Everyone is surely aware by now that all of our digital communications are being sent to government databases for storage. If our American ancestors could see it, they wouldn’t believe their eyes. We still, however, have the ability to use cash. All of our economic decisions are not under constant government surveillance. Ron Paul discusses the dangers of Big Brother’s War on Cash.

    Cash could help preserve individuals’ privacy, so they are not as subjected to cataloging and controlling. While electronic financial transactions could be more convenient in a lot of situations, cash could help protect privacy. In some ways, cash could also prevent identity theft. Many governments have abused people throughout history, and so it is good to reduce the data that these governments can accumulate. Many people who are less affluent can not as easily open bank accounts, and banks often charge more and higher fees to the poor.
