Foreign Policy

Look, we are bankrupt as a nation. Our army marches in Chinese boots, while our air force flies on Saudi oil. We cannot continue to enforce a Pax Americana while our southern border allows illegals and terrorists to pour into our country. And we certainly shouldn’t be footing the defense bill for countries with whom our industries compete in the global marketplace. Bring our soldiers home. Secure America first.

What is Blowback?

If you hit someone and kill their family, they will hate you and probably hit you back in the future.

That’s what blowback is all about. It seems like such a simple concept, but many of Ron Paul’s opponents for the Presidency vehemently denied its validity.

They proclaim that what our military does abroad has no effect on how the citizens of the world feel towards us. The 9/11 terrorists hated our wealth and freedom so intensely that they sacrificed their lives to prove it? (Of course, our government bombing their countries, propping up their dictators and supplying their enemies with money and weapons had nothing to do with it…)

Instead of securing our borders, we’ve been planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression. Our military is spread thin all across the planet, yet we remain involved in dangerous power plays that unnecessarily put the lives of our soldiers at risk. And we brazenly squandered the wealth of our nation as if there were no tomorrow.

It doesn’t make any sense unless you consider increasing the profits of the military-industrial complex to be in the “national interest”, no matter what the cost to the rest of us may be.

America first. That is what Ron Paul‘s national defense proposal is all about. And with America he means all Americans, not just the elite. If elected President, Ron Paul will continue his efforts to secure our borders, safely bring our troops back home, and finally overhaul the intelligence apparatus in cooperation with intelligence professionals rather than political opportunists.

Ron Paul loves America. He is one of the very few true patriots left in Washington who are actively working on protecting our freedoms, our lives and our dignity.

    Ron Paul lives in 18th century when it comes to national defense. He thinks that he can isolate America from the rest of the world. Sorry Ron, a nuclear missile from Iran will able reach NYC in less than an hour.
    And Ron is mistake that the Muslims hate us because of our “colonialism”. He is not aware that Koran commands the Muslims to HATE Christians, Jews and Pagans.
    That it is every Muslims duty to engage in jihad, a war in Allah’s way. That Jihad can fought with sward, pen, voice and money.
    Muslims hate us, because we are in the way of their dream of world domination.

      I would disagree with your assertion that all Muslims hate us. Every religion has its fundamentalists, and most religions have a militant past, it is a fact of history. The issue that is of such a concern to us that Islam has not come to terms with its radicals, as oppossed to Christianity or Judaism, where there is a lot of self-policing. Islamist terrorism is a complicated and nuanced issue, and a cumbersome Western interference in their geopolitical situations is only going to provide them with a common enemy to fight. Considering Iran, only if they develop an ICBM with very advanced propulsion and guidance systems will they be able to hit Manhattan. The most they could do is to bomb Israel or our troops in the area, but let’s be reasonable, Ahmadinejad may be a radical, but he isn’t stupid. Iran would not try such a blatant act of agression when our military is on either side of their border, especially when such an act would rally the US’ Western allies. Finally, I think that we are developing a sufficient TMD system in Romania (among other places) in order to combat such a threat.

        You are right that every religion has it’s fundamentalists, and so does every ideology. However to say that “every religion is the same”, is like saying that “every ideology is the same”. Some ideologies, (including religious ones) not only have fundamentalists, but are themselves are fundamentalist.
        Nazism as such is fundamentalist, and so is Islam.
        Unlike Judaism and Hinduism, which are respectively Jewish and Indian national religion, Islam is universal and seeks to convert the whole world.
        Unlike Christianity, Islam holy war, Jihad, the violent struggle in Allah’s way, the most noble of all religious duties. Unlike the Bible, Koran and Hadith, tells it’s followers that to FIGHT, LIE, DECEIVE, TORTURE, PLUNDER and even RAPE is “GOOD” if it is done for the sake of spreading the rule of Allah.
        Also unlike the funder of Christianity, the founder of Islam himself was murdering, torturing, lying deceiving, raping and engaging is sexual intercourse with 9 years old child.
        Like Jesus in Christianity, Muhammad in Islam, is considered perfect and is supposed to be imitated to the best of their followers’ ability.
        Therefore unlike other religions, Islam as such is alway violent.
        It is not an accident that out of some 56 Muslim majority country NOT ONE is truly democratic, not one has civil liberties, not a single one has decent living standards. And yes,, this includes even Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia (even though some liars like to claim otherwise.)
        Also it is an unfortunate mistake to think that Islamic violence is caused by our provocation, on the contrary, Islamic violence is inherent, Jihad is inherent in Islam, and the main reason we are seeing the increase these days is because Islam has become stronger through the infusion of $1 trillion of Western money into their hands (mostly through oil).
        Islam has been at war with the West since it’s birth 1400 years ago.
        Ron Paul does not know the history and theology of Islam. (I don’t blame him, but it is a fact.)
        Finally destruction of Israel (the Little Satan) will affect America gravely. It will embolden the Muslims and encourage the next step, destruction of America (The Big Satan).
        The attack on NYC does not happen through advanced rocket, it can happen by a boat with a nuclear load in N.Y.C. harbor. There are hundreds of other ways this can happen, too.
        Ron Paul is anti-Israeli verging on antisemitic. Unfortunately he does not understand that Israel is just a canary in the coal mine. It is naive to say “who cares about the canary, let it die”.
        Too bad that his views of international politics are so naive, because the guy’s understanding of economical needs of this country is correct.

    The U.S. has adopted Imperialism for its foreign policy ever since at least the Spanish American War. Lies, profits for the elite, and the desire for foreign intervention have brought us into every single war and conflict since then. Companies have made fortunes on the lives of American soldiers and the taxpayers money. We are misled into these wars whether it is investments being protected in foreign countries, private contractors providing services and products for a war, or protecting our “Allies” who don’t mind how many Americans die protecting them. The U.S. backs monsters in other nations (Shah of Iran, Saddam Hussein, etc..) then later claims we are forced to intervene.
    We should lead by quiet example by showing peace and non interventionism.

    I think alot of people on this topic are not understanding Ron Paul the way I am. The way I understand him on this stance is that America needs to stop pushing our idealism on other cultures. These other cultures such as what the Middle East believes in is Ok as long as they are not causing problems for the rest of world. Their culture has believed in what they believe before Jesus came into being. Why are we trying to change them into our way of thinking. Let them live there lives and their culture as they may as long as they are not promoting violence. On that topic I do believe we are the cause of increasing terroism. Why do I think this? Because I believe those nations that think differently then us don’t want to be like us I think that when a country or a region is causing problems with the rest of the world we DO need to take military force to knock out the trouble makers pronto then move our troops back out, and not try to push our ways on them. If they are interested in our culture or form of government or whatever then they like what other nations have done can overthrow their government or oust out their dictator and form their own government. A perfect example is Chile.

    NEWS ALERT: SECOND AMENDMENT NOW BEING NULLIFIED. Prominent Politician now engaged in circumventing U.S. Constitution (Bill of Rights) by establishing a binding treaty between U.S. and other countries. Since ratified treaties supersede individual rights, protected in the Constitution, the ‘Treaty Route’ is being employed to nullify the Second Amendment. Details developing —

    Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced the Obama Administration would be working hand in glove with the UN to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty.” Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN Small Arms Treaty is a massive, GLOBAL gun control plan. Ultimately, the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens.

    I agree 100% with Dr. Paul’s argument here. The United States is practically bankrupt. We have urgent needs here at home. Our military aggression and adventures overseas have not only cost us trillions that we can’t afford, they have put us more at risk, not made us safer.

    A couple of others have asked about Dr. Paul’s support for Israel. I hope that Dr. Paul is ready to stop writing blank checks for Israel. U.S. support for Israel and its aggression against Palestinians and other Arabs is what led to 9/11. Someone has said that Iran is a threat that we need to deal with. To whom is Iran a threat? Its missiles can’t cross the Atlantic. And if we get out of the Middle East and mind our own business, the Iranians will have no reason to want to attack us.

    We are in Afghanistan and the Middle East for two reasons: 1) defending Israel from the consequences of its aggression; and 2) defending the oil supply for Europe, Japan, and ourselves. Folks, we can’t afford to keep doing this. We need to wean ourselves off of overseas oil. Oil supplies are about to peak anyway. Instead of spending trillions and killing millions to maintain access to a dwindling supply of overseas oil, we need to cut our consumption and develop alternative energy here at home.

    As for Israel, we can’t afford to keep defending them. I want the Israelis to leave happy peaceful lives, just like I want all the world’s people to live happy peaceful lives. But we can’t afford to make that happen for everyone in the world, and we can’t afford to try to make it happen for just Israel (at its neighbors’ expense) any more. In my opinion, the best hope for the Israelis is to make peace with their neighbors by offering to share the land and its resources. They’ve taken so much from the Arabs. The only real solution is a one-state solution: A state in which Jews and Arabs have equal rights. But that is the business of the Israeli Jews and their neighbors. We are running out of money and will soon be bankrupt if we stay on this path. The best thing that we can do for the Israelis is to let them know that we can no longer afford to defend them and that they will need to fight their own battles or find their own peace with their neighbors.

    The word Naive comes to mind here…The world is a much more complex place than your 20 word answers imply. Does the name Neville Chamberlain come to mind…same sort of thought pattern. Iran not a credible threat? Those words will be heard a lot in years to come if we ignore them as the threat they are now.
    What would make your world view different from the president we have now?

      Listening to these goons we have in Washington D.C. you’d think the world was full of terrorists (except for them), ha! False flags are their expertise so they can take our liberties and freedoms away. Catch on to the truth. The U.S. federal government along with Wall Street and the Fed collaborated and just performed the greatest robbery of our times! it still goes on with job losses and home foreclosures. Banks and corps are making a killing. Worldwide terrorists. Get rid of corporations, the shadow government, the FED, the financial system, the puppet govt and America, false science and the rest of the world will get back to being ourselves again, terrorist-free and prosperous. This world has enough good for all to share. It’s a false believe in scarcity that hides the truth…that it is governments, the fed, the shadow govt (Bilderberg, Trilateral Commission, NAFTA, WHO, U.N., Council on Foreign Relations, the industrial military complex) and corporations who manipulate the world’s resources so they cannot be properly shared among all of us.

      What you get your history lesson out of a textbook? What you are referring to is the Munich Accord, which was signed at a time that England was not prepared for war. Nearly 1 year later, after Hitler continued his policy of aggression, England declared war on Germany.

      As to what caused the conditions that allowed Hitler to come into power in the first place, you only have to look at WWI and in particular the excessively punishing Treaty of Versailles which created the economic conditions that allow someone like that to come into power.

    I hope we will never drop Israel from funding, as we spent many years helping to build up a most precious of allies and friends who were very deserving of our help. I can see some of the genius of some viewpoints of not funding military spending of certain countries and remaining neutral in conflicts,economic woes,ect,however there would probably be severe reprecussions to eliminating funding to a true ally like this people on behalf of their lack of resources and their reliance upon us, we have no trade imbalance with them, and they have a very good human rights record accordingly comparatively speaking. If we are so heavily dependant on foreign produced goods it would probably be better to have the israelis produce gooods for us instead of hostile nations. We should drastically cut spending to the united nations, they take at least 10 billion annually from us and are polarized against our best interests,freedoms, and republic and are largely unaccountaded for in certain aspects of accountability as globalistas. As well Israel makes the most of the money sent, and they develope key military and electronic security technologies among many others of world class quality, and they are probably one of the world’s leading economies effeciency and intellectuality wise per capita of nations donated to. They as a rule never start wars, and are very friendly and benevolent,if we yanked their yearly financial help it would probably spiral out of control into war because their success stabilizes the region morally outside of globalist interventionist peace talks tactics which have only stirred up trouble historicly. They can provide jobs not only for needy Israelis, but also for other palestinians in the region who have also sought work there. Instead of tightening down the ratchet on an allready beleagered nation such as this, we should at least help more financially instead of trying to tell them what to do in their international affairs-like other people lately,which is a recipie for disaster. I dont think that Israel needs an all controlling sugar daddy,they just need understanding, and venture capital, as well as resources, maybe our products should say Made in Israel and not made in China.

      Sir u are absolutely correct. Israel would thrive economically, and peacefully without USA’s intervention. If the israeliss can invent uav’s anti rpg/missle systems and 100 upgrades to the f-16′s why do they need usa’s foreign aid. They are leading in all types of innovation in the world because they are now more free market capitalistic nation tht broke out of the shackles of capitalism. as a refreence you should read the book Israels economic miracle. it shows how they were the least affected by the worlds economic problems. And to all the people that say isrrael can’t survive without foreign aid from the Usa. plzz just look how they turned a sand dune to a paridise. and all the foreign aid goes to the defence budget that does not help out any start up companys.

      U.S. Economy Grinds To Halt As Nation Realizes Money Just A Symbolic, Mutually Shared Illusion

      “WASHINGTON—The U.S. economy ceased to function this week after unexpected existential remarks by Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke shocked Americans into realizing that money is, in fact, just a meaningless and intangible social construct.

      “It’s just an illusion,” a wide-eyed Bernanke added as he removed bills from his wallet and slowly spread them out before him. “Just look at it: Meaningless pieces of paper with numbers printed on them. Worthless.”

    No one is arguing that there are large groups of Islamic extremists in the Middle East, and indeed all over the world, but you must remember that we created the extremists by radicalizing the Muslims in Afghanistan to fight against the USSR back in the Cold War and during our engagement in the 1st Gulf War. Now our Military has currently invaded and occupied two middle eastern countries, a policy which further radicalizes more Muslims causing greater conflict. The one thing you fail to realize is that you are radicalized and genocidal: The same ideology you claim to “fight” against. Those thoughts and actions do the exact opposite of your goal and further extend the tide of radical Muslims and eventually other peoples. We must withdraw, seal our borders tight, and defend our nation from home now before over extension of military power and political & economic corruption destroy us all. RON PAUL 2012

    Now I know why they changed the name of the War Department to the Dep. of Defense. WE need to stop all foreign actions and bring all our troops back home. Of course that will neve happen because oif the billions the industrial military complex will lose. Our government will increase the rhetoric and increase their fear mongering to creat a chronically paranoid population that freely gives away the few remaining liberties we have.

    The US is already a police state under a veneer of democracy.

It’s time to take notice of what these people are doing in your individual states. They are using environmental B.S. science as a means to keep Americans out of the forest and other National Parks. And, to control and enslave the American people. if you question that statement. Please read the Omnibus land grab bill. “GOOGLE” it. you will see we are losing more and more land each and every day. Manual engine lathes are necessities in any tool room and machine shop left in America.

    CNC lathes are too expensive to set up, program and de-bug to be cost effective for most prototype and low quantity production. Tooling and fixturing especially are in this category.

    Also, the rest of the machine tool industry has been greatly harmed.

    “All of the critical components of our modern weapons systems, which include our F-16s and F/A 18s, our M-1 tanks, our military computers – and I could go on and on – come from East Asian industries….Some day, we might view that with concern and rightly so.”

    Admiral James Lyons
    Commander U.S. Pacific Fleet
    Responding to Defense Dependency: Policy Ideas and the American Defense Industrial Base, 1996
    p. 11

    “The Bush Administration was forced to intervene with foreign governments on over thirty occasions to guarantee delivery of critical military parts. As one high-level administration official commented: “If the foreign governments were neutral or were not disposed to help us out, we could have run into some real problems. We were sweating bullets over it and the military was sweating bullets too.”

    Erik R. Pages
    Responding to Defense Dependence, 1996
    p. 17

    “Foreigners today control the U.S. companies responsible for the heat shield of the D-5 Trident missile and the flight controls of the B-2 bomber, the F-117 Stealth, and the F-22, the backbone of the twenty-first-century air force.
    Overseas factories are far more vulnerable to espionage, labor problems, sabotage, political dictation – and attack by enemy or terrorist forces. There is no guarantee that U.S. secrets are safe abroad. A clear and present danger exists when corporations with allegiance to no country gain virtual monopolies over items critical to U.S. security. During World War II, Stalin’s spies and our own homegrown traitors looted vital defense secrets, including those related to the atom bomb. Given this experience, for us to allow technology indispensable to our security to be kept outside the United States, vulnerable to theft or denial, is perilous folly.”

    Pat Buchanan
    The Great Betrayal
    p. 320-321

    In October 2003, Dell Computer was chosen by the Boeing Corporation to serve a five-year contract that will provide Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (one of the world’s largest space and defense corporations) with all of its desktop and notebook computers. Dell also holds contracts with West Point Military Academy, the Air Force, Army, and Navy. Michael Dell creates training and simulation programs for the Army, and has pointed out that upwards of 85 percent of military personnel training today is done through computers. His business has done well to supply the military with training programs and the hardware needed to run them.

    Barry Lynn, the former Executive Editor of Global Business magazine, examined this growing dependence on foreign-based suppliers in the June, 2002 issue of Harper’s. He reports that a large portion of America’s premier corporations have transformed themselves into little more than “virtual companies” that rely on a complex and far flung network of suppliers spread throughout the world to make the goods they sell. To illustrate this disintegration of the integrated manufacturing process that so long characterized the U.S. economy, Lynn reports on Dell Computer, a leading U.S. computer manufacturer and defense contractor, that in reality is little more than an assembler of foreign made components. While the company assembles its computers in the United States, the 4,500 parts used in one of its finished products come from dozens of suppliers clustered in China, Taiwan, Korea, and Malaysia. And although the lack of a single component can slow or stop the entire manufacturing line, Dell maintains an inventory sufficient for only 4 days production. If a typhoon, fire, revolution, strike, war, or any other event interrupts that long supply line across the Pacific for more than 96 hours, and if alternative parts cannot be located within that period and delivered to Texas, production ceases on the 97th hour.

    Pat Choate & Edward Miller
    The U.S. Industrial Base and China
    A Congressional Report, 2001
    p.7

    No aspect of computer and peripheral manufacturing has become more globalized than disk-drive production. In 1985, 93 percent of U.S.-owned disk-drive production was located in the United States. By 1990, two-thirds of these companies’ assembly was being performed in Southeast Asia, and three-fourths of all disk-drive parts were starting to be made in the region. By 1995, more than 60 percent of all global jobs in hard disk-drive production were created in Southeast Asia, including a rapidly growing share of sophisticated parts like motors and heads.

    Seagate Corp., for example, had located 14 of its 24 factories around the world in developing Asia – five in Thailand, four in Malaysia, three in Singapore, and one each in Indonesia and China as of 1995. These Asian factories employed more than 85 percent of the company’s global workforce. Seagate had kept much of the higher-end work in disk-drive manufacturing in the United States and Europe – principally the assembly of high-end drives and most component manufacturing, product and component development, prototyping, and initial process engineering. Even the low end of disk-drive manufacturing, however, is sophisticated work by any reasonable measure, and virtually all of this work is done in low-income Asia. Seagate’s simplest assembly is performed in Indonesia. More advanced assembly is done in Thailand and Malaysia, and Thailand is handling most of the final assembly of all types of drives, including the highest-end drives. Even some of the highest-end manufacturing work has been moving to low-income Asia. Seagate is now even making a wide variety of advanced components in Southeast Asia, and its Penang, Malaysia, facilities reportedly are producing MR heads, which incorporate the most complex technology in current disk-drive manufacturing. In addition, a McKinsey & Company study of Seagate’s globalization showed that its moves into new Asian countries has been heavily influenced by the lower labor costs offered.

    “Another example is the rare earth mineral market. Rare earth magnets are used in missile guidance systems. In 1992, Chinese Premier Deng Xiaoping announced the expansion of China’s role in the rare earth market, proclaiming “There is oil in the Middle East; there is rare earth in China.” Thus, the Chinese government embarked on a detailed strategy to control the rare earth market. As part of this strategy, two Chinese firms acquired a U.S. rare earth magnet producer. In 1995, San Huan New Materials and
    China Non-ferrous Materials Corporation partnered with U.S. investors to purchase Indiana-based Magnequench, whose parent company was General Motors. Magnequench manufactures rare
    earth magnets and magnet powders, used in computer hard drives, a variety of other consumer electronics, and guidance systems. Due to concerns about the defense applications of the magnets, CFIUS
    reviewed the case, yet approved the transaction partially based on a commitment that the Indiana facility would remain in the United States. Eventually the whole facility was moved to China. This deal
    and subsequent deals around the globe have allowed China to come closer to cornering the market in rare earth minerals. Of equal concern is the transfer of technology, including patents, allowing
    China to control development of next-generation products using rare earth minerals. Additionally, the recent bid for Unocal by the Chinese company CNOOC may have been another piece of this strategy, as Unocal owns Molycorp, a U.S. rare earth mineral mine.

    Since 1995, the Commerce Department has done fewer than a dozen defense industrial capability assessments. In 1992, the Commerce Department did one of the first studies of U.S. reliance on foreign suppliers for critical components in weapon systems. In that study, three representative Navy systems were chosen for analysis – the HARM (high-speed anti-radiation missile); the Mark-48 ADCAP (advanced capabilities) torpedo; and the Verdin communication system. Almost 12,000 companies participated in this study. What the Commerce Department researchers found is the supply matrix is not pyramid-shaped, but diamond-shaped. This means the Navy had a core of sub-tier suppliers that were unknown and thus “could be bottlenecks during a surge in production”. The study identified 115 distinct items where a foreign dependency existed, including high-tech items such as semiconductor ceramic packaging and needle roller bearing wire rod.

    In October 2001, the DoD released a “Study on the Impact of Foreign Sourcing of Systems”. The DoD collected and evaluated information on eight weapons systems from subcontractors – these responses were all voluntary.

    The average response rate for first tier contractors was 58%. For third tier subcontractors it was 39%. The DoD didn’t investigate below third tier subcontratcors. Yet, the diamond shaped supply matrix found in the Commerce study exists at those levels – among those who supply low-cost, commodity items. This level of subcontractor depends on commodity technologies, much of which comes from factories in China and the countries that surround it.

    In 2001, the U.S. dependence on foreign defense-related goods was as follows:

    Resin, synth rubber & fibers……….62%
    Pharmaceuticals & medicine……….72%
    Chemical products……….66%
    Rubber products……….61%
    Alumina & alum processing……….61%
    Ag & construction mach……….52%
    Metalworking mach……….51%
    Engines, turbo, power eqpt……….56%
    Computer equipment……….70%
    Communications equipment……….67%
    Audio & video equipment……….70%
    Semiconductors & elect……….64%
    Navix, measure, med instru……….62%
    Magnetic & optical media……….56%
    Electrical equipment……….61%
    Electrical equip & comp……….61%
    Motor vehicle parts……….58%
    Med equipment & supplies……….52%

    In addition, imports represented 46% of all basic chemicals and 47% of all industrial machinery purchased in the United States.

    A Congressional Report, 2001

    “From 1990-97, an incredible 65 million square feet of industrial space in the American defense/aerospace industries, was closed down and the advanced machine-tool reservoir within it, auctioned off. National employment in the aerospace industry fell from 900,000 to 550,000—by 40%—in those few years, and has fallen more slowly but continuously since. We know this from our data; I also know this from talking to the auctioneer companies who sold off the machine tools, who say, “This was a scary time” for the nation.

    During 2004, Internet auctions were held at military bases in California, by which most of the “national defense reserve” of the United States was sold off, as if on E-Bay. This national defense reserve consisted primarily of a reservoir of advanced machine tools “packages” for various lines of industrial production. After World War II, it had been preserved and maintained by act of Congress—the National Industrial Reserve Act of 1948—expanded by the 1973 National Defense Reserve Act of 1973; modernized in Defense Appropriations annual bills. But amendments in 1992—when Dick Cheney was Defense Secretary—and then in 2002, focused instead on the Defense Secretary’s responsibility to declare this reserve surplus and sell it off, relying instead on private machine-tool capabilities—which had themselves been auctioned off continuously during the 1990s. Under Defense Secretary Rumsfeld’s “military modernization” doctrine, the machine-tool reserve was surplus and was sold off.

    The third leg of the United States’ once-pre-eminent machine-tooling capabilities was auto.

    Now, in 2006-07, we face the scheduled closing down of at least 65 major auto plants, taking into account closings announced only by General Motors, Ford, and their biggest suppliers Delphi Corp., Visteon Corp., and Tower Automotive Corp. Many of the other major suppliers have been thrown into bankruptcy in the crisis, such as Dana Corp., Collins and Aikman Corp., and Johnson Controls, as well as Delphi and Tower Automotive—but their shutdowns are not shown here……

    More major plants are being closed down in two years, 2006-07, than in the previous three decades. Some 75,000 skilled industrial jobs are being eliminated directly, and including the indirect effects on the supplier industries, 300,000 skilled jobs will disappear if this is allowed to proceed, representing a third of the entire auto sector.

    The closing plants constitute nearly 80 million square feet of capacity, most of it full of versatile machine tools. This is more than the frightening shutdown of 60 million square feet of aerospace capacity in eight years during the 1990s. And it is the only large, diversified reservoir of machine-tool capability—and matching workforce skills—which remains to this country.”

    Ron Paul and his free trade religion would speed up the destruction of our defense industries. Even Adam Smith didn’t condone this.

    Start with machine tools, the tools that make all other tools that create industry.

    The Japanese are pretty adept at industrial espionage and hiding trade violations. The actual subsidies to the Japanese machine tool industry were documented at $985 million PER YEAR, when the Japanese government was admitting to only $500,000 annually. $985 million a year is a very substantial sum for an industry as small as the machine tool industry (U.S. sales $1.8 billion in 1983). So substantial that it allowed the Japanese to export thousands of NC machine tools into the U.S. during a recession in the 1970′s:

    “Though the Japanese began this process in the late 1950′s, it was not until 1980 that they were ready to actually challenge American and European machine tool manufacturers on their home ground. As late as 1976, the Japanese were a negligible presence in the U.S. machine tool market, holding only 3.7 percent of it, and about the same level in Europe. But their opportunity came in the late 1970′s when the worldwide demand for these products slumped as world economics headed into a prolonged recession.

    While U.S. and European manufacturers were cutting production, laying off workers, and in general retrenching, Japan’s machine tool makers did something unusual – and seemingly irrational – from a traditional business viewpoint. With an enormous amount of new funds supplied from some unknown outside source, they expanded their production. They turned out thousands of numerically controlled (NC) machine tool products even though they could not sell them. Akimitsu Ohko, research director of the Japanese Machine Tool Builders Association, reported that in 1981 there was an inventory of 1,000 unsold Japanese-made NC machining centers in the U.S.

    At first it looked like a planning gaffe, but the Japanese had actually moved sagely. As the recession ended and demand for these machines increased, Japanese machine tools were being unloaded in America and elsewhere at discounts of up to $100,000 per machine. By the end of 1981, the targeting campaign bore fruit: Japanese makers of NC machining centers, the leading component of the machine tool market, had taken over a 50 percent share of the American market”

    Marvin J. Wolf
    The Japanese Conspiracy, 1983
    p. 60-61

    Back when America had tariffs, this would never have happened as the price of the Japanese machines would be too high to compete. But our tariffs as part of the free trade religion, are all but destroyed in America.

    Today, not one single manual engine lathe is made in America.

      Why is no one worried about the LHC cranking up and annhilating the world? Because as yet no one has offered any substantive proof that any such thing would ever happen. However, I will cook up something that feeds your conspiratorial mindset if you like.

    Strictly speaking, the Constitution does not allow for certain things regarding the military. For example, we aren’t supposed to HAVE surplus taxes taken out for a navy except for during wartime. Obviously, such an oversight puts us at a serious disadvantage similar to situations during WWII. Today other countries have a much greater capacity to strike our shores than they did in 1941. That of course is the reason Jefferson recanted on one of his biggest positions in the struggle with the Barbary pirates.
    Naturally, we have seen the need time and again to have a standing force capable of waging war at any given time. But we certainly should not be fighting proxy wars for untold reasons around the world at the expense of the American people. Such behavior only serves to further the system of false fiscal growth and increasingly alienates developing nations toward our country and subsequently our citizenry.
    That stated, when a genuine threat is posed toward the American people from an outside force the Congress should do their job and wage a war so that the President can do his job and conduct it as a war should be conducted. We find ourselves bogged down everywhere with “nation building”, and “police actions” where we implement “security forces” in order to deal with malcontents on foreign soil. If we only sacrificed our young men and women during DECLARED wars it would be much easier to justify taking the gloves off and waging a total war because the consensus would be found in necessity. When a Constitutionally legal declaration of war is made there is no such thing as collateral damage because the entire nation bears the burden of guilt.

    If the United States of America was to wage a REAL war there would be no 4, 5, 9 years of troop presence because we could eliminate the threats in a matter of weeks or months without concern for public perception. Similarly, were we to implement the full force of the U.S. military capability, few countries would pretend to be on the same playing field with us. The knowledge that we do not wish to fight but will wreak destruction upon an opponent’s entire nation would be sufficient enough to maintain peace with the vast majority of the planet. The few nations that could compete are sophisticated enough to maintain their own people generally speaking. China, Russia, Canada etc. would not condone people like Al Qaeda operating from safe havens within their society any more than we condone nutcases like Timothy McVeigh.

    WHAT’S GONE WRONG?
    Unheard of wealth concentrates into very few, largely undeserving hands. Americans work harder and produce more than ever but increasingly fall into debt and bankruptcy while corruption rules, and predators plunder society by merely shuffling papers. Less than 1% of the population now owns about 50% of the wealth, and receives 17% of the income! The Lost Science of Money shows how a false concept of money allowed it to happen, and tells how to reverse it.
    SECRET POWER UNMASKED
    Here are the keys that unlock the mystery of the money power – the hidden force secretly exercised by those holding society’s monetary reins.
    The Lost Science of Money exposes the mythology created to protect those who are embezzling from society, under cover of a deceptive ideology of money. This group has immorally used economic theory as a tool of class war for the past three hundred years, while screaming accusations of “class warfare” against those who question their power!

    The author provides the weapons needed to protect self, family, nation, and humanity from the predations of this gang, that has shrouded itself under cover of “econo-speak” for so long.
    These ideas are presented accurately, but in “down-to-earth” language, without the confusing economic jargon that has usually served to obfuscate the subject. Historical cases with 119 illustrations help to convey the author’s unique message.

    A GENERATION MISLED
    The gates protecting America have been left undefended. September 11th demonstrated only one aspect of this problem. Our people have been under monetary attack from within and from abroad for most of our history, and the physical, financial and psychological damage has far exceeded the terrible losses at New York’s Twin Towers.

    An entire generation has been led astray into market worship and other forms of religious fundamentalism.

    A dysfunctional media focuses on the elections and sex habits of politicians while the real outcomes in society are determined behind the scenes by the structure of the nation’s money system.

    This problem goes much deeper than accounting and stock fraud, and even beyond the graduate schools of business that have inculcated such criminal behavior. The deeper cause lies hidden in the structurally corrupt core of our monetary and banking system and our schools of economics. It arises from the falsehoods they have spread on the nature of money, allowing their patrons to control the money power, and in turn to dominate our society, deforming humanity in the process.

    Those who really want to get to the bottom of the problem will find this book’s message timely and valuable. See the Table of Contents below.

    HRES 417 IH

    111th CONGRESS

    1st Session

    H. RES. 417

    Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that President Barack Obama should immediately work to reverse damaging and illegal actions taken by the Bush/Cheney Administration and collaborate with Congress to proactively prevent any further abuses of executive branch power.

    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

    May 7, 2009

    Ms. BALDWIN submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committees on Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Select Intelligence (Permanent Select), for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

    RESOLUTION

    Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that President Barack Obama should immediately work to reverse damaging and illegal actions taken by the Bush/Cheney Administration and collaborate with Congress to proactively prevent any further abuses of executive branch power.

    Whereas over the past several years, serious questions have been raised about the conduct of high ranking Bush/Cheney Administration officials in relation to some of the most basic elements of our democracy: respect for the rule of law, the principle of checks and balances, and the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Bill of Rights;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration misled the American public and the U.S. Congress regarding the threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and alleged, despite all evidence to the contrary, a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda, and this deceit dragged our country into a preemptive and unjustified war that has taken the lives of more than 4,000 U.S. troops, injured 30,000 more, and will cost our Nation more than a trillion dollars;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration undermined national security by manipulating and exaggerating evidence of Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities despite no real evidence that Iran had the intention or capability of attacking the U.S., and then deliberately downplayed the December 2007 National Intelligence Estimate that reported with `high confidence’ that Iran stopped developing nuclear weapons in 2003 because of international pressure;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration undertook a broad assault on civil liberties through the suspension of habeas corpus and claiming the power to declare any person an `enemy combatant,’ blatantly ignoring the Geneva Convention protections that the U.S. helped create, ratify, and which carry the weight of law;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration endorsed the torture and rendition of prisoners in violation of stated American policy and values, as well as international law, and then destroyed videotapes which may have substantiated such torture;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration violated the Fourth Amendment and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 by spying on Americans without a court order or oversight;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration abused the state secrets privilege in recent legal challenges regarding warrantless wiretapping, torture, and rendition, and this administration’s use of the state secrets privilege was to the detriment of the rights of private litigants harmed by egregious misconduct, as well as Americans’ trust in the judicial system;

    Whereas Bush/Cheney Administration officials consistently impeded congressional investigations into allegations of wrongdoing by refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas;

    Whereas the Bush/Cheney Administration claims that then-senior presidential advisers were immune from congressional subpoenas impeded congressional oversight, undermined the rule of law, damaged our democracy, and were rejected by a U.S. District Court;

    Whereas U.S. Attorneys pursued politically motivated prosecutions in violation of the law, and allegedly at the direction of the Bush/Cheney Administration;

    Whereas Bush/Cheney Administration officials in the Department of Justice systematically violated the law and committed misconduct in basing hiring decisions for career prosecutor positions, detailees to senior Department offices, and immigration judgeships on the applicants’ political affiliations and view;

    Whereas it appears Bush/Cheney Administration officials intentionally revealed the identity of Valerie Plame Wilson as a covert agent of the CIA for political retribution, and then intentionally obstructed justice by disseminating false information through the White House press office;

    Whereas President Bush showed contempt for the legislative branch and disregard for the law through the excessive expansion of presidential power in misusing signing statements that declared his intent to ignore provisions of legislation he signed into law;

    Whereas Bush/Cheney Administration officials systematically shielded from access and destroyed public documents relevant to the conduct of the Administration by utilizing non-governmental e-mail accounts for official communications;

    Whereas Vice President Cheney consistently placed self-interest over serving the American people, exemplified by his claim that the Office of the Vice President is not an entity within the executive branch for the alleged purpose of shielding the activities of his office from public scrutiny;

    Whereas President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and other Bush/Cheney Administration officials were presented with ample opportunities to collaborate with Congress and reverse the above listed damaging and abusive actions;

    Whereas despite these opportunities, they instead chose to show contempt for the Constitution and the legislative branch, compelling Americans and Congress to look to the next administration for executive branch accountability;

    Whereas, on November 4, 2008, Americans elected President of the United States Barack Obama;

    Whereas, on January 20, 2009, President Obama stood before the American people and took an oath of office, swearing to `. . . preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States’;

    Whereas this commitment and obligation is so fundamental to our democracy that our Nation’s founders proscribed this oath in our Constitution;

    Whereas no President or Congress has the authority to override that document, whereby `We the People’ conferred upon the branches of government limited and defined power, and provided for meaningful checks and balances;

    Whereas the actions taken by President Obama will impact the conduct of future Presidents, perhaps for generations;

    Whereas President Obama has already begun work to reaffirm American values of justice and freedom;

    Whereas President Obama issued a January 22, 2009, executive order requiring that Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed within one year and that until its closure, conditions of confinement at Guantanamo must comply with Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions and all other applicable laws;

    Whereas President Obama issued a January 22, 2009, executive order to promote the safe, lawful, and humane treatment of individuals in United States custody by prohibiting any interrogation technique or approach, or any treatment related to interrogation, that is not authorized by and listed in Army Field Manual, and reaffirms that all terrorist suspects held by the United States abroad are protected under Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions;

    Whereas President Obama issued a January 22, 2009, executive order to establish a Special Task Force on Detainee Disposition to thoroughly review detention policy options and provide a report to the President within 6 months;

    Whereas President Obama stated in his February 24, 2009, remarks to the Joint Session of Congress, `without exception or equivocation that the United States of America does not torture’;

    Whereas President Obama issued a March 9, 2009, Memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies on Presidential Signing Statements to clarify his intention to issue signing statements `to address constitutional concerns only when it is appropriate to do so as a means of discharging my constitutional responsibilities’ and to outline steps to promote greater transparency and accountability in issuing signing statements;

    Whereas President Obama’s efforts to renew America must include restoring executive branch accountability through proactively preventing future abuses of power by his or future administrations; and

    Whereas the actions detailed below may assist in his work to restore the public’s faith in our Government: Now, therefore, be it

    Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that President Obama should take the necessary steps to do the following–

    (1) AFFIRM OUR NATION’S COMMITMENT TO UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES- President Obama must immediately and publicly reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to the rule of law, the principle of checks and balances, respect for the legislative process, and the fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Bill of Rights.

    (2) FULLY INVESTIGATE BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS’ ALLEGED CRIMES AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY ILLEGAL ACTS- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional oversight efforts to establish an independent investigation, as well as to address potential statute of limitation concerns, in order to hold all Bush/Cheney Administration officials accountable for any crimes they may have committed.

    (3) HOLD ACCOUNTABLE BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS WHO SHOWED OR SHOW CONTEMPT FOR THE LEGAL DUTY TO COMPLY WITH CONGRESSIONAL SUBPOENAS- President Obama must fully support Congress’ constitutionally rooted right of access to the information it needs to perform its legislative and oversight functions enunciated in Article I of the Constitution.

    (4) HOLD ACCOUNTABLE BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS WHO DISCLOSED THE IDENTITY OF ANY COVERT INTELLIGENCE AGENT- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to ensure that the disclosure of the identity of any United States intelligence agent could give rise to criminal liability.

    (5) HOLD ACCOUNTABLE BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS WHO PURSUED POLITICALLY MOTIVATED PROSECUTIONS- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to restore faith in the American justice system by investigating and censuring any officials who engage in misconduct in Federal office.

    (6) ENSURE THAT ANY BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL GUILTY OF A WAR CRIME IS PROSECUTED UNDER THE WAR CRIMES ACT AND THE ANTI-TORTURE ACT- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to repeal the redefinition of grave abuses of Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions included in the Military Commissions Act of 2006, which limits the scope of the original War Crimes Act and makes this repeal retroactively operable to the beginning of the invasion of Iraq. President Obama must also cooperate fully with congressional investigations into the lack of prosecutions under the War Crimes Act and the Federal Anti-Torture Act despite countless allegations of serious violations.

    (7) AFFIRM THAT IT IS THE SOLE LEGAL RIGHT OF CONGRESS TO DECLARE WAR- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to tighten the standards for when a declaration of war is required for military action.

    (8) CRIMINALIZE LYING TO CONGRESS AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC ABOUT THE REASONS FOR GOING TO WAR- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to strengthen Federal perjury laws to prohibit the issuance of false statements, concealment, or false documentation in any matter related to a presidential request for a declaration of war.

    (9) RESTORE THE WRIT OF HABEAS CORPUS AS AN ESSENTIAL PRINCIPLE OF OUR DEMOCRACY- President Obama must reaffirm our Nation’s treaty obligations under the Geneva Conventions and ensure all individuals held by the United States have access to the courts to petition for a writ of habeas corpus.

    (10) ENSURE TORTURE IS UNIFORMLY PROHIBITED UNDER UNITED STATES LAW- While recognizing that President Obama has taken important steps in asserting his position that torture is antithetical to American values, he must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to codify strong anti-torture language and approve uniform standards for interrogation techniques applicable to individuals under control or custody of the United States Government.

    (11) ENSURE RENDITION IS UNIFORMLY PROHIBITED UNDER UNITED STATES LAW- President Obama must cooperate fully with congressional efforts to outlaw torture `outsourcing’ by prohibiting the direct or indirect transfer or return of persons by the U.S. for the purpose of detention, interrogation, trial, or otherwise to a country listed by the Secretary of State as supporting torture, cruel, or degrading treatment used in detention or interrogation of individuals.

    (12) RESPONSIBLY CLOSE THE GUANTANAMO BAY DETENTION CAMP- While President Obama has boldly declared his intention to close Guantanamo by January 2010, he must do everything in his power to ensure that all suspected terrorists held at Guantanamo are immediately tried in fair judicial proceedings and are not subjected to trial by secret evidence. He must also engage the international community to swiftly ensure the release of innocent detainees, including the Chinese Uighurs.

    (13) ENSURE THAT AMERICANS CAN BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THEIR GOVERNMENT- President Obama must guarantee that the state secrets privilege shall not constitute grounds for dismissal of a case or claim and instead require independent judicial review of claims of state secrets privilege by executive branch officials.

    (14) IMMEDIATELY TAKE AFFIRMATIVE STEPS TO PROTECT ALL BUSH/CHENEY ADMINISTRATION DOCUMENTS- President Obama must publicly reaffirm that the Office of the Vice President is part of the executive branch.

    (15) PUBLICLY REVIEW POTENTIAL ABUSES OF THE PRESIDENTIAL PARDON PROCESS- President Obama must collaborate fully with Congress to investigate the granting of presidential pardons and articulate comprehensive standards to guide future presidential pardons.

    (16) FURTHER REFORM THE USE OF PRESIDENTIAL SIGNING STATEMENTS- While President Obama has affirmed his intention to issue signing statements sparingly and with a high degree of transparency, he must commit to providing all signing statements for publication, affirm Congress’ right to participate in court proceedings regarding the constitutionality of any presidential signing statements, and ensure that Congress can obtain testimony from administration officials who may attempt to claim executive privilege to explain or justify any signing statements.

    This last Sunday lunch time an item was reported on a “talking heads” News magazine programme called ‘The McCloughlin Report’ on PBS broadcasting and it showed President OBAMA proposing that the United Nations, form their own standing military Force, under direct Command and Control of the UN Security Council. If this were to be created, it would be the ideal asset to deploy on US soil, in order to do the bidding of the globalists, ie, remove weapons and intern law abiding American citizens. Many americans in Law enforcement and the military, are loyal to the US Constitution and would find it very hard performing tasks against fellow americans that were unconstitutional. A foreign soldier however, would have little knowledge of the US Constitution, or the 1st or second amendment and would act on orders of the command structure, without much thought.

    Practice a Little Preventative Medicine …and Stop Our Government NOW.

    I know many of us are justifiably complaining about issues with our government. Some of us are feeling there is little that we can do to actually see an immediate change, some relief from so much negativity coming at us at once. We’re enduring financial hardships, joblessness, and seeing our liberties being taken away by the passing of each new law, our personal wealth stolen and our kids in debt before they have even been born.

    Well, I suggest to you now that each one of us has an opportunity right now, TODAY, to make a huge change in the course of history and help our nation avoid a lot more misery, pain and suffering.

    No one here doubts that much of our government is secretive and working against us. We are angry about the shadow government, the elite bankers and those within the FED, with Goldman Sachs and major corporations who are surrounding us like an army, taking our wealth and taking our country down. We have felt helpless. This all goes against what America is to us in our hearts was at its inception. It is land of a free people, not an oppressed people.

    I would like you to take a look at a complaint being filed in Washington State. The print is tiny (CTRL+ will give you larger print). Be sure to read through it all the way to the end. You will get an education! If you have anger towards any of the elite and secret groups, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM ! YOUR COMPLAINT CAN CAUSE AN INVESTIGATION AND CRIMINAL CHARGES TO BE LEVELED AGAINST THOSE WHO HAVE HARMED US AND CONTINUE TO HARM US. They won’t stop themselves, so we have to. We call it then end of tyranny. Let’s get back to living fully in freedom. We need to eradicate them from our financial and governmental system! This complaint summarizes one of the largest crimes planned against Americans and other people around the world, ever! This is global. It will start in a couple of months, mid-October, so we haven’t much time to act. Point by point, you will see that this fall our government with several other organizations listed in the complaint have actually planned to harm us in ways we could never have ever imagine. Obama has appeared on television telling us how he has encouraged several countries to be prepared to also force vaccinate its citizens. As he puts it “they are responsibly prepared”. Nice sounding, but far from nice.

    Names like Goldman Sachs, the elite bankers, criminal syndicate, the World Health Organization (WHO) and many others, several in Illinois, and drug executives who plan to make a lot of money from the sale of a vaccine for the H1N1 virus, but this vaccine is contaminated and lethal. A criminal indictment has firstly been filed against WHO and others by Jane Bergermeister.

    Help take down the criminals who have stolen so much from us already, and who now plan to systematically take our very lives, once again under the guise of helping us. No, they are not helping us, they are helping themselves to everything we own if we die from this vaccine! There is so much documentation. Get legal counsel if you need to. Talk it over with others, but please consider filing a complaint in your state. Who will stand up and put your anger to good use? As Ron Paul says, we need to convert that energy of anger into good use. Here’s your opportunity.

    You can also visit my website at http://livingquests.com for links to more interviews with Jane, videos and info. It’s not a fancy website, but it will do for now.

    I think this should stop the Socialized healthcare plan. Who would want a persident to design a health care plan who has these intentions!?

    Vacinations are mandatory in the military. If they are given this deadly vaccination, it would take the lives of those who defend us and disable our military at home! The UN troops could then have their way with our country.

    I strongly suggest that everyone get educated and pay attention to what is happening concerning the upcoming government-controlled, mass, forced flu vaccination plan. We only have a couple of months before we will be hit with something larger than any other issue. This is designed to change our country, the world as we know it.

    Much has already been posted on the several “Health” sections of this forum. Please check out the information, especially more towards the bottom of the entries.

    For anyone who is working towards preserving our liberty, freedom from tyranny…check out the agenda (there’s always an agenda) from the Swine Flu Conference held in Washington D.C., especially #2 & #6

    Jane Bergermeister has filed a criminal indictment against the World Health Organization (WHO) and Obama due to the evidence she has about contaminated flu vaccines being distributed for mass depopulation. Know her story, her case.
