Ron Paul

Ron Paul is the only candidate who predicted and warned against the economic crisis, who understood and explained the reasons for it, and who offers a viable solution.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who really means it when he says he wants to bring our troops home and scale down our unsustainable and unreasonable empire.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who is serious about slashing spending and eliminating taxes.

Even though others are now trying to sound like him, there is only one Ron Paul. And there is only one candidate who can beat Obama: Ron Paul.

Congressman Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited, constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the “one exception to the Gang of 535″ on Capitol Hill.

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. He and his wife Carol moved to Texas in 1968, where he began his medical practice in Brazoria County. As a specialist in obstetrics/gynecology, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. He and Carol, who reside in Lake Jackson, Texas, are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.

While serving in Congress during the late 1970s and early 1980s, Dr. Paul’s limited-government ideals were not popular in Washington. In 1976, he was one of only four Republican congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan for president.

During that time, Congressman Paul served on the House Banking committee, where he was a strong advocate for sound monetary policy and an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve’s inflationary measures. He was an unwavering advocate of pro-life and pro-family values. Dr. Paul consistently voted to lower or abolish federal taxes, spending and regulation, and used his House seat to actively promote the return of government to its proper constitutional levels. In 1984, he voluntarily relinquished his House seat and returned to his medical practice.

Dr. Paul returned to Congress in 1997 to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. He continues to advocate a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles.

Congressman Paul’s consistent voting record prompted one of his congressional colleagues to say, “Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers’ ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are.” Another colleague observed, “There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few.”

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:

  • He has never voted to raise taxes.
  • He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
  • He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
  • He has never taken a government-paid junket.
  • He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
  • He voted against the Patriot Act.
  • He voted against regulating the Internet.
  • He voted against the Iraq war.
  • He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
  • He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

I have a vision of an editorial cartoon, and it would never be published. Does anyone else see the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights being put through a shredder? I am terrified of Obama and his czars. At last count, there were 42 czars, none of whom were vetted nor confirmed by Congress. Many of the czars duplicate Cabinet positions. My feeling is that the drug companies will be next on the agenda. Maybe I’m paranoid, but Obama scares me to death. He is even worse than I expected.

The only thing President John F. Kennedy ever warned America about (and it was unintended) was the rampant spread of sexually transmitted diseases borne from constantly banging a different woman every night. Thanks JFK!

“For example, private charity existed before government welfare and did the same job. Now the government taxes people to death leaving them with much less money to donate to charity.” is allegedly a quote from Ron Paul. Government’s stepped in partly because there never was sufficient voluntary ‘charity’ (love and care for others) to actually care for others … as for “taxed to death’: the US is known as a generally lower tax (especially for the wealthy), low health / low welfare provision country – perhaps unique in the developed world for its backwardness in these areas.
And re the NYED education quote: their responsibilities are HUGE : for details see: http://usny.nysed.gov/about/

    Ron Paul,

I will be running for a congressional seat here in Illinois as soon as I can, to give you what support I can in the House. Keep up the good work and I’ll be there as soon as I can. Also, I urge others to run for congress in their respective district. If you truly believe in Dr. Paul’s message and your Congressional representative does not, like mine Deborah Halvorson, don’t sit around and complain, get yourself on the ballot and campaign! That is my plan if it doesn’t work for you keep trying until something does, and if you live in the Illinois 11th, Dapper for Congress!

    Hi All
Pass this on to your Congress man or woman
Let Congress go first, that’s if they think they have such a great idea, they should enact a pilot program, run it for three years, and then evaluate it for cost, quality, availability, etc. And who should be the test group? Congress! Yes, let’s tell Congress to try their great ideas on themselves, their staff members, and all members of the executive branch of the federal government. There are over one million employees in the executive branch alone. That should be a large enough group to successfully test a pilot program for three years. If it works as well as they think it will, they can roll it out for the rest of the country.
    Thanks
    Dave

    Scott,
Your comments are very interesting and I understand your frustration. I think that many americans are getting upset with the politics as usual of the federal government, and “spending it’s way of the recession”.

I would hold off on calling yourself anarchist as that implies the desire of total caos. When in reality I think you have a vision of the way things should be run and want to see real change.

I myself feel the same way. I am not really interested in the political parties anymore. I feel that neither party represents the interests of the american people and they both are so aligned with corporate lobbies that it’s hard to see how this democracy is really effectively helping the people it governs.

Texas should have the right to succeed if they feel their taxpayer dollars aren’t being used to help it’s residents. The federal government should do it’s best to use the tax money to give back to the people and not funnel money to wall street and defense companies. The government should spend their time making laws that protect american citizens regarless of the implications for the corporations the lobbies represent.

    Chris,

You have made some good points. Please understand that I am borderline Anarchist. My family settled this country and this great state. My forefathers are rolling over in their graves as we speak. I believe something big is going to have to happen to put this nation back on course. As far as I am concerned the government is crazy with power and corrupt. It is my hope to see true Conservatism come back to nation’s capital with fiscal responsibility. This is not free money our representatives are swimming in. It is my children and their children’s future. A damn bleak one at that! I have joked about the fact Texas can secede. Maybe we should and let the Fat Roman empire fall. Washington politics stinks! All of them should face trail for causing its demise, just as we hold corporate heads accountable. I have rallied behind Ron in hope that he can start a ripple in the politics of Washington. He is not the wave it will take to cleanse this nation. I have set back as the silent majority watching this nation being chipped away at by radical extremist and leftist. I am silent no more! It is time to retake this nation back to the basics our forefathers set forth.

Scott, you mention that Isreal is not “our terrist problem”. I don’t think that was ever in question. The problem is that the Federal Governement spends billions to fight wars and donate weapons to Isreal. This money comes out of the pockets of american taxholders. Ron Paul supports the view that America can be allies with Isreal without giving them weapons of mass destruction. Do you agree or disagree? That is the question in debate.

As far as the other middle east countries are concerned, does it really make sense to continue funding wars when the money would be better spent helping americans? Ron Paul makes the argument that expanding the american empire is going to cause it’s collapse. The money that Americans give the Federal Government should be used to help the American people. If it is not, why should people have to pay taxes to begin with? It seems that Ron Paul views government taxes as an abuse of power.

I personally am fine with government taxes if the money goes to giving people free health care or free tuition at universities. This is what happens in many european countries. At least then you can get some value out of your tax dollar. Whearas in the United States the tax money is funnelled to weapons, wars, and wall street.

These are the issues that are pertinent to this site. Let me know what you guys think.

ElizaJane, your post is not written very well. It’s understanding to be critical of Israel, considering they bombed UN schools and hospitals with white phosphorus causing innocent people to burn alive, but your comments are written in a way that makes you sound crazy. Why don’t you write about the facts to support your opinion. You could have easily mentioned that we spent billions attacking Iraq because we thought they had weapons of mass destruction, while at the same time giving Israel free weapons of mass distruction. It’s well known that they now have atomic weapons. Obviously they have chemical weapons since they used them recently on the palestinians. That is why they are being sued by the United Nations.

Under Bill Clinton the USA gave Israel $30 billion in weapons, and then George Bush gave them $40 billion. That is the real issue here regarding the United States. Now that there are americans living in poverty in tent cities without health insurance and millions losing the jobs, how much will Obama give Israel? I would guess $40-50 billion in weapons.

So you are saying that we should use that money given to the Israelis for….let me guess…..Universal Healthcare for the uninsured! Yeah!!! Thats Constitutional! It says it, yes, hold on, let me find it in the Constitution……just a second…… Surely it says it somewhere in this document that the government has the power to do this….. Ah yes, it says it right next to where it says the government can and should also give billions of dollars to foreign countries……

    Ms ElizaJane,

Israel is not our terrist problem. I agree that the middle east is real problem. Our support of Israel has caused the US problems, But the real problem is the crazy hate religion they practice in the middle east. I would hope you would not engage in this too. Lets focus on real problems here in the US. Like stopping the goverment in owning and dictating how businesses run. Stopping the crazy spending our goverment is doing. And my personal favorite, Stopping the continued loss of our person rights.

If the government has the power to takeover private corporations why doesn’t it just takeover the Fed? Because it’s where the puppet masters are and the source of their payouts (my opinion).

It brings a tear to my eye that you are not president. I voted for Obama and it was a mistake.

I was never politically active but my gut feeling always told me there was an underlying power. I read some books on it and tried to block it out cause I thought it was what was best. I’m often reminded of those books I read cause as the years went on the details in the book manifested themselves and still I ignored it. I recently watched “the obama deception” and I thought some of it was bogus but the hardline facts were undeniable. I still tried to carry on as business as usual. Then I started to paying closer attention to the underlying agenda and it’s the same as Bush’s. I lost complete confidence in our system with how Obama is handling this recession.

Then I found you. You stand for everything I believe in and you are an honest guy. I’ve heard speeches where you probably knew the answer you’d give wasn’t what that particular audience wanted to hear but you said it anyways. You stood behind your beliefs and that means a lot to me. It’s to bad we have to go thru a lot worse for people like me to see who’s really on our side. I will do whatever I can in my power to let people know who Ron Paul is all about. Please run again. WE NEED YOU!!!!!

    Sir:
I was wondering if you have ever talked to or will talk to Mr. Walter Burien? If not you should. He shows how the taxpayer at all levels is being used for a never ending source of income. While at the same time the federal, state, and local governments are showing the public only the budget which consists of money in, money out while holding any income producing items “off budget”. Meanwhile the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports which includes all assets, income and expenses including government investments, pensions, and other income producing assets are only shown to financial institutions, goverment agencies and yes even the corporations controlling the television networks.

I do know that he has shown in my state of Illinois, that as of 2003, the state is sitting on 17.4billion while claiming huge budget deficits. Meantime politicians involved getting kickbacks from banks and investment companies if they will use them for using them. It is a racket and time to exposed. According to Mr. Burien the US itself is sitting on over 77 trillion dollars in such hidden assets. Go figure.

Mr Paul if you are indeed sincere on transparency, please have Mr. Burien testify before congress.

To learn more go to http://www.CAFR1.com. Educate yourself.

The part I find amusing is the number of celebrities who were hard core liberals and are now fans of Ron Paul. Names such as Bill Maher, DL Hughely, and even Howard Stern. Take a look at my vid collection on my News page.

Howard Stern even voiced my own sentiments, that Dr. Paul wasn’t getting the air time needed during the election. I’m just glad I put my vote on record whether it counted or not. It counted to ME!

I find it amusing reading through the earlier comments before the election and seeing ppl saying Obama will be the Man to fix things, RP being their 2nd choice. Only a month or two into his term and their savior is already just ramping-up the mistakes of the Bush administration. More debt, more bail-outs, More War (Afghanistan with no exit plan for Iraq). Can’t ppl see the this vindicates RP even more? Dems or Reps don’t matter. They just move the little pieces around to different interest groups w/o fixing anything! They play with pennies while throwing away dollars! We have gotten to the point in our country’s history, that Radical (to some ppl) changes have to be made. More govt. & govt. employement/programs is not the answer. We can no longer afford this “life-style,” People!
Cut military spending drastically, get us out of meddling in the entire world, it only harms us and our servicemen! You want a stimulus, how about no income taxes for two years!!!! Big ideas, not the little shell-games these tired politicians parade before us!

Those who pick Ron Paul as their second choice under Obama are the traditional pansy, Second Amendment weakening, welfare promoting, bleeding heart liberals Ron Paul has been fighting for years. The only reason they claim Ron Paul is their second choice is because he is anti-war. Will they be so supportive when he constitutionalizes the government (as it is supposed to be) and eliminate their welfare checks? I am so sick of these kinds of people. Ron Paul is better than these “fair weather” libertarians.

Please run for president in 2012 Dr. Paul. Your movement should have gained enough ground by then to be dramatically powerful. No other candidates, or politicians in general understand what the constitution means. You are the sole reason I became interested in politics. I felt hopeless, that every single person on capitol hill was corrupt, there was nothing I could do, nobody I could vote for that would make a difference.
Well now I am outwardly hostile (verbally) about what the government is doing to our country and I tell people EVERY chance I get about what we stand for.

From the bottom of my heart I thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Daniel

Adam Smith, perhaps the greatest of influences upon America’s economic system of capitalism, correctly determined that the scarcity and utility of a particular object determines its value.

Because of the turmoil in the housing and credit markets, beginning in Red October 2008, the Bush administration and the Obama administrations have spent hundreds of billions of dollars and Obama plans on printing and spending trillions more in an idiotically wrong-headed attempt to the save the US economy. This over abundance of cash in the system cannot but diminish the scarcity of, and, therefore the value of the US dollar. This will almost certainly cause inflation or even the more dreadful hyper-inflation.

Also, the selling of our massive debt abroad will have to be paid off by our children and their children with a currency less valuable than the currency of today.

Sir Isaac Newton’s Third Law of Motion stated “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” The administrations of Bush and Obama have acted in such a manner as to debase our currency and to shackle countless generations to come with yet unfathomable debt that will retard the economic prosperity of the current economy and that of the future.

With the outrageous spending by both political parties in government, an equal reaction by the citizenry is simply not possible; however, we may react with a symbolic gesture expressing a discontent equal to the recklessness of Washington’s fiscal policies.

The time for those silent and discontented to participate in protest is upon us! On October 12, 2009 (Columbus Day), I shall appear at the nearest US Treasury Department office where I shall burn a one dollar bill. This action is to have a two-pronged effect:

Firstly is to make scarcer and thus more valuable – even if but symbolically – the US Dollar.

Secondly, each dollar burned provides for a stronger dollar for us and for future generations allowing them a timelier ability to repay the debt with which Bush, Bernanke, Paulson, Obama and Geithner have bestowed upon them.

When the glow of flaming dollar bills is seen on the distant horizon from the Halls of Power in Washington D.C., the government may just have to re-think their irresponsibility.

On October 12, 1492, Columbus discovered America. On October 12, 2009, may the District of Columbia discover America! Spread the word and join me and others at Treasury Department offices across America for The Day of the Flaming Dollar.

Iam a Canadian citizen and I’am 24 years old and I just wanted to say that there are alot of us in Canada that are behind Dr.Paul and his cause. Alot of young people like myself are excited about what he brings to the table and what he invisions the U.S. should look like. Personally I agree with just about everything he says even though the mainstream media does not give him his due. Keep the great Dr.Paul and with your courage you will make things happen.

As a Canadian citizen, you should “invision” what CANADA should look like.

Dude, stop harping at the Canadian bloggers. I know its annoying when they try to get involved in US politics but like you said in your other post, the United States has been involved in everyone’s politics for years. So calm the heck down and don’t get so ticked off since they can’t vote here legally and their little posts are irrelevant to the grand scheme. As presumpuous as it is when they do that, we have to remember we as a country have set the example for them. But hey, at least the ones posting here like Ron Paul!

    Dear Dr. Paul,

You’re exactly the type of president our founding fathers would have wanted to run this country. You’re the only hope we have.
