Although the chance the swineflu will be as drastic as the Spanishflu or any other major decease is quite small, I would urge the government to keep monitoring the situation carefully.

In most Western countries we would probably have minimum casualties because of our healthcare. But this doesn’t take away that IF the flu comes around this authum in a more serious form we risk losing thousands of people. (estimated around 35.000 per year i believe and 200.000 in hospitals in America alone)

Like I said before, the chances are not all that big. And people should see it in perspective.

I think this flu is a bigger threat than terrorism. Seeing terrorism only takes about 60-80 people in normal years. And even in 2001 it was ‘only’ 3000-6000.
(in western countries (combined) that is, not counting the middle-east, they seem to make a habbit out of it.)
And if you see how much money is spend against terrorism compaired to heartfailure (heartfailure has a deathtoll about a thousand times as high)

My conclussion would be, the budget against terrorism in mainly driven by fear. Its totally out of balance compaired to the risks.
Make sure you don’t handle things the same with with the flu. But just because it has the potential the grow, do monitor everything closely. If i virus breaks out in a more aggresive form and we don’t act in time we risk losing some extra thousands.

You will have to find the balance between not getting the corrupt American government taking away your rights and increasing their power over the health-system and dealing with a threat in a responsible way.

(Normally I would think its the responsibility of the government to make sure its population gets good healthcare, but in America its not smart to give away power to the government just because most politicians are owned by corperations.)

Greeting from the Netherlands. (Explains the poor grammer :p) You are one of the few politicians in America I have some faith in.

    Good luck,

    J.Kuiper.

Its time for the american people to wake up and its coming. Knowledge is power and its up to the average person to spread the issue because the goverments not trying to stop this train to sink us in a greater hole that future generations will have to carry on their back just like we do from previous generations. Does anyone else realize the fact that it takes the FED 10 seconds to use X trillion dollars of YOUR money, but it takes you people years to even pass legislature to AUDIT them.

No one seems to care about the fact that you CANNOT accomplish ANYTHING within a corrupt system, especially when you’re trying to work against those who MAKE the laws you live by.
