National Defense

If you hit someone and kill their family, they will hate you and probably hit you back in the future.

That’s what blowback is all about. It seems like such a simple concept, but many of Ron Paul’s former opponents for the Presidency vehemently denied its validity.

They professed that what our military does abroad has no effect on how the citizens of the world feel towards us. Rudy Giuliani in particular believed that the 9/11 terrorists hated our wealth and freedom so intensely that they sacrificed their lives to prove it. (Of course, our government bombing their countries, propping up their dictators and supplying their enemies with money and weapons had nothing to do with it.)

Instead of securing our borders, we’ve been planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression. Within a few short years, we turned Iraq into the world’s leading breeding ground for terrorists. Our military is spread thin all across the planet, yet we remain involved in dangerous power plays that unnecessarily put the lives of our soldiers at risk. And we brazenly squandered the wealth of our nation as if there were no tomorrow.

It doesn’t make any sense unless you consider increasing the profits of the military-industrial complex to be in the “national interest”, no matter what the cost to the rest of us may be.

America first. That is what Ron Paul’s national defense proposal is all about. And with America he means all Americans, not just the elite. If elected President, Ron Paul will continue his efforts to secure our borders, hunt down the 9/11 terrorist planners (who are still at large), safely withdraw our troops from Iraq and other countries around the world, and finally overhaul the intelligence apparatus in cooperation with intelligence professionals rather than political opportunists.

Ron Paul loves America. He is one of the very few true patriots left in Washington who are actively working on protecting our freedoms, our lives and our dignity.

Join the Ron Paul Revolution and help us put our young men where they belong: back home so they can secure our borders and protect our nation.

  1. I am going to blog and paste Ron Paul to every Obama or Clinton blog. I hope this will help get the word out. I can’t believe more aren’t for you. I live in the state of Texas and many call us Rebels yes we are!! Texas is the most freedom loving state in the Union!

  2. I’ve just given Mr. Paul a serious look for the first time and am very impressed, he is not a “nut” as his opponents would have us believe. His opinions on all the major issues are well thought out and documented. It is surprising that more people are not taking him seriously, but I have to admit that he has simply not gotten his message out, and that, unfortunately, takes oodles of $$$. He needs support from major sources, how to get it is another question.

  3. Now that John McCain is selling out and really pissing me off..Ron PAul seems to be the best choice for president.I just wish the country wasnt so stupid, voting for hillary and obama in the millions, its scary.Id rather have mccain then hillary or obama, but i feel like ron paul would be a wasted vote because it would be helping obama..so im not sure yet..hopefully,maybe..ron paul can run independant to a new party and pick a great vice president, make it a close 3 way race where he has a shot and I am probably gonna vote 4 him.

  4. Okay, I really like Ron Paul and there have even been supporters of Paul who comment on the Obama blogs. We like the Paul supporters, actually…how about showing us a little love back?
I’ve always said if Obama weren’t in it I’d vote for Ron Paul.

  5. I did not know of Ron Paul till a young friend of mine pointed him out! Now I am convinced he is the best thing for America! So, why won’t any of the talk show hosts I listen to willing to take calls from Ron Paul supporters,is he considered a fringe candidate He wouldn’t be if they had given him just 10% of the coverage given to hillary, obama, mccain and the other 9 republicans that are now out of the race

  6. What would the breaking point be for your isolationism? What would it take to get you to go to war abroad? I’m not sure I want to vote for someone who would allow someone like Hitler to take over the world because America comes first?

  7. Hunt down 9/11 terrorist planners? Withdraw from Iraq? (Terrorist planner goes: Oh goody, I’ll just go to Iraq after they leave!)
    Good luck findin’ ‘em!

  8. Isolationism, is that what you think America comes first means?

  9. It would be great if Dr. Ron Paul could find time to visit Czech Republic or speak publicly in US(my apologies if he already did) and support nation which has been decades of 20th century oppressed by USSR. The nation which is 70% against any military base in heart of Europe, regardless if Russian, US or Martian. The nation which is not willing any presence of US radar station, part of the Star wars project, which is planned by sick US and Czech government and which is already starting new round of Cold war.

  10. Ron, you’ve gotta flesh this out. As a former Airman with cross-service experience, I know for a fact that half of our military bases in the US server as little more than career life support for several of your colleagues in the House and the Senate. “Job creation” is the primary reason for our large military, with “credibility” for our elected officials being the other reason. How do you propose to cut our force size without making the voters feel emasculated? How do you limit our involvement in foreign wars when the lessons of history state that they are unavoidable? How do you convince your fellow politicians that a limited government is what they should champion when for nearly fifty years they’ve relied upon a expansionist government?

  11. hey guys.. greetings from Iceland. Just want to say that Ron Paul as president would be the best thing to happen for the American people (and the world). People here in Europe are fed up with the current war-hungry American foreign policy lead by the Bush administration, and the “you are either with us or against us!” attitude. I wish we had more politicians as Ron Paul (and even Dennis Kucinich) that truly care for the nation’s and the world’s well-being in contrast to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and their people, who so clearly have a (not so) hidden agenda.
Although I have never been in the US, unfortunately, I believe that Americans are good people, but need to raise their voices more to keep their government in check.. and first of all, vote for the right people ;) I will be the first to vote for Ron Paul if he runs for the Icelandic presidency haha

  12. Hi guys! Following the voice in my head and heart, as well as the words I’ve read here, I started a myspace page for a Write in Ron Paul campaign. I could use all the help I can get to really get it going. Please let me know ANY suggestions you may have.. I’m VERY excited about it!

  13. I wish McCain would at least pick Ron Paul for a VP. Thats the only way I would feel comfortable voting for him.

  14. DAMIEN America was an isolated country before and in the beginning of WWII. Aparently no one pays attention in their western history classes because Russia defeated Hitler. Well, Russia’s winter defeated Hitler. The US entered with one year left in the European theatre. In addition, we entered the war on the basis that the Japanese attacked the Americans without provocation. This highly differs from our war policy post-WWII, including the Iraq War, as Paul stated above.

  15. Ron, I need more information. Your policy appears to lie somewhere between fighting a defensive war, but you also hint at keeping our troops abroad to hunt down the 911 planners. I’d favor a more Regan style approach: Fund and support those who seek to destroy terrorist groups, and terrorist states. We did this in Afghanistan against the Communists, we can do the same thing against the Taliban.

We should keep a base in Qatar. So long as oil is generating so much wealth for the middle east and Russia, we need to counter any move made to seize sole control of the world’s oil supply and the development of nuclear weapons. Qatar is also well suited to deploy our forces for disaster support. In fact, I’ve been reading about the success of Qatar’s national carrier since the last 90s. Like Ramstien in Germany and Milldenhall in the U.K. it’s a great strategic location.

I have no problem with leaving Iraq, but we have to insure that we don’t abandon our ally as we did with Afghanistan after the Soviet defeat. 911 is a direct result of our failure to follow-through and our leader’s tendency to cherry pick what’s conveniently important, ignoring all the rest.

  16. Dr. Paul, you should be more specific on this. I hear my parents and their friends concerned about this specific stance you take and I myself only question the jobs part and the extent of the scale back. I don’t think being totally isolated is a good thing. We should help all countries in need, ie in other ways. I do hope you clearify this next week or sometime before the election.

ps- I’M STILL WRITING YOU IN/ VOTING FOR YOU!!
