have the right to be compensated for his talent, but as his talent is a service, why should he not be subject to normal market forces? If there is a public option, it is true that many surgeons may receive a lower salary that when performing that service for a private insurer. However, that surgeon can choose to exclusively see only those with private insurance, but if there is not enough work when dealing with only these patients, then his bottom line is still better served by seeing those who have government insurance.

What would really reduce our health care costs?
What would really improve the lives of all Americans?

What we need is the FDA to do its job!
Keep our food safe for consumption.
Farmers, keep the harmful chemicals out of our food distribution.

Clean up our water and our air. It's ridiculous that we have to buy water, on top of paying for a water bill!
Politicians: Take care of our problems at home. We have plenty enough waiting your attention!

    Stress and fear cause illnesses!
We need the government to alleviate the stress upon American households:
End the wars, bring the soldiers home, end the many military bases around the world, and stop using America to police the world. Bring peace by being peaceful and friendly with the rest of the world.
When we say we are pro-life, we mean it, even after they turn 18! Value life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

End the FED/IRS, the great robbery of American's hard earned paychecks so we can be self-sufficient and take care of ourselves and our families (a lot less governmental turmoil and involvement in our lives). Stop manipulating and interfering in our lives so we can live the good life, the American Dream.
Stop trying to do away with the middle class....make all class meaningless. We are all humans (around the world).
Go back in time to when home loans were performed with a friendly relationship with our honest neighborhood banks/lenders.
Go back to the financial standards to qualify for home loans. It worked.
Stop printing money and running up the American deficit! Stop devaluing our hard earned dollars!
Go back to operating our government by the guidelines in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights!
Quit scaring us with the threat of mandatory vaccines that cause more harm to our bodies and treating us like human guinea pigs!
Stop creating fear in the minds of ordinary Americans!
Punish those who do harm to Americans via illegal and immoral monetary and business practices!
Punish past presidents who have led us down the wrong path, clue (oil mongers and fascists). Put them on trial and expose them for who they really are.
Punish those who have operated the FED/IRS that has led to the downfall of America!
Allow the free market to return so our economy will once again work for all Americans.
Get rid of NAFTA. Have friendly trade with other countries, but we don't need NAFTA.
Stop the distribution of so many harmful prescription drugs!
Be big on natural health care information and cover payments/treatments give by natural health care providers!

    Here's a big one...
All those self-serving politicians need to immediately leave public service and be replaced by honest citizens who are not in it for self interests and who listen and are in touch with what Americans really want!!

christine...you need to do some thinking and understand what our founding documents are and are NOT..it is not a permit for the FDA "to do its job"as responsible americans with half a brain why do we need the FDA? when a farmer puts something bad in its food that farmers business is gone...we find out and he is history,,,simple see? and here is the really BIG one christie...there is nothing really wrong with our air or water!!!the ones telling you this are the ones whose jobs depend on a CRISIS of clean air and water...get it? by todays laws if I came onto your property and dumped oil in your lake you could NOT have me arrested and could not sue me for damages...its true...you could report me to the EPA and have a study done and they might fine me but as for you getting damages back?? forget it. You want the govt. to stop the "stress" in your life???thats a good one ..thanx for the laff! You are responsible for yourself...no one else is making you stressed and the very idea plays into the whole idea of "we are all victims" boo-hoo.
You want to have peace by being peacefull? what a novel idea...almost like our founding fathers saying that only congress can declare "war". Now do not get me wrong I was in tower 2 on 911 and hoped our missles were flying into muslim capitals around the world before tower one even hit the ground..now that would give americans peace. As for as all around the world we all are brothers??? do not beleive it..you have not seen it and need to learn the truth... a free country IS hated but this is really not a problem since we are almost a complete socialist entity now and will be poor and hungry like everyone else very soon.We are a police state..right now..we had 1/2 million people in jail in 1980 and then violent crime fell 17%...but now we have 2 1/2 million in jail...drug laws...domestic violence...hate crimes...blue collar crime...womens rights...EPA violations...gun laws...tax violations..have all helped jail more and more citizens without due process...no jury trial...no proof... welcome to AMERIKA...courtesy of you and me being too lazy to get involved...until it was too late...the tyrants in DC and your local czars are in charge and freedom to do want you want as long as you hurt no one else is GONE!

I am against the government using scare tactics and fear to motivate people to do what they otherwise would not agree to. That's maniuplation. The outcomes are never good.

I am against this tactic partly because stress in the body and mind do cause illness. I would like to see a healthy society of happy people. Check out societies who practice stress-free living and see that the quality of their lives is superior.

There are things wrong with our water. Floride is just one of them. Do some research on the internet. It will be helpful to you.

The FDA has been charged with a responsibility to act on behalf of the safety and protection of Americans. We don't want to live according to the trial and error you suggest...putting products and services on the market that cause great harm to Americans (such as we are enduring), then depend upon Americans to spread the word around so these goods and services go out of business. That's a little too late method. The harm has been done. I'm talking prevention, safety, protection.

My age is neither here nor there. A person can become an informed citizen at any age.

A lot of presidents do what the people do NOT want. One of the main problems, the source of many others, is we have the FED who controls our monetary system, thus controls our government, including the presidents since the FED's inception. These folks are not innocent, they are intentional in their pursuits to destroy Free America. We are working towards returning our country to the free nation it once was, the one our founding documents declared and established.

I DO NOT look to our now corrupt government to be a solution. I hope I see in my lifetime the removal of the massive amounts of corruption and the return of freedom and liberty for all.

America was designed to be a government "by the people, for the people". It is neither right now.

I think it is safe to say that we would both like to see peace on earth, for all to live with our nation's founding ideals...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These are God-given. We declare them.

One point that most people do not understand is that insured people get negotiated rates for health care which are lower that the standard rate. This difference is then written off by the health provider on their taxes. The poor uninsured guy has to pay the standard rate in order for the doctor to take this write off.

A second point I would like to make is that it appears that over 70% of the patients just need an antibiotic. Why does it take a highly trained, excessively paid physician to prescribe the antibiotic when the patient usually already knows this is what they need? A nurse or pharmacist could do this at a greatly reduced rate.

In the late 70's under President Ford, I got the mandated Swine Flu Vaccine and almost died on the way home with a Respiratory Arrest. I WILL NOT TAKE ANOTHER FLU SHOT. I had other symptoms most of my life afterwords as well...So, you'll have to shoot me or take me to your concentration camps cuz I am refusing a flu shot and a Micro Chip..it is against my constitutional rights and my religious beliefs. Why doesn't the government test our titer levels against the Swine Flu for those who received it in the 70's. I am not putting anymore of that bogus pig into my body.

Readying Americans for Dangerous, Mandatory Vaccinations

At least three US federal laws should concern all Americans and suggest what may be coming - mandatory vaccinations for hyped, non-existant threats, like H1N1 (Swine Flu). Vaccines and drugs like Tamiflu endanger human health but are hugely profitable to drug company manufacturers.

The Project BioShield Act of 2004 (S. 15) became law on July 21, 2004 "to provide protections and countermeasures against chemical, radiological, or nuclear agents that may be used in a terrorist attack against the United States by giving the National Institutes of Health contracting flexibility, infrastructure improvements, and expediting the scientific peer review process, and streamlining the Food and Drug Administration approval process of countermeasures."

In other words, the FDA may now recklessly approve inadequately tested, potentially dangerous vaccines and other drugs if ever the Secretaries of Health and Human Services (HHS) or Defense (DOD) declare a national emergency, whether or not one exists and regardless of whether treatments available are safe and effective. Around $6 billion or more will be spent to develop, produce, and stockpile vaccines and other drugs to counteract claimed bioterror agents.

The Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act slipped under the radar when George Bush signed it into law as part of the 2006 Defense Appropriations Act (HR 2863). It lets the HHS Secretary declare any disease an epidemic or national emergency requiring mandatory vaccinations. Nothing in the Act lists criteria that warrant a threat. Also potential penalties aren't specified for those who balk, but very likely they'd include quarantine and possible fines.

The HHS web site also says the Secretary may "issue a declaration....that provides immunity from tort liability (except for willful misconduct) for claims of loss caused, arising out of, relating to, or resulting from administration or use of (vaccine or other pharmaceutical) countermeasures to diseases, threats and conditions determined by the Secretary to constitute a present, or credible risk of a future public health emergency...."

The industry-run US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notoriously rushes inadequately tested drugs to market, putting their efficacy and safety into question, and turning those who use them into lab rats. It includes everyone if a mass vaccination is ordered on the mere claim of a public emergency - no proof required.

The Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (S. 3678) is the other worrisome law, effective December 19, 2006. It amended "the Public Health Service Act with respect to public health security and all-hazards preparedness and response, and for other purposes." Even its supporters worry about issues of privacy, liability, and putting profits over public health. Critics express greater concerns about dangerous remedies for exaggerated or non-existant threats as well as mass hysteria created for political purposes.

At least one other measure is also worrisome - The Model State Emergency Health Powers Act (MSEHPA). So far it's just a proposal by the Center for Law and the Public's Health - "A Collaborative at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown Universities (as) a primary, international, national, state, and local resource on public health law (and) policy for public health practitioners, judges, academics, policymakers, and others."

MSEHPA is now "track(ing) legal responses to the emerging international response to the 2009 H1N1 (swine flu) outbreak, including declarations of public health emergency at the international, national, state, and local levels...." even though forensic evidence can't confirm any H1N1 deaths. No emergency exists anywhere, and reporting one is all hype to sell dangerous drugs to unsuspecting people globally.

On its web site, the ACLU says this about MSEHPA:

It's "written in a way that doesn't adequately protect citizens against the misuse of the tremendous powers that it would grant in an emergency. (It's) replete with civil liberties problems. Its three top flaws are that:

    (1) It fails to include basic checks and balances (by) grant(ing) extraordinary emergency powers (that) should never go unchecked. (It) could have serious consequences for individuals' freedom, privacy, and equality."

    (2) "It goes well beyond bioterrorism (with) an overbroad definition of 'public health emergency" that may be anything a local or national authority declares for any reason with no conclusive evidence for proof.

    (3) "It lacks privacy protections (and) undercut(s) existing protections for sensitive medical information."

MSEHPA worries other organizations besides the ACLU, both conservative and progressive - including the Free Congress Foundation, American Legislative Exchange Council, conservative association of state legislators, Human Rights Campaign, and Health Privacy Project.

The Real Threat of Dangerous, Mandatory Vaccinations

In the wake of the hyped Swine Flu scare, media reports suggest mass vaccinations are coming. The May 6 Kimberly Kindy - Ceci Connolly Washington Post one, for example, headlined "US May Add Shots for Swine Flu to Fall Regimen" without saying they'll be mandatory but reading between the lines suggests the possibility this year or later.

The writers report that "The Obama administration is considering an unprecedented fall vaccination campaign" to include regular and Swine Flu shots, the latter because it's "spreading across the globe."

HHS' Dr. Robin Robinson said "We are moving forward with making a vaccine," and if the government proceeds with a national program, enough supply will be produced to provide two doses for all Americans with spokespersons like National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, claiming adverse reactions aren't to be expected and adding another shot for Swine Flu "should not present a problem."

The New York Times also hypes the scare with reports of city schools closed after unconfirmed Swine Flu cases, a few adult deaths blamed on H1N1 bringing the claimed total in the city to seven, and the World Health Organization (WHO) saying on June 3 that it's moving closer to declaring a worldwide (Level 6) Swine Flu pandemic - even though none exists.

With all the hype, misinformation, and willful lies WHO's Dr. Keiji Fukuda, in charge of flu, said only 117 deaths globally have been "blamed" on Swine Flu and any warning may include the caveat that the virus isn't very lethal. A more accurate statement would explain that no forensic evidence links any deaths to H1N1, and influenza annually kills about 30,000 people in America alone - something the major media never report or that scattered accounts of any type flu deaths worldwide are no cause for alarm or reason for scary headlines.

It's also unconscionable for the WHO, US and other nations' officials to spread lies, deception, and hysteria so major pharmaceutical companies can foist dangerous vaccines and other drugs on unsuspecting people, harming their health and making them vulnerable to later diseases and possible early deaths.

Massachusetts May Be A Forerunner of What's to Come

On April 28, the Massachusetts Senate unanimously passed a pandemic flu preparation bill that rises to the level of martial law. If approved by the House and signed into law, it will mandate among other measures:

    -- "vaccination, treatment, examination, or testing of" all individuals involved in providing health care - as perhaps step one before ordering the same process for all state residents;

-- owners or occupiers of all premises "to permit entry into and investigation of the premises;"

-- closure, evacuation, and decontamination of all suspected facilities; and

-- restricting or prohibiting "assemblages of persons."

Other states may be planning similar measures as precursors to mandatory nationwide vaccinations and overall suspension of civil liberty protections.

Adverse Vaccination Effects on Gulf War Troops

Before deploying to the Persian Gulf in 1990 - 91 (and thereafter to the present), all US troops got a standard series of inoculations against infectious diseases - the same ones given to all US citizens traveling to the region. After arriving, 150,000 also got anthrax vaccinations and 8000 botulinum toxoid ones even though concerns were raised about adverse long-term health consequences.

A National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine (IOM) study was conducted to assess them with results released in September 2000. In December 1997, the Department of Defense (DOD) announced that all US military forces would receive anthrax vaccinations. The Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP) began in March 1998 even though IOM found little published peer-reviewed scientific information on its safety.

In its study, IOM reported evidence of an association between vaccinations studied and transient acute common health effects, including redness, swelling, and fever commonly associated with other vaccinations. However, conclusive proof of long-term problems wasn't determined - likely because study findings were skewed not to find them. More on that below.

IOM also studied botulinum toxoid vaccines and found evidence of an association between the vaccine and transient acute local and systemic effects similar to anthrax vaccinations. Again, conclusive proof of long-term adverse health effects wasn't found - another very dubious conclusion as evidence below explains.

Military personnel usually get multiple vaccinations. IOM studied their effects but didn't prove or disprove any long-term adverse effects. However several independent studies of British Gulf War veterans found some link between multiple vaccinations and later health problems.

Gary Matsumoto is a New York-based award-winning investigative journalist. His 2004 book, "Vaccine A: The Covert Government Experiment That's Killing Our Soldiers and Why GIs are Only the First Victims" took sharp issue with IOM results and the Pentagon's denial of Gulf War syndrome.

Investigating the shadowy vaccination development world, he discovered US military-employed doctors and scientists conducted secret medical experiments on US citizens in violation of the Nuremberg Code and fundamental medical ethics.

For its part, Nuremberg established legal medical experimental standards now incorporated into ethical medical codes, including:

    -- requiring voluntary consent of human subjects without coercion, fraud, deceit, and with full disclosure of known risks;

-- experiments should avoid "all unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injury;"

-- experiments should never be conducted if there's "an a prior reason to believe death or disabling injury will occur;"

-- risk "should never exceed that determined by the humanitarian importance of the problem to be solved..;" and

-- experiments should be terminated if there's reason to believe they'll cause "injury, disability, or death to the experimental subject."

According to Matsumoto, the Pentagon violated these and other standards, betrayed the troops, and the fundamental duty of military and civilian leaders to protect them. Since at least 1987, biowarfare development trumped the welfare of tens of thousands of GIs used as human guinea pigs for inoculation with experimental unlicensed anthrax vaccines containing squalene - an oil-based adjuvant (to enhance immunity) known for decades to cause severe autoimmune diseases in lab animals, yet administered involuntarily without disclosure of its harmful effects to human health. Matsumoto wrote:

"The unethical experiments detailed in this book are ongoing, with little prospect of being self-limiting because they have been shielded from scrutiny and public accountability by national security concerns." He suggested the "writing (was) on the wall" of what's to come with prospects now it may be soon.

"When UCLA Medical School's Michael Whitehouse and Frances Beck injected squalene combined with other materials into rats and guinea pigs back in the 1970s, few oils were more effective at causing the animal versions of arthritis and multiple sclerosis." In 1999, immunologist Dr. Johnny Lorentzen at Sweden's Karolinska Institute found that on injection, an "otherwise benign molecule like squalene can stimulate a self-destructive immune response," even though it occurs naturally in the body.

Other research shows that squalene is the experimental anthrax vaccine ingredient that caused devastating autoimmune diseases and deaths for many Gulf War veterans from the US, UK, and Australia, yet it continues in use today and for new vaccines development in labs. There's a "close match between the squalene-induced diseases in animals and those observed in humans injected with this oil: rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus."

Other autoimmune diseases are also linked to humans injected with squalene. "There are now data in more than two dozen peer-reviewed scientific papers, from ten different laboratories in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, documenting that squalene-based adjuvants can induce autoimmune diseases in animals...observed in mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. Sweden's Karolinska Institute has demonstrated that squalene alone can induce the animal version of rheumatoid arthritis. The Polish Academy of Sciences has shown that in animals, squalene alone can produce catastrophic injury to the nervous system and the brain. The University of Florida Medical School has shown that in animals, squalene alone can induce production of antibodies specifically associated with systemic lupus erythematosus."

Micropaleontologist Dr. Viera Scheibner conducted research into the adverse effects of adjuvants in vaccines and wrote:

Squalene "contributed to the cascade of reactions called "Gulf War syndrome. (GIs developed) arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Raynaud's phenomenon, Sjorgren's syndrome, chronic diarrhea, night sweats and low-grade fever."

Matsumoto's book includes numerous case studies of GIs afflicted with one or more of the above syndromes, their devastating effects, and the outlandish US government reaction - failing to acknowledge their existence or a connection between them and administered vaccines. Also denying the effects of other toxic Gulf theater exposures (like depleted uranium) as well as withholding meaningful treatments or protocols.

US Army Captain George L. Skypeck spoke eloquently for many when he said:

"Was the character of my valor less intense than those at Lexington? Was the pain of my wounds any less severe than those at Normandy? And was my loneliness any less sorrowful than those at Inchon? Then why am I forgotten amongst those remembered as 'heroes?' "

If mass vaccinations are ordered, millions of Americans may ask: Why do you keep using unsafe vaccines and other drugs when clear evidence shows their dangers? Why do you jeopardize all Americans by unleashing a future plague of serious illnesses, diseases, and disabilities? Why have you willfully and maliciously ruined my health?

Doctors Warn: Avoid Genetically Modified Food

    By Jeffrey M. Smith

On May 19th, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on "Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks."[1] They called for a moratorium on GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM's position paper stated, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. They conclude, "There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation," as defined by recognized scientific criteria. "The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies."

Spilling the Beans, May 20, 2009

More and more doctors are already prescribing GM-free diets. Dr. Amy Dean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist, and board member of AAEM says, "I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods." Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says "I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it."

Sean....good for you in taking your vitamins....have you ever taken a Organic Chemistry class or a Biochemistry class? I have...without vitamins as a catalysis, we would not be able to assimilate our food..no ATP cycles can occur,etc....no regeneration of our cells can occur..
And now with Monsanto making our food products defective with pesticides and altering the DNA of the plants and pigs...we WILL be in worst health in the future...cuz our body cannot recognize altered DNA of food products. Monsanto's GMO seeds will MAKE YOU SICK.... WE were created perfectly and our bodies know innately what is good and what to reject... tell a doctor who hates studying nutrition or chemistry and he will tell you, you don't need them! Well doctor ...'it the phytochemicals ain't in our food products anymore...so where the heck are you going to get them???????????? DUH!

I actually haven't taken chemistry.. I know our bodies aren't even made to eat meat. All carnivors intestines are short and straight. Meat passes through their bodies with great ease. Our bodies on the other hand aren't built the same way, so people are getting fat left and right because we manufactor livestock. Our government makes sure that we can eat lots of cheap meat, but doesn't understand why our country is so unhealthy.. The average american eats 5 cows, 6 pigs, and 1,400 chickens in their life time. In our generations time, American's will eat billions of cows and pigs, and trillions of chickens.

Humans are not carnivores or herbivores.
We are omnivores. Our intestines can handle all manner of food, and our teeth as well. Meat gives a growing body proteins that cannot be aquired in plants. The brain and nervous system need these proteins, especially during the formative years.

The only problems with our meat products are a consequence of 'factory' farming, which is also a problem for the animals involved. Animals may not have the level of reasoning that humans do, but they do posess a noticeable level of emotion.

p.s. Take your vitamins, and not the shiny ones.

There's a difference between what our body is made for and what we eat. You can consider us omnivores because we do eat both meat and plants, but our body is not built that way. So many people die or become obese from eating too much meat.

Sean for once I laughed at your comments.......where the heck did you get those stats? e.g. how many chickens and cows and pigs we eat in a lifetime! You may be right on the numbers, but I never looked at it that way. LOL.
I get my understanding on what I an eat from the book "Eat Right for Your Blood Type".
I get my understanding on what humans should eat, for what nutrients we should be consuming, for our health from farmers, veterinarians, naturopathic doctors, alternative doctors, and doctors who are fed up with "just the treatment of disease and have the knowledge and understanding about our normal body chemistry, our ability to fight disease with a healthy immune system.

Our food chain and drinking water is tainted. The animals that we consume are loaded with hormones, corticosteroids, and antibiotics. The plants they eat are grown in soil that lacks selenium, and other minerals. Plants also synthesis sunlight, called photosynthesis, and IF< fruits and vegetables were "vine ripened" we would get the "phytochemicals needed for our healthy immune systems, which we then could be healthier. Instead they are picked before the they are vine ripened and before the plant can develop the phytochemicals and shipped to our produce market "green" and then rot on the shelf til we buy it.There is no nutrients in them. (or if there are, then why doesn't the FDA test them for their nutrient value) And if there were no GMO seeds we would not be so sick.

We as humans can not go out and eat grass, like a cow, we have to consume the cow who digested the pesticide free grass that was grown in good soil with all the minerals they need to be healthy animals so that I can acquire the protein and minerals that I need to be healthy.

I don't drink milk and I'm glad I don't with all the steroids and hormones and antibiotics that the animal is fed, so it produces a pint more, so the big corporation farmers can make a few more dollars at the expense of our babies lives. Once we are weaned off the breast we don't need to continue drinking milk. NO animal keeps sucking on the tit after babyhood. Get you Vitamin D from a pill and assimilate the D by being in the sun.

Let the farmers grow our food the way the used to, by rotating the fields and applying cow manure for fertilizer.
Get the wealthy out of the farming business and start feeding the Americans with American grow food and we wouldn't be so diseased.

Get the Aspartame out of our food chain and we wouldn't have migraines, strokes and obesity....a Polish scientist told me that in 1996....he said your country is poisoning you with a very toxic, man made amino acid.
I don't forget most of my conversations I have had in my lifetime with people of reparable scientific information and compassion for mankind.

Why our Foods, e.g. Fruits and Vegetables are important to our health......

            Phytonutrients; Phytochemicals

            By Laura Dolson, About.com

            Updated: February 19, 2007

About.com Health's Disease and Condition content is reviewed by our Medical Review Board

Definition: Chemicals in plants (apart from vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients) that have a beneficial effect the body. There are hundreds, if not thousands of them, and they have effects such as antioxidants, boosting the immune system, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and cellular repair. Highly colored vegetables and fruits tend to be highest in these chemicals, but tea, chocolate, nuts, and flax seeds are all excellent sources as well. Various families of plants tend towards certain families of phytonutrients, for example, orange foods tend to have the caretenoid group.

The Swiss have an excellent healthcare system. Recently they voted for a right to alternative and complementary medicine. Let's hope that such a constitutional right will be granted to other nations in the near future to counteract the Codex alimentarius agenda that aims at denying access to natural health altogether.

    Lee Swanson Research Update
Vitamin D Shows Positive Results for Mental Function
    June 2009

Increased intake of the sunshine vitamin may slow age-related loss in mental function, according to a new study.

The study adds to an ever-growing body of science supporting the benefits of maintaining healthy vitamin D levels. In adults, it is said vitamin D deficiency may precipitate or exacerbate osteopenia, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, fractures, common cancers, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases. There is also some evidence that the vitamin may reduce the incidence of several types of cancer and type-1 diabetes.

The current study, which followed 3,113 European men aged between 40 and 79, found that higher blood levels of vitamin D were associated with better performance in tests of attention and speed of information processing.

Results of the European Male Ageing Study (EMAS) are published online in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

"Previous studies exploring the relationship between vitamin D and cognitive performance in adults have produced inconsistent findings but we observed a significant, independent association between a slower information processing speed and lower levels of vitamin D," said lead author Dr. David Lee, from Manchester's School of Translational Medicine.

"The main strengths of our study are that it is based on a large population sample and took into account potential interfering factors, such as depression, season and levels of physical activity. Interestingly, the association between increased vitamin D and faster information processing was more significant in men aged over 60 years, although the biological reasons for this remain unclear."

Dr. Lee said that further study should focus on how the vitamin may improve brain function, but the findings "certainly raise questions about its potential benefit for minimizing ageing-related declines in cognitive performance."

Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry Published online ahead of print.

National Healthcare should be given to everyone without insurance.
But, like Medicare, they have to pay a monthly premium, and the larger the number that sign up the more money there will be to take care of them.
C-Span had Howard Dean on today...one guy calls in and said, "he had a stent put in and he has Medicare, his doctor charged him $29K, and his next door neighbor had a stent put in and he has his own insurance and the doctor charged him $190K ! So, who is ripping off the health insurance companies? The doctors or the people?
Also, 47 million people are without health insurance in the USA(10 million or so are illegals) I would like to know with all the job loss that has gone on ..and with a population of 350 million people....so does the math mean that 250 million people ( minus 50 million children)are still working and have health insurance? Or does that mean that the 50 million children have health insurance with the cigerette smokers paying for it......and does it mean that the other 250 million adults work for the government and have insurance?
Also, I can not afford my life insurance policy anymore! That should be looked into also.....how many have life insurance in this country? I keyed in the Federal government group life insurance and with my income of $14,000 I could get a $26K life insurance policy for $18.60 a month! I pay $37 a month for a $8,000 policy! My Medicare is $187 month......
Government workers have it made don't they? Working woman in my generation sure have been screwed all the way around......but at least I didn't spend all my time working for GM and then have my retirement and vested healthcare ripped out from under me...I as a woman just never had a retirement fund .......LOL.
The place is a big mess isn't it....well who knows if they can ever be fair with us the working class.....oh well...life was good while it lasted.....

you miss the ENTIRE point...govt. involvment in healthcare has caused the entire mess...free enterprise is the ONLY answer not poring more gas on the fire..the day we allowed the govt. to control ANY part of healthcare we lost the ability to keep costs down..now the working class pays for the non-working class and who wins? the congressman and senatores and anyone else who gets elected by "helping" the sick get more services..read rons book and you will have a beginning of understanding...my god! national healthcare?? are you nuts? just look at what they have done to EVERY single thing they have stuck there greedy hands into...look at yourself...you really believe "working woman" have been screwed? what about blacks and hispanics and the handicapped and immigrants and on and on.IT reads "we the people" but each group has been carefully crafted to think its somebody elses fault they have been "screwed". We have abandoned our founding documents of individual liberty and responsibilty for services and "help" from our elected oficials. Only a return to leaders who do NOT want to control us and push more regulations down our throat will we ever regain the prosperity of a FREE country. a free market approach to medical care is our only hope and I count only about 12 congress men and woman who believe in our way of life.

your wrong. government involvment didn't raise the price of health care. It was the millions of people who don't have health insurance and refused to pay their hospital bills..

Medicaid is not for everyone, and it is a known fact that millions of people can't get health insurance bc of preconditions. A lot of them are forced to recieve medicaid and a lot of them can't recieve it and skip out on hospital bills which makes health care more expensive overall.

Welfare is a rehabilitation program. You can only be on it for so long. If you complaining about people taking benifits with disabilities, than you are a shmuk. Thats for sure.

It sounds like you havn't made one good decision your whole life. What a joke.

45 million people don't have health insurance. Thats a huge burden on the market. It drives up the cost of health care. I think we're rated 77th place for health care in the world. Every other country has more government intervention, more regulations and universal care.

I guess you think it's okay to be 77th in health care. My main argument is about our energy consumption. We're 34th in the world on energy technology.. I guess you enjoy living as an unhealthy, dirty, and dependent country but i sure don't.

haha, i was talking about a time limit on welfare not medicaid. hahahaha, the people who can't afford health insurance don't pay income taxes. Everything you just wrote is irrelevent to what I said.. I said health care prices are so high because health insurance companies don't accept people with preconditions.

This may be useful to know when grocery shopping, if it's a concern to you.

The whole world is afraid of China-made "black hearted goods"..
Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ?

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690, 691 or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.
471 is Made in Taiwan .

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves. Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA ", so they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits are:

690-692 … then it is MADE IN CHINA .
    00 - 09 … USA & CANADA
    30 - 37 … FRANCE
    40 - 44 … GERMANY
    47 ... Taiwan
    49 … JAPAN
    50 … UK

BUY USA by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number. We need every boost we can get!

    Interventionism (economic)

A “mixed economy” is a society in the process of committing suicide.

If a nation cannot survive half-slave, half-free, consider the condition of a nation in which every social group becomes both the slave and the enslaver of every other group. Ask yourself how long such a condition can last and what is its inevitable outcome.

When government controls are introduced into a free economy, they create economic dislocations, hardships, and problems which, if the controls are not repealed, necessitate still further controls, which necessitate still further controls, etc. Thus a chain reaction is set up: the victimized groups seek redress by imposing controls on the profiteering groups, who retaliate in the same manner, on an ever widening scale.

earning healthcare jan is no longer offered at many companies jan due to restrictive govt. policies taking all but the tiniest profit from corporations. The CEO's you speak are your fellow americans who have earned there salaries by working hard and bringing in profits which enable thousands more americans to have jobs...profits equals growth equals more jobs...the current(and past) regime both in the white house and congress is rapidly adding more and more rules and regs that will bring the whole system(the very finest the world has ever seen to a shuddering halt.Drug and oil companies are private interest companies not SPECIAL interest...of course the rules and regs of socialism garantee a "no competition" arena for some...just claim that small companies cannot meet the "safety" requirements and the new small guy is met with new "green" laws that are nothing short of outright lies meant to line lazy crats in your capitol or DC...all in the name of protecting the people. When 51% of the voting public are paid salaries out of your tax dollars that makes the rest of us slaves to pay there bills...and we passed that point years ago. Your point about CEO's lining there pockets and part time status requirements are just "us" trying to get around legislation that "requires" benefits. Only those that EARN enough profit should receive benefits. not to worry though full blown communism is just around the corner. Amazing though for a people given the finest constitution known to man to trash it in just a couple hundred years...and you and I and our granparents allowed it.

I agree with RP completely except the charity for the poor part, and the free market part. The government has to level the playing field with a reform package that makes all health care policies cover the same so that Don Trump, RP , and George w, and Obama have the same plan as me, you and the guy living under the freeway overpass. the guy living under the freeway overpass gets his for free, paid for by the rest of us 'cause we already pay for it.

It must be noted that healthcare and especially dental care is noticeably absent in America, except for the upper classes, or government employees. Even many corporate employees are made to go without health/dental maintenance because of their low pay and skyrocketing costs of the care. Many corporations do not supply decent benefits programs, doing everything possible to avoid those costs while lining the pockets of their CEO's with many millions of dollars per year in salary and benefits. Many corporations have also adopted schemes of part-time hiring, to avoid the full time status which requires minimum benefits be paid to employees.

Neglect of populace health through economic repression and tyranny, as a means to attack the populace at large must not be ignored, and it has been going on for quite some time. In a society that spouts a creed of capitalism, there are too many laws and taxes restricting commerce for that to be really true. Anything, including some plants, that compete with the profits of special interests like pharmaceuticals and petroleum in this country get firmly trounced with legislation. The economics of America are basically a feudal futilism, and vice versa. The situation has become like this in the last 100 years or so.

Firstly, there isn't a conspiracy 'theory', however there is conspiracy 'fact'... The evidence of this is hidden in plain sight which is why most people such as urself whom seem distracted from the real agenda, and confused with all the disinformation, find it so difficult to accept the fact that the core of our government has been completely hijacked.

You only need look closely at the relationship between government (laws) and all of the major issues we are faced with today to see they are in bed with big industry and dont have the best interests of the people at heart...
Its all very strange. We have a legal system that embraces the teachings of the bible (not the smartest move), yet the economy (worshipped by authority) has all the workings of the 'devil'. (just an analogy, i dont believe in heaven/hell duality)

Now I am not saying that the government should be abolished.. The notion of such is absurd.. Its the individuals, hidden agendas and illegal relationships with industry that need stopping...

    How ?????????

By a well informed public capable of discerning fact from fiction.

In my opinion, there are only 2 main points to consider, and everthing else, (problems and solutions) stem from these points.
Please remember that these points are separated only for the purpose of explanation and are in fact not separate at all.

    1. There is a force behind past and current world events advancing an agenda towards control of this planet and all contained herein.
    2. WE ARE ALL ONE.

Those with the corruptive power to shape our laws and economy know all too well, many truths about existence. There is so much data available relating to the impact of conscious thought on ourselves, others and environment that it seems logical that anyone with good understanding of this phenomenon could use it to their advantage. (of course, having immense wealth, lack of conscience and desire to control others for whatever reason is a must)

'Fear' is the beat of their drum. Media (news, adverising, terror, hollywood etc), is one of the best weapons. The constant onslaught of 'bad news', (economic crisis', diseases, viruses, floods, droughts )etc are all aimed at disempowering the viewer. To control the thoughts, views, opinions, beliefs of the consumer, is to control the direction the world takes to a large extent.. Our civil liberties, freedom of speech and travel privileges wouldnt be threatened if it werent for a war against invisible terrorists.

One must be either ignorant, very naive or delusional, to not see that certain information is NOT made available as necessary when it comes to many topics including health... You only need observe the imformation suppressing that exists in China to see how things are moving here...British Governement Censor is moving fast to block youtube content. China's been awarded more for its human rights policies from the UN, than any other country. What is that alluding too?? Maybe China, the social experiment, is hot on someones agenda for the Western world??

Do u think a group of people commmitted to our best interests would allow toxic chemicals to be added to our water, food, air, drugs etc? Of course not...or suppress the information suggesting foul play behind the walls of chemical giants and or the FDA... yeah right!! What the hell are we paying them for?? There not doing that great a job, yet we keep paying them more and more.. Cut Goverment funding across the board...

I am prochoice. I am not here to prevent people from making their own choice.. I think my words have been completely misconstrued as communism and dictatorship is not my preference for governance, but thats the way its going.. There is a war going on and its not the one in Iraq... There is a war on for our 'minds', and food, water, drugs, terror and media etc are the weapons being used to obtain the prize... or destroy it.....

Sure its an individual choice, but I am certain that if people were made privy to the insurmountable evidence regarding so many of the poisons and toxins in our food etc that they would either stop using a particular product or rally against its use in food altogether.. As consumers we have so much power, but most are made feel powerless over any of this, and therefore just accept it. Most of the chemicals in our foods dont need to be there and or healthier alternatives could be used.
Its not about money, its about control and in this instance with food, its population control..which in turn also funds the pharmas. (more sick people).

Hiding behind freedom of choice only portrays an image of acceptance of the corruption at play when allowing the use of certain poisons.. All the money or ecomonic stimulation/growth in the world is not an excuse for a 'highly evolved society' to pass these toxins into our lives without any open debate, surveys, truthfull media coverage, or educational campaigns into the risks. How bloody irresponsible???

I guess some people consider that an ok practice. Maybe I should give my neighbor some poison to drop a branch from a tree hanging over my fence but deliberately not tell them the tree will die in 5 yrs as a result.. Is the onus on me to tell them, or for the neighbor to find out themselves?... (I would never do this by the way)

The incidence of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer in general has increased dramatically in recent decades.. Do some of ur own research and you will find some interesting figures!!. Yes, human beings live longer than they did a hundred + years ago, and our standard of living and hygeine has improved which is one cause for our lives being extended..
Our water and food is cleaner from disease, but they contain many more chemicals (toxins/poisons).. So the poisons are keeping us from reaching the physical level of fitness that our minds are fast approaching. The distance between how old a person often feels mentally and their biological age suggests something is astray.
The Hunza people of Hunza Valley in Nothern Pakistan father childern beyond 100yrs of age and live to 130-150yrs on basic diets of fresh fish and vegetables and 'living water'. So that also doesnt say much for our way of life does it??? With all the modern western medicine and technology currently available to the general public(the stuff thats not surpressed), I havent read about anyone achieving that in my street. Hmmmmm, i wonder why????? maybe its something in the food...

And how many of these extended lives in the west, are using drugs to accomplish that?.. Keeping someone alive for longer than nature intended with the use of drugs does not constitute a longer life either. Besides, its an improving, evolving consciousness that is at cause of seeing life spans increase.. The chemicals and toxins in our foods etc is an attempt to stop our spiritual growth (which determines true evolution)
It appears that there is a lack of real knowledge of the chemicals, additives, preservatives, etc that are used in our foods, water etc and the profound effects they have on a biological system such as ours. Human beings and this planet are approaching a time in our evolution that is going to see some massive changes. Science is now proving what mystics and spiritual masters have been trying to tell us for years. Eg. Did u know that science has now proven beyond reasonable doubt that reincarnation is real? Consciousness is a constant stream. Change is upon us..

I have mentioned in other posts how the Pineal Gland is at the centre of all of this. And its no mistake that many of the toxins in our food have a negative impact on this small endocrine gland.. The pharmaceutical, chemical and religious giants are trying to prevent an awakening of our Pineal Gland (3rd eye). Dont be ignorant and do some research into this gland and its place in historical and modern religion and science.

And as far as evil is concerned.. I dont entertain such a concept.. To believe in 2 such polarities that would obviously be in conflict (good versus evil), is to deny the true nature of the universe. There is no competition, the universe is not at war with itself. Good/bad, Good v evil, right/wrong. These are man made concepts based on the dual nature of the human brain. God/Source/Universe does not suffer from the same human condition as we do...

So Point 2 above is the 'good' news. Action is really the last step in the equation. If action is taken out of 'fear', it will prove fruitless in the end.. If we act out of 'love', we move with the natural current of the universe-going with the flow, not against. And when the time is right, we act, not react.

Separation is an illusion. Everything is ONE thing, so even the so called bad stuff is still all GOD, just like you. Human beings are not inheritantly evil. (Nature v Nurture), Sure we all have a pain body (ego) and most live out there lives based on subconscious memories replaying in there minds (the reason why lives can be stagnat or seem to repeat), instead of living from inspiration (source energy - GOD).
Nobody does anything wrong given their model of the world. If young humans were educated spirtually and taught how to create the 'perfect' life for themselves, and fulfilling their purpose, using conscious thoughts and made aware of the true nature of things then we would not be having this conversation. This is of course somewhat difficult to see, since the majority are in government controlled educational systems designed specifically to prevent an awakening..

So to call us evil is to display a lack of understanding of reality. Its not evil humans that have seen our arrival at this crucial junction. Greed and extreme disconnection with self, has seen those who have forgotten 'who they really are', take advantage of those less knowing of certain truths and perpetuating lies and disinformation to keep the public ignorant. So its not at all our fault directily, but it is our responsibility. To disregard information or facts relating to any subject because of its source, the content, the timing, the messenger, or repercussions, is tragic and sad to say the least, not to mention arrogant.

How is this linked to health?? Well its all linked... Its all part of the one solution... Health, money, war, global warming, war on drugs, abortion etc are all evidence of a sick human race.

We, as a spoon fed, ignorant, naive competition based society have allowed our 'shadow governments', whose tools include (Problem-reaction-solution) to orchestrate, manipulate events and laws to advance an agenda that is so outrageously huge, that it would seem far fetched and ludicrous portrayed as a plot in a hollywood blockbuster.
'If' future generations were to study the collective consciousness of humanity today amidst the grip of communism, they would be shocked and amazed that its taken so long for us to see the appauling truth let alone survive it.

It's time people stopped being distracted by the 'effects' of a sick human species and started looking at the 'cause'.. The medical industry has spread its 'outdated' & 'physical' approach to health, focusing on the symptoms and how to treat them for long enough. U cant put a band-aid on a shark bite. It wont pass anymore.. An 'holistic' approach to life itself will aid in identifying the 'cause'. Human thought.

When a critical mass of human beings are resonating with love, the effect on the whole will be so immense that those who have forgotten who they really are will shine their light too. In this, no real action as such is required.. If we could once again see the phycallity of our lives as part of a grand illusion of separation, and that we are all in fact the ONE life, (which we will) the health system, war machines, money system, global warming, etc will all self correct as these issues are a reflection of the consciousness of humanity.

If we correct the inside, the outside will follow... Believing is seeing, not the other way around as we are taught. There is only ONE thing, and everything is A Part of the ONE thing that IS. That is the truth being supressed. That is the message that needs spreading..
Yes there are some scary things going on, but at the end of the day, the only way we will rise above the consequence of our own manisfestations is to love ourselves and each other.
This is not so esoteric or far fetched as it first seems and would achieve results faster than attacking the source as we are the source..

Its easier to nurture and heal the tree producing the bad fruit than it is to cut it down and start again...

Together we can all change the world, but it has to start within..
The veil is falling and soon all will be revealed.

Health, wealth and Happiness to you.
    Thankyou.

    Peace I AM
    P
ps. Whats the worst that can happen if I am wrong??... Nothing

You only need observe the imformation suppressing that exists in China to see how things are moving here...China's been awarded more for its human rights policies from the UN, than any other country.

There is a war on for our 'minds', and food, water, drugs, terror and media etc are the weapons being used to obtain the prize....

The incidence of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer in general has increased dramatically in recent decades.. Do some of ur own research and you will find some interesting figures. Yes human beings live longer than they did a hundred + years ago, and our standard of living and hygeine has improved which is one cause for our lives being extended..
Our water and food is cleaner from disease, but they contain many more chemicals (toxins/poisons).. So the poisons are keeping us from reaching the physical level of fitness that our minds are fast approaching. The distance between how old a person often feels mentally and their biological age suggests something is astray.

And how many of these extended lives are using drugs to accomplish that?..
It appears that you have no real knowledge of the chemicals, additives, preservatives, etc that are used in our foods, water etc and the profound effects they have on a biological system such as ours. Human beings and this planet are approaching a time in our evolution that is going to see some massive changes. Science is now proving what mystics and spiritual masters have been trying to tell us for years. Eg. Did u know that science has now proven beyond reasonable doubt that reincarnation is real?

And when the time is right we act, not react.

To disregard information or facts relating to any subject because of its source, the content, the timing, the messenger, or repercussions, is tragic and sad to say the least.

How is this linked to health?? Well its all linked... Its all part of the one solution... Health, money, war, global warming, war on drugs, abortion etc are all evidence of a sick human race.

We, as a spoon fed, ignorant, naive competition based society have allowed our governments whose biggest tool is (Problem-reaction-solution) to orchestrate, manipulate events and laws to advance an agenda that is so outrageously huge, that it would seem far fetched and ludicrous portrayed as a plot in a hollywood blockbuster.

The medical industry has spread its 'outdated' & 'physical' approach to health, focusing on the symptoms and how to treat them. U cant put a band-aid on a shark bite. An 'holistic' approach to life itself will aid in identifying the 'cause'.

Yes there are some scary things going on, but at the end of the day, the only way we will rise above the consequence of our own manisfestations is to love ourselves and each other. end of story.

    Peace I AM
    P
ps. Whats the worst that can happen if I am wrong??... Nothing

by the way.....God created Evil...Lucifer was his name who led the worship music in heaven, when he wanted to be God...God kicked his most beautiful angel out and called him and his followers demons and Satan. And sent him here for us to discern & learn from what is good and what is evil..in order to train us to follow our good conscious. And don't say I"m pushing my religion onto you either....even the Skull and Cross bones Yale's elitist cult, believe in Satan and Clinton,Bush's,Kerry belong to it! So, does every sorority and fraternity in this land know what we are talking about. The only difference is,they tell it in secret and follow the wrong one...

Here is an article on abortion. And what our government does not want us to know, of their condoned legal abortions/"gov.sanctioned population control or genocide", and a insult to the capability of Americans to be fathers and mothers. The list includes these side effects, mental, hormonal, physical, and I feel moral issues for our doctors, and our generation of guilt ridden men and woman. And they need spiritual help after having had an abortion. How many mourners are mourning in silence across this country? Both the men and the woman? 1.5 million abortions performed a YEAR since 1972! Russia and China has more than that a year!
Those human beings need lots of care after having that procedure done. By the way, where are all those babies buried? Yah don't see a list of those names written on a bronze wall in Washington DC do yah! Those men and woman sacrificed those babies. all in the name of Woman's Rights!
Another thing is......its all about MONEY and making the clinics and doctors who will do it, rich. Where are they and who are they? I never see them before congress or C-span, advocating their work. I'd like to hear about their nightmares they must be having. I'd like to hear about how much they love their jobs!
Or a movie called....Exterminators gone wild!

Us Christians need not judge them, God will later!
However, I think God has those little babies with Him. And he loves and cares about every man and woman who succumbed to that deceptive mess! And, someday those mom's will see how good God raised them!

      The Hand Of God -

A Journey from Death to Life

      by the Abortion Doctor

      Who Changed His Mind

      The Autobiography of
      Dr. Bernard N. Nathanson, M.D.
Dr. Bernard Nathanson was co-founder in 1969 of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws -- NARAL -- later renamed the National Abortion Rights Action League. He was also the former director of New York's City's Center for Reproductive and Sexual Health, then the largest abortion clinic in the world. In the late 1970's he turned against abortion to become a prominent pro-life advocate, authoring Abortion America and producing the powerfully revealing video, "The Silent Scream." Dr. Nathanson is currently Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College and a visiting scholar at Vanderbilt University.

As director of the world's largest abortion clinic and the nation's most prominent abortionist, Dr. Bernard Nathanson presided over 60,000 abortions.

As co-founder of the National Abortion Rights Action League he helped make abortion legal.

Then, in a conversion that made headlines and astonished both sides of the abortion debate, he renounced his profession to become a pro-life advocate.

But Dr. Nathanson's journey was not over. In this deeply personal memoir, he reveals what led a lifelong atheist and abortion crusader first to the pro-life cause, and finally to Christianity.

      Quotes about Dr. Nathanson's Book

"A passionate account of the author's transition from pioneer of abortion rights to champion of the pro-life cause...This concrete and powerful contribution will be required reading for all involved in the abortion debate."

Ive posted on 'War on Drugs', 'Sound Money' and 'Global Warming'. Now I figure its time to have my 10cents worth on 'Health Care'....
Health Care.. yeah right! who are we kidding? We dont have health care, its more like a sick fund..
We need to take a small detour for a moment and look at WHY people are so sick. yes there is a massive strain on our 'sick system', and its due to the onslaught of poisons and toxins we have immersed our lives in (through no fault of the taxpayers).

Corruption behind the walls of big industry is to blame, eg pharmaceuticals, medical industry, chemical giants and so on.
To see, on a physical level why we are so sick, we need look no further than our diet... Healthy food, or lack there of is the biggest culprit..
How many commercials have u seen for brocolli lately? probably none. How many commercials have u seen for processed, refined junk, laced with toxic components, (additives, colours, flavours, preservatives, etc? How many commercials have u seen for diet products packed with aspartame? I would say most of them. There is no money in healthy people or healthy food, which is why farmers cant afford to tell us about their healthier products..
please click on link and read thoroughly.

    http://www.democracynow.org/2009/5/14/omnivores_dilemma_author_michael_pollans_new

It is so obvious to me that if we correct what is happening within the food industry, it will reduce the heavy strain on our 'health system' as they go hand in hand.
I would go one step further in saying that if people were educated with real facts about food and not force fed lies and succumbed to the bias advertising (brainwashing)by manufacturers, then we could eliminate the need for pharmaceutical companies to a large extent.
Then we can take the argument one step further and research Dr. Hew Len's, Self - I-dentity Ho'oponopono technique (google Ho'oponopono) and we would soon realize that all illness is self-inflicted and cureable by self with little to no intervention by western medicine, which of course, has its place but as a last resort...Cutting people open and or pumping them full of drugs was not the way mother nature intended. The whole thing is a money making scam and a bid to dumb down and depopulate the planet.

If we eat lifeless, dead food that can sit on a shelf for 6months, then u can expect to take on the characteristics of the food, (dead) as we are what we eat to a certain degree.
So fix our diets and we fix the health system as they go hand in hand...
As consumers, we hold all the power (if it werent for media etc disempowering us). If we boycotted a product, the manufacturer would either change their ingredients, make new products or go out of business. Either way, I will be damned if I am going to poison myself and my family to make fat profits for manufacturers that dont have my health in their best interests...

Remember, Condemnation without thorough investigation is the height of ignorance... Do some research...Seek and ye shall find....Dont go silently into the night without asking some awkward questions. You owe it to yourself and ur family to make healthy choices, and this way, aside from accidents/emergencies etc, you will never need visit a hospital or doctor.
    Thanks,
    Peace I AM
    P

I am going to go ahead and assume ignorance to the natural law in your case so please understand.People eat what they want to eat. There is no large conspiracy to deny anyone "the truth" as you say.we are not so sick...we live longer now than ever and our lack of excersise and good nutrition is our own choice. Also it helps to keep people in line with big goverment(medicare) to keep convincing them that the problem is there neighbor i.e.(corporations)
...we make our own choices and eat what we want...if you choose to eat good food well good for you. Sadly you have bought into the whole EVIL giant conspiracy and do not know yet that the evil is within ourselves for not curbing govt. a long time ago....keep reading dr. paul and our founding fathers ...they were geniuses

ron paul is correct to point out that our healthcare system is broken and horrible, but isn't ours the only privatized system in the industrial world? if "nationalized" healthcare is so bad, how come the other industrial countries only pay half of what we pay?

due to the government-enforced monopolies of HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) and pharmaceutical companies, many patients will never even hear about some of the most effective and non-invasive treatment methods. These natural and inexpensive ways of regaining one’s health are being suppressed by the FDA and the medical establishment not because of safety concerns (they’ve been around for hundreds of years), but because they cannot be patented and would therefore cut into the pharmaceutical industry’s profits.

i don't know what you mean by "not up to our standards." if you look just at objective health outcomes such as life expectancy, infant mortality, frequency of sickness, how often people have to return for additional treatment, complications, etc., the other industrial countries perform much better than us. right now our health outcomes are at the level of malaysia and i think cuba is around our level too. remember, both malaysia and cuba are poor third-world countries.

Thanks Andy... I am not aware of the data that you are looking at...if you could link the site or article I would love to read more. I don't see how a poor country is able to afford a quality working healthcare system. Doesn't seem to make sense to me. Who pays for the system? I have been trying to understand the situation myself and not get caught up by the propaganda that is out there right now. Personal friend that I have in Canada and Europe can go on and on about the problems with their systems and sustainability.

Overall I am cynical to government programs... as I have yet to see a successful one.

As an auditor... becareful with numbers and statistic... they can easily be changed by how the data is defined... (i.e., infant mortality - how is death defined in this case).

30,000 people die of the plain ole Flu every year! And they don't call that an epidemic.
Is anyone old enough to remember the Swine Flu scare and the mandated vaccine ordered by President Ford? Well, I got the vaccine and I nearly went into respiratory arrest on the way home from getting it! A few weeks later, President Ford came on the news and said he was sorry but humans can't get the swine flu, it's passed from pig to pig.

WJR out of Detroit, this week put its listeners in touch with that Swine Flu scam back in the late 70's and reported, that year 55,000 people died nationwide of the Swine Flu vaccine and 30,000 of the 55,000 died here in Michigan from the vaccine!

So, I think this is another way for government to depopulate us and to get our focus off the investigation's of our government. Also, what I am wondering is the 100 or so who died of some kind of flu in Mexico, did they die after they may have been used as guinea pigs from taking the Swine Flu vaccine? And the one little Mexican baby that died just across the border in Texas, had she been given the Swine Flu vaccine along with her outrageous numbers of other immunizations that they are giving now to babies?

Plus, this Swine flu vaccine has double the amount of Mercury in it as a preservative, enough for a 1,000 lb. human .......but not little 7 lb babies. The mercury in those flu shots would nearly kill yah let alone a vaccine that is not transmitted to humans and should never be put into the their bloodstream to try to build up antibodies against it.....it's kind of like what Monsanto does with their GMO seeds and GMO piglets.....no human can tolerate that type of food. Monsanto's should be stopped too. This swine flu thing is probably just a ploy to MAKE everyone buy Monsanto's GMO piglets, to make the company rich and a monopoly on, all,our food.
The only trouble is people who eat the food grown with the GMO's well, they expect about 20,000 million starving people to die from the food Monsanto produces.......but what do they care right?
Feed the Hungry programs are all run by the Elitist's to make money and kill us off.
Sorry to be so suspicious and negative but I'm fed up with the feds...none of them either know what they are doing or don't care.

Ok Peter you believe what you want to believe. I also have many family members in the medical field, from Physicians on down. I also have some in Judicial. And it seems you never answered why it costs $300.00 just for an office visit. Just for his time? There is nothing wrong with the healthcare field, just those of you that cant afford or will not afford it. So you want to gripe and bring those of us down with good insurance. By all means, use the free clinics thats what they are there for. But for me, I prefer to use my insurance and pick my own physician, one thats not just money hungry. Or one that Big Brother Goverment has forced on me.

Lets see.. by your account 300 per hour. We'll use an 8 hour day (I know its more for the doc but thats all the staff works)$2400.00 intake on visits alone. $52800.00 monthly. Pay staff (we'll go high side) $12.00 hr x 8 x 22 working days a month x 3 staff members = $2112.00. Building rental (if stand alone not in group) SF x $12.00 (average in my area for office)= $12000.00 Office supplies and utilities around $2000.00 Med Mal insurance (if no claims) $2000.00 Licensing fees are multi year so dollars a month. Still looking at $34,688.00 per month. So what am I missing again? You taught me nothing but how misinformed people are as to the truth. I'll go with the one who got into the field to help. I hope I opened your eyes, as you said that how we learn. And by the way, I gave up on this site a long time ago. It seems its only for people to cry about how hard they have it because they did not plan. Don't get mad because you made poor judgments, but don't try to make me support you because you did. I realize now, through listening to people like you, I definitely don't want someone like Ron Paul in office if he has followers like you. Misinformed and angry at the world.

    Peter,
I have to disagree with you. Doctors earning are and will remain high. And yes administrators do make about the same as a physician. But why shouldnt they? They earned their degrees same as the doctors. And you don't need to sue? No you don't NEED to I'll have to agree to that, but thats like saying you don't need to make the guy that caused an accident pay for the damages he caused. Or make companies financially responsible for the injured worker. As far as just printing a doctors name in the paper, yea right. MANY doctors that have been wrote up in the local paper still have a large patient base. We make everyone else financially responsible why not doctors? We HAVE a public healthcare in place. People are just too vane to use it. And the resources the offices do have are being spent on illegal immigrants. Hospitals will do pro bono work, why wont a doctor? You end up in an ER with no job or money the hospital will work with you to submit the bill to medicaid for payment. But you will always get that bill from the doctor which will not be submitted. Good luck on getting a doctors office visit when your a self-pay. Again explain to me what warrants a $300.00 office visit? People can keep side stepping the issue. We already have a public healthcare in place. Free if your not working and a sliding scale if you are. All goverment is wanting to do is force everyone to use them.

I will try to show you one step at a time deb
1.doctors do NOT earn as near as much as they used to..pediatrician make so much less with more hours its not even funny,,all docs are..except plastic
2.administrators earned a degree to do a make beleive job required by our crazy legal system...we could give degrees to make bonzos if the law required them that does not mean you or I need a "bonzo"
3 and as far as the "guy that pays for the accident" he does not exist...we (the insured) pay for all accidents because we have "no fault" which mean "no responsibility"
4 if we had to check out are own doc (in the papers) would you use one that was bad??
5 you want docs to add to there costs by submitting bills also??? and how can a hospital do pro-bono without doctors,??nurses anastesiologisys(?) does the building itself do it ???
6 govt wants to force???? do you hear yourself??? listen to your words???FORCE!!!
last but not least...have you ever heard of an ER turning away a sick person??? never!!! I have an entire family in the medical field....reality just does not fit into your perception of the world..you want to bankrupt all businesses?? that is what is happening by the way...how about WE ALL OUR RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR OWN...like in the founding documents

deb...doctors are earning less than ever while seeing more patients..this is because they must see more patients because you and I that have earned our health insurance MUST pay for those that dont...did you know that the highest paid hospital workers are not the docs or nurses but the administrators?? keeping up with all the regs and lawsuits...you do NOT need to sue a doctor ..just print his name in the paper and his business is over...but we dont want that ..just payoff out of our premiums and everyone is happy ..right?? alot of people visit a doctor just because they can..not need to ..can..just flash that medicaid charge card

I DO NOT want the goverments hand in my healthcare. Healthcare is NOT broken. We have many free clinics all over the country. Cant say that many dont have healthcare, they do. Problem is too many ILLEGALS are sponging off our medical care and taking it from those AMERICANS that can use it. As a middle class American I work hard for my good insurance. It is not fair to those of us who have great insurance to be subjected to lower standards because all insurance is not created equally. Healthcare workers btw have the worst insurance. If medical workers REALLY want to help why not lower their prices? Tell me really why does it cost $300.00 an office visit for a specialist just to look at you? If they run tests of course its more.Doctors and such are just upset they are not making a killing anymore. Insurance premiums would not be so high if Doctors would police their own too. Guess we are to be forgiving when they make a major mistake and kill someone or seriously injure them. To make them responsible with a lawsuit is just unquestionable. All I have to say is LEAVE MY HEALTHCARE ALONE!!!

deb…doctors are earning less than ever while seeing more patients..this is because they must see more patients because you and I that have earned our health insurance MUST pay for those that dont…did you know that the highest paid hospital workers are not the docs or nurses but the administrators?? keeping up with all the regs and lawsuits…you do NOT need to sue a doctor ..just print his name in the paper and his business is over…but we dont want that ..just payoff out of our premiums and everyone is happy ..right?? alot of people visit a doctor just because they can..not need to ..can..just flash that medicaid charge card

      Deb,
You are a great example of the misinformed public concerning the health care issue in this country today. You are wrong on many levels. You say health care is not broken and you don't want government involvement in it but who exactly do you think pays for the "free health clinics" you talk about? It is the government. In fact, government is involved in over 50 percent of health care in this country. Medicaid, VA, all government employees, civil servants like firemen and police, politicians, state schools and all of the poor who manage to get assistance are all subsidized by government. If you don't want the government in health care then you are too late. Second 72 percent of the people who have insurance get subsidized through their employer. If you are insured in this way you actually do not even pay for all of your own premium. This has nothing to do with how hard you work if your employer does not provide this benefit. It is only because of the governments previous price and wage controls that health care is attached to businesses. In any case most people probably have no clue how much their actual premiums really are every month. Only 4 percent of people with insurance actually pay for their entire premiums. 4 percent. Now in reality, these 4 percent, mostly self employed, pay two,to four times what others pay in premiums, pay for all the government involvement with their taxes, and pay for employers benefits (to you?) through raised costs in services and products those companies make. I pay 740 dollars monthly in premiums.
60 percent of bankruptcies in this country are caused by medical problems. Eighty percent of those had health insurance when they got sick. Therefore your complete trust in your health insurance may be misguided. I have personal experience with this with my insurance through a number of companies. You have possibly heard in the news about how insurance companies can use a pre-existing condition to stop people from being covered. I have experience with this. In my case, I had a physical and an xray found a shadow about the size of a third of my little finger nail. The doctors decided to do a biopsy. They could not get to the spot. It never caused me a single difficult breath, or a cough, or any other symptom. Eventually it went away. By eventually I mean it was gone 7 years later. I was never on any meds. The problem was that my insurance went up four times what it was and no other insurance company would cover me because of a pre-existing condition that never was an issue. This is a plan devised by the insurance companies to either price the people who need their so called product the most or at least make tons of money from them. I literally paid over 8400 dollars a year just in premiums.I went to the doctor maybe 5 times over the next 6 years. 8 years after the s pot was found,a virus, yes a flu like virus, gave me congestive heart failure. Doctor says I can't work doing what I do, which is physical labor. My heart had an ejection fraction of 1/4 what it should be. How exactly do I pay for my 740 dollar a month premium at that point? 65 thousand in premiums mean nothing then, to the insurers. How would that work for you if that happened or you lost your job? On top of that, even though I am insured, I owe 3600 in hospital bills.
A reality check is in order in this country. Health insurance companies today spend 30 per cent in overhead which is spent on campaign finance, lobbying, executive salaries
(averaging 14 million for CEOs), advertizing and billing. This does not even include profit. This money off the top does not even go to health care. Why do we need to give out 100 dollars for every 70 that actually goes into health care? The insurance companies should not even be called health care. They provide no service pertaining to your health. Medicaid has a three per cent overhead and deal with the old, disabled and the people who generally need more health care. The insurance company's many policies also bleed into the doctors offices and hospitals who have to have complete departments to figure out all the different policies and coverages and fight with the insurance companies over what is or is not covered. This is another area that is not actual health care.
Take time to read up on HR676 which is a bill that gets no press time at all. This is because it actually acknowleges that health insurance companies are blood suckers. This is a bill for national health insurance, not health care, not socialized medicine, not Obama's plan. The government could not tell you where to go, who to go to, or what your doctor can or can not do concerning your health care. It would be less expensive than what we have today.

The plan would be good for all, except a corrupt private insurance system that provides no moral purpose. They are only brokers skimming money off the top. They are only in the business of making money, not in the business of health care. I am sort of tired of paying exorbitant premiums that I could lose in a moment, while paying for both people who get subsidized by government and private employees, while still having hospital bills I can not pay for.

By the way, I don't know of a single person who refuses medicaid when they reach 65 and I don't care what their philosophy or political position is on the health care in this country. I suggest all of those who wish for no government involvement, refuse this.

Calvin while that is a nice thought, and you do have some moments of being correct (history of insurance), government provided healthcare is absolutely wrong. Again anything provided by the government is subject to politics, lobbying and corruption. Do you think the government should tell you which healthcare provider you see? Do you think that the government should disallow you to seeing a specialist 3 states away and instead see the kid straight of med school?

Government intervention will only raise costs and decrease the flexibility of healthcare, especially if it is federally managed. Case and point, the medical industry is one of the only industries where increases in technology have not made it cheaper to recieve. Do you see that phenomnon in cars, cameras, tvs, etc?

Regulation currently is what is stopping healthcare from being cheaper. Have you ever gone to a clinic vs a hospital? You will be 100% diagnosed and prescribed by a nurse and a doctor will sign the sheet. Tell me again why I need a doctor to sign that sheet when the nurse did all of the work and picked the correct prescription?

Open markets that have rules to allow more competition would lower prices. Removal of having 3-4 layers of companies managing payments between you and the insurance company would reduce overhead and increase profits (which would more than likely end up in reduction of cost to you as a consumer). Cheaper healthcare would mean more healthy individuals would opt out of insurance which would mean that the premiums would drop in price to lure in consumers.

Mandates that reduce competition and introduce monopolies are exactly what is wrong with health insurance today. Until those are fixed, the total, real cost of healcare will just continue to increase.

A cooperative would be the most efficient system. It would have to be universal, no exceptions. Like an electric co-op, everyone must pay in to the system. A small board of directors to manage the non-profit cooperative.
No insurance profits, no government beaurocracy. No free lunch.

        Stewart,
There is a bill that has about ninety sponsors but has been actually kicked out of the debate by democrats pushing the Obama plan. Doctors have even been arrested for bringing it up at a congressional hearing on health care reform. It is HR 676. It is basically a coop. They call it universal insurance but it is the same principle. Everyone in, nobody out. No profit for insurance companies, no middleman between you and your doctor.Best potential for lowering costs and covering everyone. 18000 doctors and health professionals are in favor of it.

Ron Paul is totally wrong wrong wrong on this one. I am in RP's Texas district. So his vote is supposed to represent me.

So read this Ron Paul. The MAJORITY of physicians, the MAJORITY of nurses, and the MAJORITY of Americans (60% and rising) want a Single Payer health care system that is not administered by "free market" greedy insurance companies. Health care is a human right. Ron Paul is wrong and he will need to represent our wishes or he will be voted out of office.

Organize at singlepayeraction.org. I hope to picket RP at every chance we can get. Organize. No more email campaigns. No more letters to RP. Ron, we're going to show up at your door step and protest.

Healthcare services should be handled just like any other service provided by state, local and federal governments like our police and fire departments. Our Paramedics are a perfect example of the blending and transitional phase of healthcare delivery. They execute their services professionally without discrimination to all people in dire need of their services. Rarely to you read or hear about any complaints of their fine work and exemplary services often performed under circumstances not unlike the battlefields in Iraq.

We can spend all day arguing about the terms and conditions of health insurance policies over what is covered and what is not covered or whether pre-existing conditions come into play.

The fact of the matter is healthcare insurers exist as for profit businesses and in that sense their primary concern is the health of their bottom line. Period. Until we fully grasp the ramifications of that, we are destined to continue along the path we have taken over many years.

At one time in our distant past, the notion of healthcare insurance was intended to serve as more of an altruistic service to spread the risk around reducing the threat of potentially devastating costs when those services would be required by the relative few. That thought, in reality could not be further from the concern and mindset of the healthcare insurance industry of today.

I would suspect that if you were to pool all the money that companies contribute in employer provided insurance plans along with what we all pay in co-payments and with our monthly deductions from our paychecks you could amply fund a healthcare delivery system in America that would be the envy of other nations who already have such a system in place.

I would suggest that the next administration consider a transitional phase-in through a co-operative effort with hospitals start by funding emergency room operations. Again moving from those paramedic services already funded by tax dollars we would begin the process of phasing-out the role of healthcare insurers.

In light of our current economic crisis, steps like these would have a dramatic positive affect relieving not only individuals, the companies that employ them but also hospitals and clinics who are burdened by the constraints of the healthcare insurance companies.

No one need worry about losing their jobs with healthcare insurance companies and not finding gainful use of their skills. We will need good people to work in the documentation departments to track not only the success of a new delivery program but also to proudly document the improving health of each and every citizen in America.

Trust me, there are plenty of other areas where insurance companies can make money. Just look at the success of AIG for example. Well, maybe AIG is not such a good example inlight of their recent gambling losses and we, the government, have taken them over.

Healthcare Insurance Companies are no guarantor of quality healthcare delivery. And in America they have become an impediment to the physical and financial health of the people of our nation.

We need to remove the word, Insurance, from the lexicon of healthcare delivery in America. A new word that should be used is healthcare Assurance, where the money we now spend in a system that no longer works, is diverted to an efficient direct delivery of this service which is equally important as our police, fire and paramedic services.

There are many congressman in our government who are doctors and lawyers. Even they are advocates of a national health care system.
However, It will affect a decline in All concerns incomes.
No longer will doctors and administrators of hospitals be able to be so greedy. And it will be like taking the Lion by the Tail!
They ain't going to like it!
However, in a nation of 300 million people, they know with 50 million of us without insurance and 70 million of us on Medicare..30 million illegals,150 million under the age of 62yrs old, government paid or should I say cigarette smokers paid healthcare for children..they know their business is down!
And doctors and hospitals are just about broke anyway. So, government has to try to bail them out! Many people are bankrupt with Medical Bills they still owe, I don't see government bailing those poor souls out!
I've heard many doctors are working, a second job, in ER's, cuz they don't have enough patients to run their offices!
I say, government should cut down on money given to medical schools and lay those instructors off and take care of the doctors that are out there struggling. Also, stop contracting with doctors from foreign countries and give our American doctors the business and improve medical care for this country for Americans who speak English and were trained in our country.
That goes for teachers and nurses too..stop importing medical workers and take care of our own countries medical field. We need the jobs ....do you get it yet?

I read a statement in here that kind of scared me:

"An unchecked “free” market, especially ones as profitable as the medical fields, lead to just as much, if not more than, those regulated by governmental bodies. I hold as case in point the mortgage and loan industries over the last decade"

Anyone who has actually looked at things realises exactly why this happened. The folks at the Mises institute have been saying this was going to happen for years now. But to help you out heres a breakdown:

    1) Federal Government sets as it's objective that home ownership be more widely available to the Public

    2) Federal Reserve Responds by lowering interest by both loaning loads of money to banks (who turn around and loan this money out)

    3) More loans to banks = more loans BY banks (and BTW more money was loaned by banks than was loaned to them.....yeah wonderful system right?). This increased the demand on housing. increased demand raises housing prices (This is why a friend of mine made $800,000 in 5 years flipping a house in San Diego. yes it was at times that dramatic)

    4) This SHOULD have raised the interest rate on homeloans (loaning more money with the same income should mean a higher risk therefore a higher rate right?) but nu-uh. Rates stayed the same and at times LOWERED.

    5) Eventually in order for banks to be able to get the lower income but higher housing cost thing straightened out they had to start doing Subprime stuff

    6) The bubble finally callapsed on homes worth. loans that were terribly contrived and no rational person should ever have accepted (but did, under the guise of "the house is an investment, if i cant make the payment I'll just sell it) were coming to fruition.

The housing thing and most of our current economic mess has nothing to do with deregulation. as a matter of fact in order to throw this "deregulation" card around you have to tell people what regulations were tossed out that caused this mess. Know what? You cant! Regulations on the financial market have done nothing but INCREASE over the past 20+ years

    On topic of healthcare:

I really wish he'd write more on this subject. His book had some in it but as a Doctor I'd really like to hear more about his thoughts on this stuff

"Additionally, Ron Paul wants to change the tax code to allow individual Americans to fully deduct all health care costs from their taxes."

I thought RP was saying he would abolish the IRS and the FED if it was in his power? If this is so why does he talk about altering a tax code when in his previous point he clearly states that the IRS shouldn't even exist, and wouldn't if it were in his power to abolish it?

He may want to abolish the IRS, but that is something that he knows will take a lot longer than getting a bill passed that will allow individuals the ability to claim health care costs on their taxes. If we are ever successful at shuting down the IRS, we will have to work on the loss of a health care tax deduction when that day comes. If we are going to change government, it would be prudent to make modifications in small degrees, not in huge sweeping changes. Radical change is not congruous to conservative thought and can be dangerous.

Dr. Ron Paul, you are the best representatives in Washington D.C. that I have seen so far. Everyone in Washington D.C. should look up to you as a role model. I agree with alot of what you said concerning health care, economy, nonintervention, the war in Iraq, the Constitution. We need more leaders like you, who represent the Constitution and the founding fathers.
